Hi, I’m Kelli Flitton, I love my simple life.
I’m married to my best friend, I’m mom to four beautiful children, creator of pretty things, and owner of a little online shop called Posies on Parade. I am so thrilled to be here today to share my story with all of you.
A big thanks to Jo and Paige for providing such an inspirational place for women all over the world to gather and connect. Thank you for inviting me to be apart of it. I am honored. I have been making things all my life. When I was little, I colored, cut and pasted. I spent hours playing with paper dolls with my mom and sat close to my Nanny as she taught me to crochet.
As I made things, I imagined magical lands filled with enchanted gardens and whimsical characters. And as I imagined, my love for making things blossomed like petals of a flower. I grew up, went to college, graduated with an art degree, fell in love, started a family, and through the ups and downs of life, making things has been a constant comfort.
A need for the soul, of sorts. To pick up a needle and thread or a colored pencil is like spending time with an old friend. It’s comfortable, it’s happiness, it’s love. To sit at the sewing machine and watch a doll come to life is pure bliss. I find inspiration everywhere, through the laughter of my kids, a blooming rose, a vintage hankie, a bowl full of old buttons, a stack of yummy fabrics, a bird singing in a blooming tree, or even the many scrumptious colors of embroidery floss piled in my sewing basket.
I gather all the inspiration around me, carry it to my studio and watch all those enchanting gardens and whimsical characters I imagined as a little girl, come to life. Sometimes my brain is so full, I can’t race to the studio fast enough. I laugh at myself, when my fingers can’t keep up with all the creative juices floating in my brain. But, I have to say, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am happy. My dreams are in full bloom and I feel so blessed to have the simple, creative life that I do. Please come visit me at:
