Fabulous Feature: Chalkboard Shelf

Who doesn’t love getting little inspirational notes?  What if you got them while at work from one of your fabulous co-workers?  That is what makes this week’s feature, a chalkboard shelf, so special.  It allows Ava to recieve inspiration throughout the week.

“We found an old drawer at a salvage yard in Bay View, painted the back with Chalkboard Paint and hung it up on the wall behind my desk. Our Art Director, Sam O’Leary, draws me inspirational messages when he sees I need them. I display these alongside favorite Instagram pictures and sentimental trinkets. Whenever I need a visual break from my computer I just spin my chair around and rearrange the display!”

We want to feature the items you love.  And if you want to be featured we’d adore hearing from you:

Fabulous Feature: A Rather Lovely Desk

What if your desk were so much more than a desk?  What if it offered storage, display space, and inspiration for your future projects?  I feel that way when I look at Heather’s desk.  I also feel a little envious.  Isn’t it just gorgeous?

“My favorite item right now is my desk. I’m addicted to wood organizers and this is how I use them!”

I think that we can all agree that Heather uses them just right.

Fabulous Flowers

We spend so much time in our workplaces. Whether that space is your home, office, or studio we are typically there for multiple hours every day.  Being indoors a majority of the day can be a little gloomy at times.  Fresh-cut flowers are the perfect way to brighten up your space and bring the outdoors in.  When was the last time you filled up your vase with a little bit of sunshine?

Fabulous Feature: Paint Shelf

Storage can be a huge issue in your work space.  Finding a place to keep pens and paper can sometimes be challenging.  Imagine if you had to find a place to put hundreds of things.  Many of you with studios or craft rooms face this challenge everyday.  This is why I thought this week’s feature from Mary was perfect.

I love Mary’s solution to paint storage.  A custom piece of furniture is sometimes the best option to stay organized.  Here is what Mary has to say about why she loves her paint shelf:

“My husband made it for me according to my measurements. It holds about 1000 bottles of acrylics! I have my mason jars on top of it filled with buttons. All of my paints are arranged in color families and alphabetically. Delta Ceramcoats are on the top shelves and DecoArt Americanas are on the bottom shelves. Each bottle is labeled and within easy reach of my paint tables. I wouldn’t want to be without it!”

Fabulous Feature: Wall Unit

Storage is necessary is any work space, studio, office, or home.  But storage doesn’t have to be all function.  It can serve as a centerpiece to a room.  That is why I love this week’s feature from Katie.

This wall unit not only serves as storage but also as a lovely focal point for the room.  I think it would fit nicely in most spaces and you could incorporate your own style by the decor you add to the shelves.  But, enough about what I would do.  Why does Katie love her shelving system so much?

“This is my favorite item from my studio. It is my 5 shelf Expedit wall unit from Ikea. I purchased this almost 10 years ago and it has lasted several studio moves and redecorations. The 2-drawer units  are removable if you want them in or not. Totally customizable for anyone’s organizational needs!

Everything I need to run my business is housed in this unit. Space saving and at a reasonable price.”

Fabulous Feature: Wings

There are some things in our work spaces that are there to serve as inspiration.  And isn’t inspiration an important function in your life?  To me inspiration is just as necessary as a working pen or charged phone.  This is why the wings from Stacey seemed perfect to feature this week.

I love the idea of having something in your home, office, studio, or workplace that reminds you of your goals.  Stacey knows how to stay motivated with they help of her beautiful wings:

I love these wings that hang above my desk.  The were made by my sweet friend Shelly Kinnison.  My business tag line is ‘For the Girl with Roots and Wings’ so they are a perfect reminder for me to be brave and use my wings!”

Fabulous Feature: Alphabet Chest

Every week we dedicate posts to feature items that would make your workspace fabulous.  But I really wanted to know what makes your space a place you enjoy spending time in. I reached out to our wonderful community on Facebook to find out what their favorite item in their office, workspace, or studio is.  We had an overwhelming response and today I am excited to feature Tara Bradford’s favorite item from her new home office.

I could tell you why adore this lovely alphabet chest but I think Tara herself says it so much better:

I am mad about typography, so my favourite item has to be the oak alphabet chest. It was handmade and hand-delivered to me in Paris by Luke Ellis of Kent and London in Whistable, England. The chest holds CDs containing my photo files and little treasures I don’t want to misplace.”

Craftspiration

I love walking into a craft room, studio, or shop to find the mostly lovely craft table or work bench.  Seeing where others create is such a source of inspiration for me.  The functional side of me enjoys seeing the tables or benches and how they are utilized.  I hope these inspire you as well.

A Month of Storage Ideas

In January we have been focusing on storage and organization.  I wanted to make an easy reference for those who want to catch up or go back in time for inspiration.

I don’t know about you… But I feel more organized just looking at these.

Office Supply Intervention

With this month’s focus on organizing and storage I can’t help but think of my own out-of-control pen situation and think “something’s gotta give.”  I need a better way to keep my office supplies in check. Look around at your desk or work space… maybe even your kitchen table.  Most of us have a myriad of out-of-place office supplies laying around.  In a lot of cases it is because the poor stapler, pens, or rubber bands don’t have a home.  Well, I have found 4 wonderful solutions for storage of your office supplies. Because no one just wants a plastic bin sitting in their gorgeous space.

How do you like to keep your office supplies in order?
