What was your most memorable Holiday and why?
Thanks so much to our FOUR FABULOUS artists!
~We’ll see you tomorrow~
When we were little, we didn’t have much, but my dad loved Christmas. He would get pots and pans out and bang them and act like Santa Claus. I miss hearing all that noise waking us up to let us know Santa had stopped by!
I would have to say ALL of my childhood Christmases were my favorite because my parents made them all magical!
What beautiful and (usefu) items! I would love to have any of them.
My most memorable holiday was last Christmas…I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Madelyn on December 22, and we came home on Christmas Eve…how much more special does it get?
My most memorable holiday I think would be my son’s first Christmas. He was just old enough to be aware of the lights and decorations and everything was just so exciting for him. It was so magical to be able to see the holidays through a child’s eyes.
Favorite time of year
For me,even though we’ve always had good holidays,Christmas last year would be at the top of my list.We were all so happy. The house was all decorated and my brothers were here & my Dad and everything was just so happy and joyous.
We had a wonderful holiday.Everything was just perfect.
Ultimatly it is the people in your life who make the holidays so wonderful, not the presents or the food. With my brothers it made the holidays perfect.
I am lucky that we are a close knit family and get to spend many holidays together, maybe not everyone is there at every holiday but we always have pleny of fun, food and love to go around to those who can make it. I am assuming since you used the word HOLIDAY it doesn’t necessarily have to be Christmas, so I would have to say New Years Eve 1992 when my now husband of 18 years got down on one knee while the final seconds were counting down on the ball dropping in New York on the television and proposed to me . I also thought it was incredible that when I called to announce to my parents I was engaged they already knew because he had asked for my hand in marriage prior to that night.
My most memorable Christmas was 1992. It was the year I had my twin boys in November and for Christmas they were both home with us for the holiday. Being premature, they were in the hospital for Thanksgiving so having them home was an extra special treat. I was truly blessed!
I loved holidays as a child – baking with my mom , crafting, going to my grandparents with all the aunts and uncles and cousins. I don’t really have any bad memories from my childhood Christmases. The memories are so wonderful but being a mom and watching my sweet kiddoes excitement with the holiday season is such a tremendous blessing. I honestly can’t pick a favorite!
Last Christmas would be at the very top of my list because my brothers were both here and everything was decorated so beautifully and everyone was so happy. It’s the people that make the holidays special.
My most memorable Christmas was the first Christmas after our son was born. When we married, we couldn’t have children, and four years later the best gift ever was our son. He is 25 years old now and we are waiting for him to become a father one day….the best gift continues….
Growing up, Christmas was always made special by my mom with gingerbread house building and other crafts and traditions. But the year that really stands out to me was the year I got a brand new (not hand-me-down) winter coat that looked just like mom’s. I felt so big!
There is no question – I was adopted as an infant and in November 1998 at the age of 21 was finally reunited with my birth mother’s family (sadly, she had passed away in 1996) and my birth father and his family.
The Christmas of 1998 saw me receiving gifts from all this extended family for the first time, and it became more and more obvious where my creative mind originated! Most the gifts were handmade and thought out especially for me, so that I would know what I have always meant to these “new” relatives… no other Christmas has ever been like one.
I now make as many of my gifts as possible for my family, remembering the joy I had that year knowing how much time and thought went into those gifts that were especially for me!
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas of 2007. My husband and I took our 2 kids to Florida to visit their Oma and Opa. This was my youngest daughters first time in Florida and my older daughters 2nd time there. We had a fantastic time. We spent one week just outside of Disney and went every day. They other week we spent with my husbands parents. It was a great time.
Christmas is my favorite holiday and I have had so many memorable ones, but if I had to pick just one – i would say the year I was married on December 28th….three days after Christmas.
It is hard to pick one.It would be all of the ones that have been spent with the ones that I love dearly.Wishes for everyone to have a great memory making holiday filled with love, peace and joy.
Probably 2009, the first Thanksgiving & Christmas we celebrated after adopting our two daughters… I don’t remember a lot because it was quite a whirlwind time but it was definitely a life changing season!
The first year of my marriage when my husband and I sat and made tiny little painted ornaments so our bare little tree would have some ornaments!
The last Christmas with my husband before he passed away. My DIL had just had surgery and they had moved into an upstairs apt. My husband couldn’t climb the stairs, so they spent the day with us and my 6 month old granddaughter in our motel room. We went out to eat and opened presents in the room. My husband got to play with the baby some on the bed and we had a good time together. That was Christmas 2006 and he passed away in Feb.
Our first Christmas with our son. He was only 2 weeks old!
The year I was pregnant with my first child. It made the Christmas story so much more real being pregnant myself and was such a time of joyful anticipation.
My most memorable Holiday was New year’s Eve 2000. That was the day I married my best friend! jinglesells at gmail dot com
My most memorable Holiday was the first Christmas that i had with my daughters ,the Christmas after they were born were the greatest Christmas i had ever had ……..and then when they were grown and had children ,my two grandsons were my presents ………all of the holidays my daughters ,grand children family all get together …….Family is the best gift a person can have and i am so thankful for mine we dont have alot of money but we do have alot of love ………..thanks
Christmas Eve 2007 has been my most memorable holiday. That was the day my daughter was released from the NICU after 2 months of care. It was by far the best present I’ve ever gotten! (That is until her brother came along and was released the week after Mother’s Day and gave me my second best present!)
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you for a chance to win! HUGE fan of all of these fabulous ladies and their creations! My most memorable Holiday was 2002, my mom had a stroke on Thanksgiving day and we weren’t even sure she would make it to Christmas…we did and it was one of the best days having her home from the Stroke Rehabilitation facility to all be together!
Christmas for sure, but I am having a hard time picking a particular Christmas! I love ALL the traditions. Stockings, ornaments, pajamas, cookies… and I keep adding more traditions! I can hardly keep up with it and I love every moment!
My most memorable christmas was having my daughter on christmas night into next day. She is the most precious gift I have received.
My most memorable holiday was the time we surprised our boys with new bikes. We closed off the entrace to the christmas tree so that they woudn’t see the presents on Christmas morning and when we were ready, we opened to curtain and they came running in…the look on their faces were absolutely priceless!
I think my most memorable holiday was my son’s first Christmas, when I got to be Santa for the first time. I had never been allowed to believe in Santa as a child, so seeing this magic for the first time in my child’s eyes was fabulous!
My most memorable Christmas was the first one we celebrated in our new home, hundreds of miles away from our families, with our almost 1-year-old baby girl. It was simple, peaceful and what Christmas should be. No stress, no running from place to place. Just enjoying each other and making memories.
Most of my holiday’s are the same. Lots of visiting with family & enjoying a good meal. Sadly my most memorable Christmas wouldn’t be a positive one as my grandpa was rushed to the hospital. I was 13…. But besides that year I remember years with new baby cousins. Getting a meaningful gift. Playing board games with the kids. And eating tons of Spritz cookies that my grandma’s neighbor makes. Love the holidays!!
Last Christmas has been the most memorable holiday yet for me. I live in South Carolina and we rarely see snow, but it snowed ON Christmas! It was surreal! The kids were very happy that day enjoying their gifts and playing in the snow, and we had family here for dinner that we hadn’t seen in a while. It was a wonderful day!
The cristmas after my dad died, no decorations, baking or shopping. It was the first Christmas in 53 years that he wasn’t with me.
this is the first Christmas without my dad in 57 years. It’s hard. I know how you felt, Madeline.
First, thank you for the giveaway!! Amazing stuff!! I would say the most memorable Christmas would be last year… Why, you ask? My baby was born! It was the best give and the day was full of family and everything that matters most. It was magical!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas last year. My mother was temporarily living with us after a stroke. My children were soon to be 6 and 3 so the holiday brought “Through a child’s eyes” to life. To share that with my mother was wonderful and I was excited to have everyone together that morning.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2000….our little family of 2 became 3! It was my oldest sons first Christmas!
Probably the Christmas after my son was born, so special!
My most memorable Holiday was 2006 when my husband took me to PARIS for Christmas and for New Year Eve celebration. The moment I’ll always remember is the mass at Notre Dame and the New Year Eve’s celebration at the Eiffel Tower.
best regards,
Wanda
My most memorable holiday was the year I asked only for Beanie babies. There were lots of presents under the tree that I “KNEW” were beanie babies. On Christmas morning I opened up my presents to find that everything I thought was beanie babies was actually underwear wrapped around a bag of beans! The last Present I opened was a giant box filled with beanie babies! I remember how dissapointed I was as I opened all the underwear/beans, and how exstatic I was as I opened the big box!
My most memorable has to be the Christmas that my oldest was about 2. Santa brought her “squeaky shoes” and a big girl bed! She proceeded to put the shoes on and JUMP on her new mattress, making squeaky noises and giggling her little head off!! Was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen and made my heart fill with joy to see her so happy over the little things.
I truly loved when my family and I were totally snowed in. The only way up or down our hill was in a bobcat type tractor. We missed a flight to AZ, but oh it was wonderful! Homemade mac and cheese with fresh bread and Christmas cookies kept us cozy. the kids built a snow village and read all their books that had been presents from cover to cover. I just loved that feeling of just being together with no pressure to be anywhere. Maybe I will be so blessed again this year.
Christmas is by far the most memorable. Every year we could, we would travel from TX to MD to see family, exchange gifts, feast in endless amounts of homecooked foods, and play in the snow. I remember when I was still in elementary school my parents would make “reindeer food” bags made up of small bits of carrots, glitter, and shiney paper pieces for my sister and I, and Christmas Eve night we would go outside in the front of the house and sprinkle it on the ground for the reindeer to eat when Santa came.haha Good memories ~

My most memorable Holiday is Thanksgiving 2004, after many years of infertility I gave birth to my healthy, perfect baby girl on Nov. 23, 2004, 2 days before Thanksgiving and was able to go home on Thanksgiving Day!
Thanks for the chance to win some amazing prizes! I love them all!

My most memorable christmasholiday was in 2008 when it was in Holland winther and we spend the christmas days at Gran Canaria in the sun. Santa came over and it was so nice for the childeren to see him while they wearing their swimshorts and Santa was just Santa like always.
I love Christmas so I have a lot of memories. #1 would be Christmas Eve 1997 when my husband wrapped me engagement ring in a masking tape wrapped box, and proposed! 14 years later we are celebrating the holidays with our 3 beautiful daughters!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas of 2009 because that was our first Christmas with our beautiful baby girl. I was a new mom and got the new experience of Christmas through a child.
WOW, what wonderful prizes! My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas being a mom, knowing a bit more what Mary felt like as she held her Christ child. Beautiful and amazing memories of that Christmas I am so thankful for! :)
I’d have to say, even though it’s still early — it will be this holiday season. My 5 year old is so thrilled it’s the Christmas season. She walks around singing “it’s the most wonderful time of the year”. We’ve already decorated (we started a family tradition this year of cutting down our Christmas tree the day after thanksgiving) and she is just beside herself with excitement. Watching her and my son is rejuvenating and really getting me in the holiday spirit. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday – but having children has made it so much more enjoyable!
My oldest son’s first Thanksgiving. He was 3 days old and I had just become a mother. My whole world had changed overnight. He is now 6 and I am due with another little boy right around Christmas. I also had twin daughters on St. Patrick’s Day 2.5 years ago. Around our house, holidays mean babies and birthdays!
My most memorable holiday was Thanksgiving 1985 …. I was a child and it was my last one with my Great Grandfather. He was what kept our family together! I loved him a lot!!!
my most memorable holiday was actually Halloween 2010. while it might seem unlikely that Halloween would win, my husband proposed to me the day before Halloween last year and we got to announce our engagement to all of our friends at a Halloween party that night! it was so much fun to have a get together of friends already planned where we could share the good news and celebrate.
I was about 9 years old, growing up poor in germany. My mother somehow found an old wicker doll carriage, which she cleaned and restored, she made a pillow and blanket to go with it, and she even mamaged to get a doll,my first doll.I never forgot that Christmas,it meant so much to me,because i knew even then that she made big sacrifices just to get this present for me.It is one christmas that i always remember.
The most memorable Holiday for me is Christmas. I remembered when I was a kid all the family got together and have a big dinner and then we went to visit my grandparents. SInce I’m from PR, we could use all the bikes, cars, toys, etc. since it is 85 degrees on Christmas day!!
I think one of my most memorable was only the year before last because we were snowed in and rather than going to a big family meal, we ended up with just the 4 of us tucked in here in our jammies most of the day enjoying spending time together! Unexpected quiet family Christmas!
My most memorable holiday was a few years ago when my husband and I took my parents and our kids to DisneyWorld. My parents had never been and my Dad had always dreamed of going. He was like a kid wanting to ride every ride, see every character, and buy a bunch of souveniers. Of course, the Christmas decorations at Disney are beautiful making it even more special than it usually is. It was fun to be able to make one of my parents’s dreams come true. It was the best holiday and the best family vacation we’ve ever had!
I can not pick one.I have had a lot of great memory filled holidays spent with the ones that I love dearly.Wishing everyone a great holiday filled with love, peace, and joy.
My favorite Holiday memory is of spending x-mas with my Canadian relatives. We would eat a huge dinner at midnight on x-mas eve & open presents afterwards, then all of the cousins would play until we passed out. So much fun!
My most memorable holiday was the year my husband dressed as Santa for Christmas when all the family was at our house. It was so cozy, the fire place was going and we were all enjoying ourselves when “Santa” came to the door bearing gifts for the children! It was the best ever, to see those little faces light up the minute he walked in the door! It was his idea and it was such a delight! ( We do a traveling Christmas to all the siblings houses on Christmas Eve and each family has something unique to offer everyone and this was our contribution).
Last Christmas our first grandchild was born making for a joyful and memorable Christmas…so special!
I would have to say it was Christmas I was in 2nd grade. It was our first Christmas living in our new home. I remember believing so much in Santa and spending hours perfecting my letter to him. I fondly remember the last day of school before Winter break, my parents handing up the last of the decorations and the tree was so perfect. That was the best Christmas ever!
This past Christmas was my most memorable! My daughter age 5 and son 2, really “got” the idea of Santa which made the holidays so exciting. Spreading out reindeer food on the lawn, leaving milk & cookies for Santa, the innocence of it all is so sweet. It was magical to watch their surprised faces when they saw the gifts Santa left them under the tree. This year it will be even more memorable I’m sure! Thanks for the Giveaway!
My most memorable Christmas was when my (future) husband saved all of his money (minimum wage!) to buy me the china and crystal that I HAD to have. I couldn’t believe that he would sacrifice so much for me. He’s the same today, 30 years later.
My most memorable holiday was the year we spent Christmas at Disneyland as children. I would love to take my children one year for Christmas!
Wow…it’s hard to pick just one, but I guess I’d have to say Christmas 1995 when my first born son said ‘da da’ for the first time…he was 9 months old.
My favorite Holiday Memory gives back to me every evening at my Daughter’s bedtime.
I was 5 yrs. old and it was Christmas of 1973. My Granny Ruth gave me a stuffed St. Bernard doggie for Christmas. It was the most wonderful gift having come from my Granny whom we lived with and was the matriarch of our family. I cherished that doggie and made sure he came with me every where I went; the countless home moves through so many towns. Recently when tucking my Daughter into bed, we said our prayers and she asked me why he, my doggie didn’t have a name. I had just called him “Doggie”, It seemed fitting in my five year old mind. We laid there pondering names… giggling at some and vehemently vetoing others. Puppers. “That’s it Puppers” she said. Puppers is always tucked in at night with my Daughter. My Granny passed away on Feb. 2007. I miss her everyday. Every night I get to hug “Her” and tuck my Daughter in.
I have a few memorable holidays, my family always did scavenger hunts when someone got a really special present. When I was a junior in high school the gift at the end of my hunt was a ticket to go to France with my class. When I was pregnant with my first child it was the most special gift ever, an old fashioned wooden cradle made for my baby by my dad. Other memorable holidays were New Years eve when I was little my grandfather & a neighbor would weigh in to see who had lost more weight that year and also my family tradition of watching the Blues Brothers every Thanksgiving.
For me, the most memorable holidays were those when my brothers and I were kids and played together with our new toys from morining till night for days. It was so peaceful and happy….
Gosh there are alot, however, last Christmass was pretty awesome, my bestie gifted me a gift card to a spa, because she know what i need and knows i would neber d o it for myself. :)
I don’t have a most memorable holiday memory. Every Christmas has been so special because of the traditions. We have yet to break them! Every Christmas eve we go to church and have a candle light program. We have communion and then everyone gets a candle and goes out on the front steps of the church and sings Christmas carols. We are a big church in the heart of our small town and people will come just to watch. We end the night by doing gifts at my grandparents, and then going to my parents in the morning and doing gifts there.
My favorite was when my father dressed up as Santa and surprised all the grandchildren. It is one of my favorite memories. He passed away the next year.
My most memorable holiday was Thanksgiving 2 years ago, before my parents died. We hosted a big feast at my house, had multiple crockpots filled with food, and several unexpected guests. I made placecards for everyone – kind of a last minute stress-reliever for me — and then found out it was the birthday of one of the young men there. We just happened to have an Italian Cream Cake, so we added candles and set out his placecard. Little did we know that he would not have had any kind of celebration otherwise. This very gentle and shy young man kept the simple cardstock placecard that had a few mini fall leaves stapled to it :) and he asked if he could give me a hug. HOW SWEET! He commented — quietly but often — how much it meant to him that we’d gone to all that effort. It was humbling! Nothing was fancy — but something as simple as placecard says, “You matter. You belong here.” I know we all learned a lesson that day about how important it is to let people know their life matters.
When my girls in their sweetness, asked one christmas eve if santa could give some of their presents to other children who needed it more than them. They said they new the real meaning of Christmas- Jesus and they learned about JOY in school… J- Jesus, O-Others, Y- Yourself.
My best Christmas was when my parents gave me snow skis. My dad, who wasn’t extremely involved with us kids, took me up to the mountains several hours away, let me ski, and he sat and drank cocoa for hours. Nice memory.
My most memorable Holiday was two years ago Christmas when I brought my husband back to my grandparents house in Minnesota for the first time. It was below zero every day and my grandparents live on a farm (we live in San Diego). My family is so huge, with 13 Aunts and Uncles, so we have to rent out a hall for Christmas dinner. That year, we counted 88 people and it was a lot of craziness. We played the game “spoons” at the end of the day and of course ended up breaking a table. The most memorable thing about that trip was driving home to my grandparents house from my uncle’s, which is about a mile, with my hubby and brother, (who was driving) and we ended up in the ditch about 10 feet from my grandparent’s driveway. My dad had to get the huge John Deer tractor out of the barn to drag the car out. I’ll never forget looking at my husband in below zero temp, with snow flying sideways and him with his thumb pumping in the air shouting, “I’M HAVING AN AWESOME TIME!!!” City boys!!! Gotta love them!
My sister was born on December 24th and just before she turned 6 on the 7th of December she was hit by a car and killed. That Christmas just a couple of weeks had past and my mom and dad both made sure my sister and I both had a lovely and as normal Christmas as possible. They were in the throws of fresh grief over the loss of a child and had to go through her birthday on Christmas eve without her as well. I can not imagine the pain they hid so that I could have Christmas!
THe most memorable Christmas I had among many others was back in 1981. Christmas Eve I became engaged to my soul mate & father of our future 3 sons. THat night was the start of a very long love story. Even tho he is passed away.. he gave me the best years of my life. I will always remember the love of my youth…
The prizes in this post would help me document a very grand story of life, love and suicide loss… a story of restoration!
Merry Christmas!
My most memorable holiday was the year my parents bought me a car. They aren’t usually extravagant, so it was amazing.
Any Christmas spent at my Grandma Luella’s house. Everyone in the family gathered there. We always had great food and the most fun.
This year’s holiday hasn’t come yet, but it’s already proving to be my favorite as my two boys are finally old enough to really “get it”. Each holiday since having them has become more and more magical, and this year the excitement is already brimming. Can’t.wait.for.christmas.
Amazing women and gorgeous products featured. Thank you for the chance to win!
probably the last Christmas Dad was with us, playing the Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton cd while cooking eggs n toast for Christmas breakfast.
My most favorable holiday experiences are the ones we are making now as parents with our children… LOVE the month of December with my kids!
First of all Thank you SO much for this FANTASTIC giveaway.
I guess my must memorable holiday memory would be the year I went to spend Chrismass at my Grandma in 1996 I’ll say. My father’s mom never had a Christmas tree and most of all never had a pet in her home: so imagine her surprised when I showed up with my new baby dog and a tree (fake one, but still) … She felt in love with my dog and enjoyed the tree … It was really special !!! She passed away since then but I will always remember this ONE and only special Christmas …
Sincerely,
I loved them all when I was a kid. But when I became a mom it was a different kind of magic. I got to see what my parents seen in us the joy laughter and Magic.
Susan
My most memorable holiday was my son’s first Christmas. He was 9 months old and we were in TN with my parents and my brothers and their families. We had snow that started on Christmas eve and continued throughout Christmas. It was magical.
My most memorable Christmas memory was when I was 12. My grandparents owned a home they built on Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River. We used to spend many holidays at the Lake. This Christmas was the last year they owned the home and my Aunt and Uncle both came to celebrate. They are more like brother and sister to me as my mom was 20 when she had me and they are her younger siblings. It snowed that Christmas Eve and we went as a family for a moonlit walk. Not too far away was an old Civil War age cemetery. We walked to the cemetery and looked at all the gravestones, while sipping hot chocolate and throwing snowballs. It may sound a bit odd, but in a way we were celebrating the holiday with many heros that played an amazing role in our country’s history.
When I was a little girl (many years ago), my mama had saved the scraps from all the dresses she had made me over the year and sewed exact replicas for my new doll. I was so proud of my doll. My mom was amazing with her sewing skills.
My most memorable holiday has to be Thanksgiving of 2005. I was set up to have a radioactive iodine treatment to ablate any remaining thyroid tissue left behind after my surgery in September 2005 to remove my thyroid for papillary / follicular carcinoma. After my treatment the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I needed to be in isolation for a couple of days so as not to harm any of my family members. I felt just awful, and my Thanksgiving Day was spent alone, sick to my stomach and unable to enjoy any of the traditional holiday foods. The day was most memorable, however, because my family and friends took care of my young children, ages 5, 8 & 9, and showered them with the love and attention I was unable to show them on such a very special holiday. I will always be thankful for the peace they provided me during a very difficult time.
My most memorable holiday was two years ago………..we were supposed to travel to my parents house to spend the holidays with the rest of my siblings. Instead, we spent it at home with our three children because of a blizzard. We didnt’ leave the house for three days…..the snow was so bad that even the snowplow got stuck in the street in front of our house! It wasn’t what we had planned for Christmas, but that made the memories even more fun!
I DO NOT HAVE A BLOG BUT FOLLOW MANY OF YOU TALENTED LADIES. OH, SO MANY YEARS AGO NOW, MY ELDEST DAUGHTER AND SEVERAL OTHER LADIES DID ONE OF THE FIRST CRAFT SHOWS (NOT HEARD OF AT THAT TIME) AND FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AT THE CHRISTMAS SEASON, THEY HELD THE SHOWS IN MY HOME USING MANY OF THE ROOMS IN THE HOUSE. IT WAS WORK TO PREPARE BUT JOYFUL TO SEE HOW ALL THE LADIES ENJOYED THEMSELVES.
IT WOULD BE A GREAT PLEASURE TO BE THE RECIPRIANT OF EITHER OF THE TALENTED LADIES TODAY. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO GENEROUS.

One year we were heading out west to spend Christmas with my mother-in-law (the first for us since my father-in-law had passed away) so we set it up with Santa to deliver most of our gifts early. We picked our 3 children up from school, went home to collect something and then we all left again for about 1/2 an hour. When we returned, Santa had stopped by and left so many presents under the tree, it was so much fun and so exciting. It was a magical moment.
My most memorable Christmas our first Christmas after my son was diagnosed with type one diabetes. He was six years old and he only wanted to leave one cookie for Santa. He was very worried that the cookie and milk we left for Santa would make his blood sugar too high and that Santa wouldn’t have any insulin for a shot. He wrote the sweetest letter to Santa and Rudolph. He asked Rudolph to make sure that Santa checked his blood sugar after he had his one cookie and he left a piece of paper and marker for Rudolph to write down Santa’s blood sugar. He also left his meter, lancet, and syringes out for Santa to use.
Of course, it melted my heart that after all that he had recently been through, he was so worried about Santa.
My most memorable holiday was the Easter when my husband-to-be asked my father for permission to marry me. He waited until the very last minute, as we were about to leave for the airport to come back home! He was so nervous all weekend that it was hard to concentrate on dying Easter eggs and staying up late for the Vigil. Definitely a memorable one.
My most memorable Holiday was the year I got my bicycle. She was green and I named her Green Apple. I remember being thrilled that she was propped up on her kickstand under the little ceramic tree on the table that was my grandmother’s Christmas Tree. She was beautiful! She introduced me to the ultimate freedom of riding a bicycle without training wheels and feeling the wind in you face. That’s when I knew I was starting to grow up and I love that bike to his day.
My most memorable holiday was almost 3 years ago when I gave birth to my second child. My due date was 12/23, but he ended up waiting until 12/28 to come out. I was so cranky, my family insisted that I was about to *pop*. But it was definitely a Christmas I will NEVER forget. He was the best present I could have asked for! :)
My most memorable holiday was in 2008. We had planned it out and wrapped a present from our son and saved it for last. We gave the giftshirt to my parents while everyone was around. We hyped it up that it was from our little boy. My mom opened it and I was taking pictures and captured the surprise and happiness on everyone’s faces as they held up the shirt that announced we were pregnant! We then got to do it all over again with my in laws later that day. Seeing the pure love and happiness on everyone’s faces was a priceless memory I will never forget. We all laughed and cried together. No one had any idea!
My most memorable holiday is Christmas. As a child Christmas was always filled with excitement and wonder, Far away Family and Friends and I loved all the time hanging out with family and just being a kid. As an adult Christmas is still my favorite holiday. I love picking out special surprises for my friends and family, decorating my house, and watching my little ones eyes with all their excitement and wonder. I love carols, and concerts that my children perform in, and I love visiting with those same far away family and friends or hearing from them via a Christmas card.
My most memorable Christmas was my frst Christmas with my husband. When I was little I was always taken to and fro between divorced parents and when I got married we decided to make Christmas enjoyable and not stressful. We are always in one place on Christmas day. That first Christmas we were together at his parents house just enjoying eachother and relaxing. I am blessed to have a husband who loves and understands me so well.
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas I spent with my husband’s family…we had been dating for about 7 months at the time and it was the first time I met most of his extended family. I was welcomed with open arms and fell in love with him all the more because of this great family he has.
Thanks for the chance to win such awesome prizes!
My most memorable holiday was the first one we spent home alone as a family. It’s so nice to be home with my little family and to just spend time together creating our own family traditions :)
My most memorable holiday was Christmas, 1980. I was 10 years old and I decided to snoop around to find my presents. (My mom always waited until Christmas Eve to wrap our presents.) I was soooo excited to find a Barbie Fashion Face in my parents closet!!! It’s what I wanted more than anything!! The next morning was Christmas. And to my surprise Santa brought me a Barbie Fashion Face!! It wasn’t until I opened all my gifts that I realized my mom and dad didn’t buy me one also!! I was so sad and confused to learn there wasn’t a Santa Claus! :(
Thanksgiving when my boys are little and my grandparents are alive. When your grandparents are gone and your babies are big..it is a different feeling!
Christmas of 92 when my husband proposed in front of his family .
I would have to say that since having kids probably all of my Christmas have become even more special but i will never forget our first Christmas with our first child, he was almost one and he really enjoyed the presents and the activities!
All holidays are special but Christmas of 2008 , was my most memorable because it was the first without my mom. I never realized how much she did to make it magical not just for family but friends and sometimes even complete strangers. Which wasn’t easy on a small budget. It was the little kindness of unexpected things.
Hannakah when the candles are glowing and kids are giggling!
My most memorable my son’s first Christmas.
My most memorable Christmas was right after our son was born. He was a little over a month old and tho he was still a infant it just made the holiday so much happier with him around. Holidays have been lots more fun with him around ever since :) Thanks for a fun giveaway :)
Thanks for the fun giveaways! My favorite holiday memory as a child is stacking all the mattresses on top of each other and sleeping on the very top with all 6 siblings waiting for santa and talking all night! Don’t know how my parents let us do it, but sure glad they did. Now I just love watching my kids get excited over everything!
My favorite holiday is Christmas becuase it is the day we celebrate our Savior’s birth. I love being surrounded by my family and good friends. I wouldn’t say that there was one Christmas that stands out but I really enjoy the memories we make every year.
Growing up a sunny CA girl – we didn’t have snow for Christmas. Once I married my Canadian Hubby and we moved up near Toronto – that is all I wanted for Christmas – snow! Our first Christmas up there wasn’t forecasted to be a white one – but I prayed and prayed and on Christmas day – the snow started falling! I was so excited! I made the whole family go outside and get a pic in the falling flakes. Now every year that we go up for Christmas – I am always praying for it to be white!
We’ve had a few memorable holidays, but this Christmas is shaping up to be a great one. We are trying really hard to keep it simple and fill it with tradition and meaningful family time. We started with a gratitude project (shared by Becky Higgins) and it really has set the tone for our Christmas season as well. We’re trying to be very focused on the gifts we give as well. It’s so easy to just buy buy buy, but are they meaningful or purposeful? Not always. It is easier said than done, so ask me in a few weeks how we did. But for now we’re on track and loving it!
My most memorable Christmas was my first one with my husband. We were just starting out and didn’t have a lot of money but he did everything he could to make it special. He went out and got this huge tree and then spent hours stringing popcorn to go on it. It was so sweet.
My most memorable Christmas was the year my daughter was born. Having her made Christmas extra special that year.
The year we visited a Christmas tree farm to cut down our own tree was wonderful. The kids were small, and they thought it was a magical experience. I remember my oldest son under the tree with his dad helping with the sawing. His little legs barely made it past the lower branches.
My most memorable Christmas was my first Christmas being married. We lounged at home all morning. He got me a vacuum and the tiniest little diamond earrings. It was super special!
Last year- easily. It snowed in southern Virginia over the holiday break and the snow stayed for several days (something that doesn’t happen often so close to the coast). It was the best gift for my kids- days of playing in the snow when they usually might get a few hours each year. I also was able to take a ton of great photos of them in our winter wonderland!
My favorite holiday memory is when my son Will was a 2 month old baby and we laid him on the carpet partially under the lit Christmas tree and watched him coo and kick his feet at the beautiful lights.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Sara
Christmas 2007, I was 8 months pregnant with our first child & my husband was recovering from a major surgery. We didn’t have a lot or do anything big and special, but it was great just to be together!
It has to be when I was in the navy and I was stationed in Okinawa and I had been there for two years and I got to come home betweens duty stations for Christmas. I got snowed in in Minneapolis, got bumped off the plane, got stuck in the Atlanta airport and the plane lost my luggage. I had to wear my uniform for two days since I had no other clothes It was a disaster but I got to see my family so it was all worth it in the end. My family loved having me home and were very proud to show me off in my uniform.
My most memorable Christmas was my son’s first Christmas. Children bring so much excitement to the holiday season.
I can’t say there is ONE Christmas memory, however, I have fond memories of Christmas as a child. My dad would go to my cousin’s property and we would cut down a tree. When he brought it home mom and the older kids would decorate and I got to put tinsel on the tree. I loved doing that. I remember thinking how beautiful our tree always was. We would put the little angel chime out that when you light the candles the angels go around and the bells jingle. I still have those today. We would drink egg nog, eat the wonderful baked goods my mom made. Then Christmas Eve we would gather with her sister and family and open presents together, my dad would get silly and we would all laugh. Then in the morning Santa had come and made all our dreams come true. I don’t know how my mom and dad did it with 5 children and only one income. But every year we got the gifts we wanted. My mom and dad sacrificied a lot so we could have a wonderful Christmas. I miss those Christmases of long ago and my mom and dad. I hope my children will have fond memories of their Christmases.
My most memorable holiday is Christmas. It was the only holiday that all of my family would get together. We would get up at 3:00 in the morning a wait for the adults to make coffee while staring at the presents in such great anticipation! Then we would take naps and have an early afternoon dinner with grandpas BEST prime rib! ♥
My most memorable Christmas was 2008. My husband returned home from his deployment to Afghanistan. It was such a lovely holiday. We didn’t do big gifts, we did special family outings. Our girls were so happy to have their dad home that they didn’t care about anything else!
My most memorable holiday was probably last Christmas – my first Christmas to be in our home on Christmas with our two little girls. There’s something special about being in your own home on Christmas.
My most memorable holiday was definitely last Christmas. This was the first year my kids reall got into the whole holiday spirit! They both were so excited for Christmas and couldnt wait for every part of it! Watching their excitement was the best for me!
Most memorable, the one we surprised my mother in law for Christmas. We drove from California to Phoenix..we brought a tree, ornaments, stockings, all after she said she wasn’t going to have a tree..we spoiled her that year by taking her out to the lights at the mormon church..made special breakfast..I treasure that memory since she passed away only a few years later.
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas I was a mother. I was just floored by the reality of the gift of Christ is from a parent’s perspective, and so grateful to have my little one.
I couldn’t pick just one…my favorite part of Christmas though is all of the traditions we have made throughout the years and the special time with my family that we spend making precious memories!
My most memorable Christmas was when I was 17 years old, and it was my first Christmas with snow and a big Christmas tree. It was magical.
One of my most memorable holidays was while I was in high school. My grandmother got sick right before christmas and had to be admitted. But I was determined she wasn’t going to spend the holiday alone in the hospital. So, I brought christmas to her. I packed up a mini christmas tree complete with lights, a gingerbread house, cookies, dinner, etc and headed to the hospital on christmas eve to stay the night. I treasure these memories of time spent with her.
My most memorable holiday happened just a few years ago & surprisingly, it didn’t involve lots of presents. I had newborn twins and a 2 year old and a newly unemployed husband. We were worried how to feed our babies (formula is expensive!), let alone buy Christmas for our 2 year old. Somehow though, we had angels watching over us and we had the best (although humble) Christmas we have ever had thanks for friends, family & strangers. It taught us the true meaning of Christmas and ever since that magical holiday we try to pay it forward to someone else in need.
a wonderful Christmas spend visiting relatives in the mountains of Colorado
My most memorable Christmas was last year. My daughter was just over one. It was so wonderful to see her excitement for everything. I gave her a Project Life book with a picture a day of her first year of life. It is still her favorite book by far! I can’t wait until this Christmas where she is really starting to understand the magic.
What was your most memorable Holiday and why?
I’ll never forget the first year my family started adopting a family for Christmas. There was a boy in the family that was close to my age who I knew from church. I went with my Dad and Brother to deliver gifts to their front door and as my brother was running away, the boy answered the door and started chasing our car to see who it was. Luckily, we got away :) One of the gifts was a sweater for the boy my age and every time I saw him wear it, it just made me feel happy for Christmas and what all it can mean, thanks to the example of my parents.
I was raised on a farm in Illinois. We were never rich but got by. As a small girl one Christmas we must have had a good year. That year the house was full of gifts when we came down that Christmas morning. My sister got an organ. My other sister got a desk and I got a new bed. It was an amazing site, that living room filled with presents. I will never forget that sight.
My most memorable holiday is Christmas of 2009. My husband and I had been trying to start a family for over 3 years, and I was finally pregnant. 39 weeks pregnant. Eating everything in sight pregnant. Too big to fit into anything (even the car) pregnant…and I did not deliver until January 14th 2010. I will never EVER forgot that Christmas…I wouldn’t trade it for anything :)
Last year, the Holidays of 2010 was the most emotional and therefore, very memorable. My great-grandmother passed away in November 2010 and she had set out a beautiful Nativity display every year that she was physically able to. Since she wasn’t around, I went on a super hunt to find a beautiful set to display and set out my first one last year. I’ve already set it out this year with some added pieces I recently purchased. My plan is to keep adding as the years go by to try to make it as beautiful as hers as one way to honor her and what she enjoyed.
I love Christmas!! My most memorable may have been when I got married on Dec. 27, 1980, or maybe when my oldest son got married on Dec. 29, 2007. Can you tell that I love weddings at Christmastime too?!! :)
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2009, the last one spent with my mother-in-law, who was dying of ovarian cancer. She greeted us by throwing a snowball at my husband as soon as he stepped out of the car when we arrived, quickly followed by one at my teenage son and then darting into her house for safety and laughing through the window at them digging snow out of their ears! After dinner my kids sat at the table with her and played a board game. She kept landing on their spot and sending them back to “home” and before it was through, she was laughing so hard she cried – we all were. Instead of it being a sad memory, it is the Christmas I will always treasure.
I can’t pick just one Christmas memory…I have so many special ones. But being a Florida girl and now living in North Georgia. For he 4th Christmas now…I love the anticipation of a possible white Christmas again this year.
I guess my most memorable was when I was 10 years old and we didn’t have any decorations for the tree and we made them all ourselves. Strung popcorn, berries, made construction paper garland. I thought that was the most beautiful tree ever!
My most memorable holiday would be Christmas as a child with all my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Now everyone is so spread out that we just send cards! I love my memories though! My grandparents always had a big tree with the Halmmark ornaments that moved! It was always great to spend time with my big family!
I grew up the youngest of 5 and being the only girl… I was truly spoiled at Christmas!
Every year I would always have more presents than my brothers and would be opening them long after they were done! When I think of all the rotten things they did to me, I always think of that memory and I get a little chuckle out of it! Santa really knows who’s naughty and nice!
My Best Memories are of the Christmas Holidays. Before we had a Television we would so look forward to listening to the Cristmas Serial of “Paddy O Cinnamon Bear” on the floor in front of the big old console radio. It was about the Crazy Quilt Dragon who stoled the Star for the Christmas Tree and Paddy O Cinnamon Bear had to save the Star for the tree before Christmas Day….such fond memories!, and of course going to Midnight Mass as a family and then coming home to all are presents under the Tree…….
What sweet ladies & pretty things! When I was a child, we’d take turns with my paternal grandparents hosting Christmas. Every other year, we’d hit the snowy road for Minneapolis from our home in the Seattle area. These road trips and the time spent with my grandparents, helped me to become the person I am today. I loved crafting Christmas treasures with my grandma, shopping with my daddy, grandpa and my brothers on Christmas Eve, and frantically wrapping presents with my mom before our formal dinner that night, surrounded by pretty papers, stickers, & ribbons on the floor of my dad’s adolescent bedroom in what was the COOLEST basement ever…(As Swedish Americans, we open our gifts Christmas Eve) Ahhh, good times!
Happy December!!
: )

My most memorable holiday was one that my dad and I spent at a firehall! He was driving me back to my mom and sister trying to get us home for Christmas and we were caught in a blizzard. We stopped at some small town and the local firehall put us up along with a few other stranded travellers. My dad and I camped out by the fireplace on the floor and made our way home the next day… Christmas morning. It was strange and a little scary but my dad and I spent a great night hanging out just the two of us with no distractions. I remember falling asleep feeling very thankfull!
My most memorable holiday was when my son was first born in Dec. With my birthday 3 days before Christmas I have always had a huge stocking that the nurses put me inside at the hospital. It has my name embroidered on it with the year of my birth. I knew that my son would be born close to Christmas as well, so I made a matching stocking for him. He was born 9 days before Christmas and I put him in his stocking to photograph. I still love comparing the two photos and realizing how special a gift he truly was/is!
My most memorable holiday so far has been this last Halloween with my three year old son and husband. We went as a band of pirates and it was so fun.
Wow – great prizes and have been thinking of Christmases past. The Christmas that came to mind as memorable was the first one I spent away from my family. I married later (mid-40s) in life, and had spent all my Christmas with my family. The first one away from my family was the second Christmas I was married. Although I love my in-laws dearly, it just wasn’t the same.
My most memorable Christmas was two years ago. It actually snowed on Christmas day and for our area that was very unusual. No one wanted to drive in case it got bad so it just us for dinner… the 6 of us and daughter’s boyfriend. We all had dinner in our jammies too! The kids loved it.
One Christmas, we got stranded in the snow with my mom in this little tiny town on our way to my grandparents. Strangers gave us their hotel room, the bar tender gave us crackers and pretzels for Christmas dinner. The next day, when my mom’s car would not start, a stranger unwrapped all of her Christmas presents for her family, threw away tHe boxes and snuggled my sister and me in the back of her tiny car and drove us to my grand
Arenas house. I will never forget the kindness of strangers,,,
WOWZA! What amazing stuff!!!!!!! You girls are so generous! What great examples to me!! One of my most favorite memories of Christmas was dancing around the Christmas tree with my sisters, with poncho blankets tied around our waist while my sweet Grandma played the organ! Fun memories!!
I think my most memorable holiday was when I was very little. Our family all gathered at Grandma and Grandpa’s house for dinner and gifts. Grandma had her 1950′s silver aluminum Christmas tree decorated and we gathered around the big farmhouse table and feasted til we were stuffed. I got a suitcase full of handmade Barbie doll formals and coats and all kinds of beautiful things from Grandma, and my Uncle made my sister and I a little wooden stove and refrigerator that we could play kitchen with! A handmade holiday and one that stands out in my mind as one of the best! Thank you for the chance at some wonderful prizes!
My most memorable holiday was 2 years ago when I moved to Colorado and had my first white Christmas in 18 years, with the love of my life…magic!
My most memorable Holiday was my first Christmas that I was a mom. Nothing better than seeing the joy of a child…
My favorite Christmas has to be the one approaching quickly. I know you must be wondering… how is that possible when it has happened yet? The joy of our new baby girl will be here soon! This past year has been economically tough on our family of 3 (soon to be 4) this year. And I could count the trials, but why when the blessings have been so amazing and abundant!!! To be able to end the year with our precious princess I would have to say is the perfect Christmas 2011 :) Merry Christmas & Many Blessings to all!!!
I would have to say my son’s second Christmas. He was just over a year, and able to get into the season. Loved going around saying ho ho ho, and doing our book advent. It helped me to remember the magic of Christmas.
All of my Christmases as a child were memorable because it was my favorite and happiest time of the year. My brother and I would put out home baked cookies for Santa and go to bed early so Santa could arrive. I would wake up my brother at the crack of dawn and go wake our parents. We’d run into the den to see all kinds of toys laid out under the tree that Santa left for us. The rest of the family would come to the house for lunch and it was always fun to have everyone together.
When I was a child we would go up to my Grandparents Christmas Tree Farm in Northern Michigan and cut down our own Tree. It was a very magical time.
I love Christmas, and it’s been such a joy since my boys were born being the primary decorator, gift buyer, gift wrapper, and stocking stuffer! The first glimpse of the tree with my family on Christmas morning has always been my absolute favorite moment. As a young child, that moment had to wait until my grandparents arrived at our house Christmas morning(a rule established by my parents). My brother, sister and I waited very impatiently in our bedrooms until we heard the front door open and my grandparents voices, then we would fly down the hallway to see the tree and my wonderful grandparents both at the same time! My parents sure knew how to build the anticipation, and it’s my favorite memory, without a doubt!
My most memorable holiday ever would be the year we got stationed overseas in Japan when my husband was in the Navy. None of our household goods were there yet, so no Christmas decorations. Our Christmas tree that year was a paper drawing that my DD had made in Kindergarden. Oh she was SO proud that her picture was good enough for Santa to come that year. It was fantastic!! They were worried that Santa wouldn’t come, and I assured them that he would. He did, and their faces were precious when the found presents nestled under that picture taped up on the wall. I’ll always remember.
1999 – I’d spent a semester abroad and was returning just before Christmas. I had to connect in Cincinnati and my fiancé (now husband) surprised me in the airport and flew the rest of the way home with me. It was so sweet!
When I was a wee little one, after opening up all our presents and being so happy and over joyed, my sister and I walked into the kitchen for breakfast only to find two matching purple scooters! It was pretty awesome.
My most memorable Christmas was actually the first one I spent away from home – it was sad to not be with my family, but also the start of many new traditions and making the holidays my own! I find that I still do many things “just like Mom did”, but have added my own special twists as well! :)
Just this past Thanksgiving! I hosted all my family from all around the country. It was the first time we’ve all been together for quite a while, and we all got along fabulously and had a great time baking, cooking and sharing time together. This was the best holiday for me in a long time.
My most memorable Christmas was when Santa came to visit me at my house as a little girl and personally deliver a gift.
These are amazing gifts! My most memorable Christmas memory, was the year I finally got my cabbage patch doll as a child. My parents couldn’t get one the first year they were popular and so we had to wait an entire year for one. Loved finally having one of my own! But, nothing beats watching my children experience the magic of Christmas! Thanks for the chance.
When I was little my dad went outside and made fake reindeer hooves and sleigh tracks in our yard. It was so much fun going outside to see “Santa’s” tracks. Every year is special with my family. It keeps growing and there are more people to share it with but I will always remember when my dad went all out that one year when I was little.
I would have to say the most magical holiday I had was my first Christmas as a mom – seeing Christmas through the eyes of my children has been absolutely magical.
My most memorable would be when my son had his first Christmas. He was about 7 months old and so cute and sweet. We had a little Santa hat for him to wear. He’s 15 now and I still tear up at the pictures of him with that hat on sitting with my Mom and Dad.
The Christmas of 2009. We were awaiting the arrival our daughter as my due date was Dec 29th, and she wasn’t born until Jan 14th…I will always remember those 3 weeks that took forever to pass :)
My most memorable holiday was probably my son’s first Christmas which was spent with my Pa, along with other family members. It turned out to be my Pa’s last Christmas, so the memories I have of that time are very precious!
Playing Santa’s Elf for my grandmother which meant slipping gifts under the tree right under her nose, after decorating the tree just so, I swear she had that thing marked where each ornament went and pizza on Christmas Eve, She’s been gone 10 years now and I still miss it.
My most memorable holiday was 2005 when my 2nd daughter was born. Our whole famly from MI came to spend Christmas with us since we didn’t want to travel with a newborn. It was so nice to have everyone here at our house for christmas since we are usually the ones who make the trip to MI. Great Christmas!
My most memorable holiday When I Have ten WAS ago … The tree was so big … lights and lots of gifts …
Most memorable holiday was the first one I had as a mom. The wonder of christmas through the eyes of a child is a treasure.
My most memorable holiday was when my twin sister and I were really little and we got our “pink dollies with a string.” I don’t know what her actual name was, but we were really excited! thanks! kmassmanATgmailDOtcom
My most memorable holiday was this past Thansgiving….the thursday before Thanksgiving I had open heart surgery to replace my Aortic Valve. I am 61 yrs old….a wife, mother and nana to 7 soon to be 8 wonderful… funny…energetic and lovable grandchildren….I came home from the hospital the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and had the best Thanksgiving Day with my entire family….3 great daughter-in-laws….3 fabulous sons…and a out of this world husband….yes this indeed was the best and most memorable holiday I have ever had. Life is good!
My most magical Christmas was when my husband and I celebrated it at Disneyland.
My most memorable holiday would have to be the first Christmas spent as a married couple. We were married in August and in November my husband got orders to deploy for a year. Knowing he would be gone the next year for Christmas was hard, but made me cherish the memories. Your giveaway is very GENEROUS and I thank you for the opportunity!!
For a period of 15 years, my family lived in the Orlando area. I attended college there and met someone who was stationed at the Naval Training Center there. He wasn’t able to go home for the holidays, so he spent Christmas with our family. While he moved on in his naval career, we met many other great men and women through him….sorta like a chain. Each year, for any holiday, but especially Christmas, we had a service man or woman in our home. It was sad to see the NTC graduate it’s final class in Dec 1994, however that experience of sharing our holiday with someone who was unable to spend it with their loved ones was amazing. I now have my own son and hope he learns that as well. We still open our home to those without family close by. It might not be the service men and woman, but it is terrific all the same.
it was probably the Christmas after I turned 18. i was living in germany, far away from home, and my focus wasn’t at all on family or gifts. it was simply on what christmas was….
I am hoping that this year is my favorite memory. I will be staying home with my family of four for the first time in the ten years (since we married). Growing up we always ran from Grandma’s house to Grandma’s house… Since my kids have been born, we have traveled to be with family. This year we are going to relax and play with our toys. Hoping it is wonderful!
Christmas was always a big deal at our house. I loved it! But I thought all that would change when my Dad left our family when I was 17. He left in November so I pretty much wanted to boycott the entire Holiday season. But when Christmas came our entire extended family surprised my Mom and I and came to spend the holidays with us. We had not seen some of them in years but they dropped their own plans to come and show us love. It ended up being one of my happiest Christmas memories. It was such a beautiful example of what family means!
My most memorable holiday was the year I got a giant stuffed lion! There was a JC Penney in our downtown and for weeks – my mother said it seemed like months – everyday we would drive by the store and they had a GIANT stuffed lion in the window. As we drove by, I would say, “there’s my lion”. I was definite, it was mine, there was no talking me out of it.
So on Christmas morning, I remember my older siblings [I was the 12th child of 13], excitedly waking me up and bringing me downstairs. I remember that there seemed to be more excited anticipation on this one Christmas as they were bursting, just dying for me to see what sat in front of the tree.
As we headed downstairs, there it was….. MY lion!!! One of my older sisters saved her money from her job at the grocery store and bought it for me!
I love him! Best Christmas ever!!
My favorite Christmas as a child was the year I got my Cabbage Patch Kid. I can still remember seeing her under the tree and how excited I was! Nowadays I love seeing my own kids’ excitement! Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite Christmas memories are of the ones spent on my Grandparents farm. The family was really large and very close back then and we would spend days together preparing food, cleaning and decorating the house and we would chip in on farm chores so my Grandpa and Uncle Peter could get finshed early.
The absolute best year was the year we were able to go in a horse drawn sleigh to cut down the Christmas tree. It was so magical and even though it seems so long ago I can still remember it so clearly.
I so miss the farm but I am so very blessed to have such wonderful memories! Thank you for bringing this one back to me…;~)
When my husband and I secretly hauled a christmas tree to my grandmothers house and set it up in her living room while she slept during the night. she woke up on Christmas morning and discovered a tree decorated with ornaments that we had made. She cried and was so tickled.
I would have to say my first Christmas as a Mommy. It felt so good and complete to celebrate as a family. I remember hanging the tiny stocking and the baby’s 1st ornament on the tree!
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas we spent in China – me, my mom, and my gorgeous, newly-adopted daughter.
Such lovely items! Some lucky person is going to be ecstatic!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas from two years ago. Both of my daughters were home from college and we were able to spend time altogether as a family. We prepared our traditional 6 course Christmas Eve Dinner of Cornish Hens…all served on our favorite china and cystal. After the meal we all sat around the dining table decorating our HUGE Christmas stockings purchased from a dollar store. Each 4′ stocking was unique and whimsical. Christmas morning those stockings were all magically brimming with special gifts. We spent Christmas Day playing games and just enjoying being together.
My son’s first Christmas because even though I went way overboard I started a new tradition with my son and through his eyes.
My best memory is when my son was about 5. He was old enough to enjoy Christmas and more importantly the boxes everything came in!
my most memorable holiday was when i was a very little girl. my sister (who is 4 years older than I am) woke me up screaming “sissy, sissy, get up!!! santa brought you a hostess buffet!” now for those of you in the younger bunch, you probably have NO idea what i am referring to but it was the most exquisite little play buffet……..complete with dishes, stemware, cutlery and silver candlesticks. (all sturdy plastic, of course:) my sister and i played with that thing until one of the legs broke off and even then we propped it up with a stack of books. i loved that thing – and my sister and i to this day still talk about that wonderful christmas and that most wonderful gift!
WOW! This is one of the most generous giveaways EVER! Thank you for sharing.
My most memorable holiday was when I was serving an 18 month mission for the LDS church in Slovenija. I loved seeing what type of Christmas traditions the people there had that were different from what I was used to at home. I ♥ learning about other cultures and people and their traditions.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas a couple years back. It was our first Christmas as a married couple and we got snowed in. It was nice though to enjoy the holiday together and even go snowmobiling when everyone else was stuck inside.
My most memorable Christmas will be this one, We are finalizing the adoption of my 2 boys. After 4 years of trying to concieve this will be the Christmas I have waited for my whole life.
I treasure every Christmas spent at my Grandmother’s house in KY. My mother is one of 11 kids so the house was busting at the seams with laughter and kids having a blast!
My most memorable holiday was just a few years ago. My husband was deployed so it was up to me to keep the Christmas spirit alive. My daughters and I had a great time sending my husband a care package which included: 1 mini tree with ornaments, a stocking, wrapped gifts, and something special from all of us. On Christmas that year, my daughter woke up to Santa’s footprints all over our downstairs, especially next to the tree and treats, and being able to see their daddy via computer. The looks on their faces was precious! While it took a lot of effort from me, it sure was worth it!
my most memorial holiday???? hhhmmm…seems so hard to just pick one…I have to believe that it will actually be this Christmas. My son is 3yrs old and just so super fun. He LOVES trains and we are going on the Polar Express this weekend. He will just be thrilled. We have so much planned. I am going to make this Christmas the most memorial holiday!
This is an amazing giveaway!!
My favorite Christmas memory is related to childhood. then, iChristmas Eve was celebrated with the whole family. My grandfather would pretend that Santa came down the chimney to bring presents.
Baking with the women in my family is my best memory. I learned so much listening to all of their advice and stories from our family history.
Wow everything looks awesome. thanks for the chance to win
my last Christmas with my son, in 1986 – he passed away in 1987 at 16 months of age. it was one of few times my whole family was together, and it brings me great peace to remember him with us!
Growing impatient with the process of being dressed in one of my little pastel french-smocked dresses with the little buttons up the back and a matching cardigan, I ran from the bedroom without my silly ruffled socks and shiny black shoes with the strap that went around the ankle. There was a surprise waiting for me and I had to find it. My grandmother’s house had hardwood floors that were covered in in scratchy woolen rugs. Bedroom rug, then wooden floor, then hallway rug, then to the wooden floor in the archway between the hallway and the living room. Coming to an abrupt stop in that archway, I can still smell and see that magical tree in the window of the dining room, aglow with lights and ornaments, garlands and tinsel and snow. I can still feel the floor beneath my bare feet…and the wonder of it all. I was but two that day sixty years ago.
It was 19 yrs ago this Christmas. Our son his pregnant wife and 3 boys were living with us. Everyone had colds and the 2 oldest boys (3 yrs old) were on antibiotics. I walked into the kitchen to find them in the refrigerator with a chair… one on the chair, one down with his mouth open as his twin brother took a dropper of antibiotic and was giving another to his brother. Had no car… husband was out sight-seeing with parents who came in from Ohio, son was at work. Called “Ask A Nurse” who said to give them epikack to make them “hurl”. So (before cell phones) called son to get the medicine, got it, stripped the boys to underwear and put them in the tub so it wouldn’t be such a mess… about that time my daughter -in-law announces “Judi, my water just broke”…. called back to son’s work and he was in between two stores getting product his store was out of. Just as he pulled in to take her to the hospital (labor ensued very quickly) husband and in-laws pulled in. Mother-in-law jumped in the car with son & daughter-in-law heading to hospital. Later that night, their 4th baby boy was born, it was December 23… crazy memory.
My favorite Christmas memory, now that I’m a mom to two little girls, would have to be all the excitement they have for this holiday and seeing their joyous little faces. They are a simple reminder of what this holiday is about. We set up our nativity scenes, I have several.
As a child my favorite memory was the carrots in the front yard that the reindeer had chewed on.
Mine would have to be the Christmas of 2006 when my husband proposed to me. I was laid up in bed with the flu and he did everything he could to make it a better Christmas and let me tell you he did. :)…….Oh and that was also the year we had stuck a blow up snowman in his step dads front yard while he was not home. That was also an eventful night.
Last Christmas.. because we had our first baby last year, March.. My husband Mark and I were married almost 12 years when we found out we were expecting her. Lily truly is a gift.. she just lights up our lives. Last Christmas she was in awe of all the lights. She made our Christmas so special.. well everyday is so special with her.. but Christmas brings a smile to my face because children beam! I can’t wait for this Christmas’ memory!
I’m sure most of the responses will be sentimental. But…. my most memorable holiday moment was last Christmas. We had a big family dinner and my father in law had invited one of his co-workers and his wife to dinner with us. My then two year old was sitting across from his wife at the dinner table and was totally flirting with her. Everyone was cracking up and telling him he better watch out when Holden (the 2 year old) got older. It was such a fun day and we even all talked about it at Thanksgiving last week!! So, it was definitely a memorable moment for everyone. :)
Guess I’m not the only one who got engaged on New Year’s Eve!! But that was in 2003 and my most memorable Holiday definitely.
My most memorable Christmas was the first one that I was married, in 1993 – we did not have a tree (we decorated a plant) we lived in a small place but cozy. Both of us were away from our family home but together we made Christmas great! That year I started a book it has 25 years of Christmas memories in it – I have faithfully kept the book through the years and each year a photos of us and our tree along with a paragraph on our year past and the current holiday – what a great keepsake! It is hard to believe that now 18 years are in the book – each Christmas is special and we can remember them together!
One of my favorite holiday memories is delivery coats and toys to some of my Mom’s elementary students anonymously.
My most memorable Christmas was my daughters second Christmas. She was 21 months & she was really into opening presents & loved the tree [she was terrified of it the year before]. I loved seeing the excitement & joy she had when she first walked into the living room & saw all those presents. She unwrapped everyones presents & cried when she didn’t have anything else to unwrap, remember thinking ‘we could have just wrapped a ton of empty boxes & she would have been fine with that’ =)
My most memorable is more than one. Every Christmas eve night from age 6-15 we stayed at with my Aunt and her 5 kiddos and my maternal grandma and woke up together Christmas morning. So much fun, excitment and LOVE.
My most memorable holiday was my son’s first Christmas. He was less than one month old. Grandparents and great-grandparents came to us, with food and merriment, loved on the baby and celebrated in our little abode. I still remember the way the house felt, smelled, looked–all merry and electric with new life.
My daughter was born Nov 30, 2009.
Perfectly timed just for the holiday season, when I felt frumpy, I could still walk into a stylish party with her on my arms and be the center of attention.
All of December 2009 was wonderful, a true testament that the holiday season is for kids and once you have one, all the magic that subsided years ago, comes rushing back.
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas my son was born. He was born in early December and had to go back in the hospital as a newborn. We spent a week waiting and praying and at the end of that week we were able to go home. Since he was due to arrive soon after Thanksgiving I had everything ready before then…presents wrapped, food in the freezer, so we were able to enjoy that Christmas with no hustle and bustle and stress.
It was also memorable as I reflected on Mary that first Christmas and having a newborn in her arms.
My most memorable Christmas was the year my family had me go on a scavenger hunt to find my gift which was a handmade Barbie House when I was 7 years old. I will never forget it!
My most memorable holiday…Christmas when I was 15. I got a 35 mm camera from my mom and step-father. I took a photography class in high school and LOVED it! A camera was a perfect gift for me. Have loved photography ever since!
I loved Christmas as a child; it was always so magical. My most memorable Christmas though, was when my son was 3 years old. Each time he was give a gift he would say “what’s it gonna be?” in a sing song voice. He loved everything about it, the wrapping, the box, and the gift. So wonderful to experience Christmas with the awe and wonder of a child.
I have to say the most memorable Christmas for me was a few years ago when I lost one of my young nieces to a car accident. It’s a sad memory each year on Christmas Day but it has made me so aware that time is precious and you shouldn’t waste it by not telling those that you love how important they are to you. Live each day as if it was your last, has become my motto and that is a good way to live your life. Happy Holidays everyone!
I am 34 years old, and I would say one of the most memorable holidays for me happened just last year! We have 3 boys of our own, and last year we took in a young man who was 17 years old, who had no place to go. I am a stay at home Mom, who homeschools her children, and my husband works for a non profit org. The Boys and Girls Club. So needless to say, we don’t pull in alot of money. When Christmas time came, we were of course, under pressure to buy gifts for 4 boys. Out of the overflow of the hearts of many board members of the club my husband works for, they called and asked for the top 3 presents each child was asking for, and on Christmas Eve they delivered what I would consider “a butt load” of presents! We were simply, amazed;thankful. It was a great Christmas morning for my boys! God is good!!
I would love any of the 4 gifts mentioned, especially the Project Life!
Three years ago, I gathered all the family recipes and scrapbooked them as gifts for my family members (4 brothers, 1 sister, and 8 nieces and nephews). Several of them are dishes my mother has cooked for years but didn’t have in written recipe form. I captured her verbal instructions for posterity. I think this was the best received gift I have ever given. My mother is 86 now so every year is precious with her. She still cooks for our large family and I wanted to be sure we had her recipes forever.
Well this may sound silly but one of the most memorable Christmas mornings for me was about a bike. My husband and our neighbors always spent part of Christmas eve together putting together toys for our children that we had kept hidden in one anothers’ garage. The next morning, the children woke us at the crack of dawn and when we went into the living room to see what santa had left, I expected to see 2 little tike bikes but lo and behold there was a full size womens bike in the middle of all the gifts. I had once confided to hubby that I never had a bike as a child because we could not afford one and I felt so blessed that our little girls would each get bikes from Santa. That darling man had Santa deliver a bike to me that Christmas, along with the childrens bikes! I still can feel the tears even though it was 40 years ago (alm ost). I still have the hubby but not the bike!
I would say 1996. My due date was 12/25/96. Kaitlyn wasn’t going to wait and was born 12/12/96 one after our 3rd wedding anniversary.
Christmas about 7 years ago, spent with my father in a hospital in Taiwan. He was being treated for terminal cancer, and I had taken a couple of months off work to go there & help take care of him. We were stuck in the hospital, but decorated the room with a mini tree & mini stockings, and just enjoyed some time together. It was a very memorable and special last holiday with him.
My most memorable Christmas was a sad one, when my young niece was taken in a car accident. It’s a hard memory each year on Christmas Day but it has made me so aware that you should not waste the moments you have, and be sure to tell those you love how important they are to you. My motto these days has become “live your life like each day is your last”, so you don’t miss an opportunity to be with your loved ones and make a good mark in the world. Happy Holidays to everyone.
my most memorable holiday was more than 35 years ago…easter..it had snowed and i saw prints to my door…i thought it was the easter bunny! i loved it!
When I was a kid, I loved playing Legos. Specifically the Space Legos. I had wanted the space monorail system for awhile. I had asked on my birthday, but didn’t get it. So I figured Santa would bring it. When I wrote my list it was the only thing on it that year. My mother asked if there was anything else I wanted Santa to bring. Nope, that was the only thing I wanted. Even when I visited Santa, all I could talk about was the monorail.
So Christmas morning came and there were a bunch of presents for my sister and I. As soon as I picked up the large box, I could hear the Legos sliding around inside. I was so excited! There was a flurry of wrapping paper as I tore through it.
I spent the whole day playing with that toy. I opened other gifts, but never played with anything else that whole day.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2006. My now husband FINALLY proposed after 14 years together. It was very unexpected and wonderful. My family was in on it…but I was not, obviously. We were married in 2008. and we celebrate 2 anniversaries each year…when we started dating (19 years in dec) and when we got married (4 years in April 2012). But my 2008 holiday was the best ever!
Christmas when I was 10, I got a banana-seat bicycle–that was the most memorable. Even more meaningful now because of the fact that my grandpa assembled and embellished it especially for me.
I would have to say it was when I was a caregiver for a young man who had cerebral palsy and who was unable to speak, so we communicated in ASL. It was at a time in my life where I was a little bitter and a lot cynical. My heart began to soften again working with this man as he’d never let a special detail pass. A bird in a tree? He’d grab my shirt and make me stop. A favorite Christmas carol? He’d get tears in his eyes and insist I’d sing, until I was singing like I meant it, with the best vibrato I could muster. And best of all, often when we’d walk by a nativity set his mother had lovingly and proudly set out, the same one she displayed year after year for her seven children she’d raised, he would stop and point, “Look, so beautiful!”. That was his last Christmas, and I cherished every moment along with him.
My most memorable holiday was christmas in 2003
My mother had lost her job that year and wasnt able to buy gifts for our family. I was in high school at the time and working so i was able to buy gifts for them all and addressed them on the tag from “santa”. We didn’t get many gifts that year but we spent the day with with each other. my mother was not ashamed about not being able to get gifts. i felt so happy and greatfully i that i could do that for them. This year instead of buying gifts for each other we are going to sponser a family and eaxh buy a gift for a member of another family in need.
I don’t know if I could pick a favorite Christmas, but as my girls have gone away to college and come home for the holiday I so appreciate our time with all of us together.
Christmases of my childhood are my favorite memories, but one stands out in my mind. My sister and I were fighting on Christmas Eve when there was a knock on our door. There was no one at the door, but stuck inside was a note from Santa telling us he was watching and if we didn’t stop fighting he might have to skip our house! It was even written in gold ink.
The Christmas that always makes me smile is the year both of my girls were truly old enough to “understand” the art of gift receiving (and a little giving too)… i’d spent weeks hand painting a doll house that had been passed down through my family for two generations. I stayed up late Christmas eve, adding all the finishing touches, and when I was finally satisfied it had come out perfect and my work was finished I carefully settled it under the tree and arranged the dolls and furniture so they would be the first thing the girls would see when tip-toeing downstairs the next morning. Christmas morning arrived at 5:30 a.m. that year, and i woke up to two beautiful faces (giggling excessively while they peeked at me sleeping) “WAKE UP MOMMY!!! IT”S CHRISTMAS AND WAIT TIL YOU SEE… SANTA was HERE and he LEFT US PRESENTS!” But first, before they pulled us both downstairs, they opened their cupped hands to reveal the most wonderful gifts I’ve ever received- things they had made with all the love in their hearts just for their Mommy. I truly became a Mom that morning because I realized they had worked just as hard as i had been, to see my face light up first.
My most memorable Holiday was when my grandmother was still alive. My mom worked so we helped to prepare as much of the meals as possible before mom got home. While doing so I put on some music to listen to, I left the room and when I came back I found my grandmother dancing by herself in the room. I thought it was the cutest thing and she just laughed because she was kind of embarrased. <3
My most memorable holiday was two years ago when we sang our traditional 12 days of Christmas. We do this every year. It was special because we had no idea it would be the last time we would get to do that with my grandmother. She passed away later that year and I treasure the memories of her that Christmas.
my first in Arizona with no snow, a little sad, but happy to be near family for the holidays!
One of my most memorable holidays was Christmas morning when I was about 4 or 5 years old. My godfather had stayed over Christmas Eve and I didn’t know it. When I went downstairs with my mom and dad, I entered the living room first and saw an arm of someone asleep in the chair. I almost passed out because I thought it was Santa and that he had fallen asleep at our house!
I love Christmas. Growing up we would spend time with both side of the family, but Christmas morning was always just the five of us, and mom always made us a special breakfast. We are all still getting together on Christmas day but now there are 17 in the family and we have a fabulous brunch together so we can also enjoy a quiet morning at home with our own small families.
My most memorable holiday was actually my holidays spent in Morocco when I was a kid. We lived there for 5 years with my parents. Celebrating Christmas on a beach and looking at Santa on a camel are unforgettable!!
One year my family stayed with my great-grandmother for Christmas. We arrive on Christmas eve, and found that no one had been able to help her put up decorations. We couldn’t find the ones she had in the attic. My uncle found a tree in the woods on her land. Then my mom, my sister, my grandmother, and my aunt made ornaments and decorations from paper, foil, ribbon, and anything else festive we could find. We braided dry grasses from the yard to create little wreaths for the tree. We strung popcorn garland. It was totally magical, and is one of my earliest crafting memories
Every holiday is memorable in my family. Just being together as a family, decorating the tree, watching the kids faces light up over gifts they receive, I could go on and on…..but one funny memory was when we had our usual Santa visit from a family friend on Christmas Eve and my son was so stumped as to why Santa sounded just like our friend Milton. (Milton has a very distinct Minnesotan accent). Maybe this year he will figure it out! LOL!
My most memorable holiday had to be the Christmas when I received an engagement ring as a surprise and it REALLY was a surprise!!
My most memorable holiday was the day after (yes, after) Christmas in 2007. That was our first Christmas as parents and also the day I found out that I had gotten pregnant without the help of science! We had tried and tried for several years then had our first blessing through in-vitro in June of 2007. We were then asked what method we wanted to use to avoid pregnancy–my response “are you kidding me?” I took a test the day after Christmas and it was positive immediately. I’ll never forget a friend calling me that day and asking what I had gotten for Christmas—my happy & surprising response was “Pregnant!!!!”
most memorable…just last year! my sister and her three beautiful children were forced from their home, due to a domestic violence situation, and moved in with my parents. Financially it was not going to be a rich Christmas, but it was rich in so many other ways, as friends and neighbors offered assistance! Generous people in the community helped with holiday dinner items and gifts for the kids. I live alone and stayed with them that Christmas Eve night. I do not ever remember experiencing the excitement, joy and love that my family shared that night and Christmas morning; watching the children light up with genuine joy! After what they had been through, they were able to move past it and be “in the moment” and loving individuals made it possible by sharing themselves! The true meaning of Christmas!
When I was growing up, my uncle worked at the Christmas tree lot at St. Lukes Church. One night my Dad and Mom took us to pick out our Christmas tree. My Uncle talked my Dad into buying this huge tree. Unbeknownst to my Dad the trunk was crooked and my Uncle was holding it up straght. He told my Dad that he would sell it to him cheap. When we got it home and put it in the tree stand, it would fall over. We had one of those old houses that had a pocket door in the wall. My Dad pulled out the door and tied a string around the trunk and stapled it to the door. We had to be sure that no one would open the pocket door. It still is one of the funniest Christmas memories that I have from when I was growing up.
My most memorable Holiday would have to be Christmas when I was in preschool. I got to play Mary in the Christmas play and my cousin was Joseph. I was so excited and thought that I needed to bring my Cabbage Patch Doll to play baby Jesus. Of course we didn’t get to use the doll, but I can so vividly remember what everyone was wearing and all the songs we sang. To this day, my favorite Christmas song is Silent Night because it reminds me of the little preschooler I used to be playing Mary-when life was simple and Santa Claus was real!
My favorite Holiday was the first Chirstmas after i got married. It was my first Chirstmas away from my family which was so hard for me. Me and my husband lived in a different State from them. But it was just the two of us with our 1st little bun in the oven!! I was 16 weeks pregnant, been married for only 6 short wonderful months and life couldnt have gotten any better. The holidays have always been such a special time for me but having my own little family and starting my own traditions made them even more sweet.
My Dad tragically died October 16, 1973. My twin sister and I had asked “Santa” for desks for our bedroom before he died. Being 9 years old and knowing that it isn’t really “Santa” who would provide the desks, we didn’t utter another request for them because we knew our mom had no money for Christmas gifts. We heard “Santa and the elves” arrive in the middle of the night….they came in through the front door. Somehow my mom had purchased desks that needed to be finished and friends of hers came to the rescue and made sure those desks were stained and delivered. The next morning as two very excited little girls opened up the desk drawers, we discovered that “Santa” had left gifts for our mom inside. Even as a little girl I understood a little of the love and sacrifice…..and the magic and surprise of Christmas. A Christmas I will always remember. (And our youngest daughters are still using those desks today!)
My most memorable holiday was Xmas 2003. It was the last one I ever celebrate with my beloved Grandfather. He died a month after Xmas. He was in a care home after suffering a lifetime of strokes, the last of which finally meant we could no longer manage his needs at home. Xmas morning, we packed up early and took the ferry across the lake to open gifts and have lunch (turkey dinner) with him. I knew that day he was in the process of failing, so I made sure to make the day count. I knew it would be the final Xmas we shared. I am grateful that we were able to be concious of the fact of how precious and fleeting that time was. I miss him every day.
Wow, how exciting!! My most memorable Holiday was Christmas of 1999. I had my sweet baby girl 11 days before that and it was our first Christmas as a family. Amazingly precious and unforgettable. :)
- April W
My most memorable Christmas was the first year we lived in our house. Even though we moved in on December 3 (imagine the mess), we still had a beautiful holiday together in our new home.
My most memorable would be the Christmas that my son, who has autism, showed an interest in a gift. For years he would not want the gifts opened at all. A couple of years ago we put a package on his lap and he ripped that wrapping paper off so quickly we were stunned! Such a turn around and an unexpected gift for his dad and I!
Christmas 1998 our youngest child was about to turn one and all five of our kids where still believers!
My most memorable holiday……
I would say the 1st year we were married. I loved that it was just us 2 and we started making our Christmas memories and traditions together.
There are so many memorable holidays, but I would have to say that the one that comes to mind is my first Christmas with my daughter. Everything changes when you become a parent – for the better. :)
It would have to be when I was a kid and Cabbage Patch kids came out and they were impossible to get….. And I had one on Christmas morning :)
Our first Christmas with our son…Christmas is so beautiful and simple with children.
My favorite holiday memory? Every year we would drive out to my paternal grandmothes for christmas eve..since we never saw her or my great grandmother alot it was a treat..but the best part? My brother and I laying our heads back in the rear window (before seatbelts) and watching the stars go by on the crisp cold air, singing christmas carols at the top of our voices with my dad…he was quite the crooner!!
My most memorable holiday time would have to be when I was 3-4 years old. I just remember being so mesmerized by my grandma’s picture window that she painted so festive and her tree. Just the anticipation of knowing Santa was coming and we would all sit and listen for his bells. I even remember my outfit.. red/black dress with cats and my black gogo boots. Nothing more magical than a kids Christmas.
Hard to choose. I think it was as a child when we shopped for another family and delivered Christmas presents and a full Christmas dinner to a sweet family in need and saw the look in their eyes as we watched secretly from our car window.
MY favorite Christmas as a child was the year it was really warm and we got to ride our brand new bikes in the dark and we were wearing shorts!
12 24 1982 – Because I gave birth to my daughter that Christmas Eve! She was a gift then and remains a daily gift in my life today.
Oh so many wonderful memories to treasure, from a handmade quilt from my grandmother, to our first Christmas as a married couple, to that first child, then each additional child, and now working on memories with the grandchildren, we have so very much to be thankful for, we are truly blessed.
Every Christmas Eve we would go to my grandparents house to celebrate with family. There was a always a gift exchange for us kids. Grandma always knit us each a pair of slippers and tucked $5.00 in the toe! At midnight we would go to mass and than return to grandma’s house for homemade pizza and Italian sausage. Then we would head home so Santa could deliver the toys! Up bright and early the next day…opening gifts and then back to grams for homemade pasta and sauce!! What could be better than that!!!
Most memobrable was a Christmas when we had my 4 year old daughter tell the grandparents that she was going to be a big sister. My mom thought I was looking kind of big for only being a few weeks along and some other people said something also. Turns out that 2 weeks later we found out we were having twins!! So fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW … what GORGEOUS giveaways! My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas my son was in awe of the Christmas lights and decorations in the house and outside. We are reliving that same excitement this year with my daughter …
My most memorial holiday was the Christmas I was 8 years old and got my first Raggedy Ann doll. I had that doll for years and years until she eventually just fell apart. My mom had mended her so many times! That is still one of my most favorite gifts.
My most memorable holiday would be any Christmas spent with my grandmother. My grandmother loved Christmas and would decorate her house from top to bottom. The two of us would go in the wood looking for a “sticker bush” so we could make a gumdrop tree. Then we would come back and turn the bush into something spectacular and filled with gumdrops. It was something so simple but yet something that I will always remember. She passed away about 6 years ago and I miss her terribly but those memories are something that will always be with me.
My most memorable holiday would have to be Christmas of 1983. My oldest was born on December 22 and we came home in a raging snowstorm on Christmas Eve. We were snowed in for a few days with our first child. It was a very special holiday!
My most memorable holidays were when I was a little girl, being raised by a single Mom who worked hard to support my younger brother and I while money was often in short supply. My Mom who taught herself to decorate cakes, would always make my brother & I our very own special cake, completely decorated with homemade butter cream icing of all colors. My favorite were the doll cakes she made with perfect rosettes, while my brother loved her train cakes. She truly showed us love & made us feel so special in receiving these beautiful cakes each year. This was over 40 years ago and while she doesn’t make too many cakes anymore due to health challenges, she was able to help me (who did not inherit her cake decorating skills) decorate a cake for my young daughter to carry on the tradition of “feeling special” by receiving a special cake. She made cakes popular gifts way before Buddy the Cake Boss did (although -we do love his show!) Happy Holidays!!
All the holidays are special to me because they bring the family together but the most special are Christmas 1990, when my husband proposed. Also, each first Christmas for my three girls were extra special.
My most memorable Christmas was the year our son returned home after serving a two year church mission. He got home on Dec. 23rd. It was the best!
My most memorable holiday would have to all of them to this day. We have been doing the same thing for Christmas Eve and Christmas day since I was a child. On Christmas Eve we spend with my grandmother, and exchange gifts with her and have a big family dinner. On our way home, we always drove around to all the different subdivisions and looked at all the decorations people have out. On Christmas day, my parents have eveyone over to there house, and again, we have another big family dinner and exchange gifts with everyone!
My MOST favorite holiday memory is when I was about five years old. The ENTIRE family would gather on Christmas Eve at my grandmother’s house in New Jersey. We would visit, have a special dinner for the Swedish Side of the family and then we would open family Christmas Presents. ONE year Santa Claus even came! All of the cousins were all young, and this one Christmas made a lasting memory in my mind. It’s the one memory that I have of being REALLy really happy during the Holiday Season!
Wow, I’m, excited! The most memorable Holiday? there are so many, but The Christmas we managed to make our 3, 8 and 9 year old sons believe there still was a Santa Claus is one of my favorites. We had just moved, we were broke (in fact had filed for bankruptcy, and I was pregnant and sick . We managed to pull off 2 new bicycles and hid them in the attic in the garage until 5 am on Christmas day! IT HAD TO BE SANTA! who else? It is still our favorite story 20 years later! (ps, we had a girl)
My most memorable holiday was the year I got my Mrs. Beasley doll! I found her under my mom’s bed (fall of 1971) and every time I thought I could get away with it, I would sneak in her room to visit Mrs. Beasley in her shiny cardboard and cellophane box. I wanted to pull her string so badly! But I feared getting caught… Finally Christmas Eve arrived, we had food and family all evening, then loaded up in my dad’s 67 Chevy Impala to go to Midnight Mass. When we returned from mass, there she was under the tree! I pretended to believe that Santa had brought her while we were in church, but truthfully I felt like I was unwrapping an old friend! Finally I could pull her string!!
Most memorable holiday? Christmas, around 1982, when my brother was driving us to Seattle to spend the afternoon with our mother and family (after Christmas morning with our dad). Suddenly the engine sputtered and died, the car stopped dead on the freeway, and there we were – stranded. In the days before cell phones, my brother had to walk to an exit to find a pay phone while I waited in the car with another brother. My grandfather drove up to meet us, and then towed our car with a big rope he tied to the back of his car (why pay for a tow truck??) while I steered and braked as needed in the dead car. Not quite how we thought we’d spend the afternoon!
I was very ill a few years ago and in the hospital. My husband brought me a small tree with lights for my hospital room. I was miserable because I was away from my 2 children. The doctor reluctantly let me come home on Christmas Eve. When we pulled up to my house, my husband and boys had decorated the huge cypress tree in our yard with colored lights. All I could do was cry from the joy of being with my family.
I guess the christmas that i remember most is the one where woke up extremely early Christmas morning and seen my mom putting together a Barbie townhouse. I was quickly ordered straight to bed and was told that Santa was behind schedule and had asked her to help!
Christmas of 2009 was my most recent “best” Christmas. Both of my sons were in Bible college, and because of their jobs, neither one would be able to come home for Christmas. I had resigned myself to not having them home, but I was still weepy about it down to Christmas Eve. About 10:00 that night, someone knocked on our door. I looked out and saw one of my older son’s best friends and was a bit shocked and wondered if something was wrong. When I opened the door, my two boys jumped out from behind him yelling, “Merry Christmas!” A sister church had paid for our boys to be flown home on Christmas Eve (not cheap!) so that they could spend Christmas Day with us. Our older son had to go back the day after Christmas, but we were so thankful that they could both be with us that one day!
Going to my grandparents farm on Christmas day was the joy of my life and still leaves the most memorable moments. Before my Grandpa fired up the wood stove in their living room their only heat…all off us grandkids would migrate to that room just to smell the Christmas tree. They would keep that tree in water in that ice cold room for weeks which created that wonderful smell. To this day every time I smell fresh greens it brings me right back to my childhood and that wonderful time in my life. I don’t think enough good can be said about the importance of special memories like that. Now that I am 60….it’s even more special to think about that time in my life.
I can’t believe how difficult I am finding this question! To narrow it down to one holiday memory is nearing impossible. I would have to say it would be the one year my grandparents arrived (they lived far away and would come stay with us for about a week during christmas) and after dinner they sat down to play cards with my parents. There were lots of gifts under the tree that they brought and my sister and I were so anxious to open a present early…we made picket signs and put them on broom sticks and marched around the dining room begging to open a present. They finally gave in and let us open one gift…it was a deluxe edition of monopoly that came with the spinner holder thing for all of the property cards. So exciting!! :)
My favorite Christmas just became last years-2010. My mom passed away this summer, so I really treasure how wonderful last years Christmas was with her. Ill miss her dearly this year, she loved the holidays.
I think my most memorable Christmas holiday was in 1978, when my daughter was born. I was so crazy about her, and had so much fun buying for her. There is nothing like looking in your baby girl’s eyes and seeing the love there.
After having kids all our Christmases have been great. Just seeing the holiday through their eyes. But in 2008 we had a snowstorm and were snowed in for 2 weeks! A rarity in the Pacific NW. It was fun to just hang out at home and not worry about any of the craziness of Christmas and just enjoy each other.
New Year’s Day 1998. Our first of 4 sons was born.
The first year my parents came from Florida to celebrate Christmas with family was very special.
First, great giveaway! Thank you for the generous opportunity!
My favorite holiday memory: Every year, Christmas morning has been at my parents… even as a married woman. The nostalgia of waking up early and hurrying to the living room to see the filled stockings and to finally open gifts. As a child it was always about what we got.. and even now as an adult that part is fun {of course} but seeing my family open their gift from me–that is now part of the holiday joy. Then a delicious breakfast and sip mimosas spending time as a family. I love it! This year will be the first Christmas with out mom…. I know I am not alone in having a first holiday without a parent, I hope that the magic of the season carries me and others like me through the holidays and ready to begin a new year.
Cheers~Ivy
One of my most memorable holidays was one when I was around 10 I believe. I lived on a farm with my grandparent whom raised me and we had a rather large living room but since we were on a farm it gets rather draft and cold in those rooms in the winter time especially in Iowa. My uncle (rest his soul) Bob was an amazing baker and we shut off the livingroom and moved into the formal dining room leaving the living room basically a refrigerator so to speak. My uncle baked dozens and dozens of various cookies, bars, fudge and candy and we were quickly running out of room in the kitchen. My grandma (whom I refer to as MOM since she raised me) had taken all of the chairs in the house and put them in the livingroom and we had cookie sheets, tins and boxes full of all the goodies my uncle had made all spralled on these chairs, it was quite the site. Regardless of how cold it was in that room you could not keep any of the family out of there all Christmas Day and that is a memory that will stick with me for a lifetime.
My most memorable Christmas was the first year our family lived in Upstate New York, where we had moved from California. The beautiful winter scenery and snow was just magical!
One of my favorite memories came just last year. I’m married to a wonderful man, who happens to be a contractor/handyman and have two great sons, 23 and 17. I am an Interior Designer with a passion for salvaging furniture and am finding more and more time to invest in that passion, as the “empty nest” is coming soon. Last Christmas morning, after all of the gifts had been opened, the last gift was given to me and was a beautiful collection of poems and rhymes that took me on a treasure hunt, all over the house. It ended at the door of my workshop with the last clue on the door! Lo and behold, upon opening the door, I was so surprised to find my very own bullet compressor with all of the wonderful attachments. I have made so many creations and had more fun using my Christmas present throughout the year. The love and effort that my three guys put into the giving of that gift is one of my favorite stories to tell! Sometimes, tools are a girl’s best friend! Thanks so much for letting me share!
My most favorite Christmas memory from my childhood came when I was in 10 grade. In our wouth department were 3 siblings who we were close to. Their dad was dying from cancer and they were not able to afford presents for what would be their last Christmas with their dad. Our folks explained to us that they could only afford to do Christmas for just one family. If we decided to give Christmas to this family, then we would not have anything under the tree at our house. We knew we would have our dad to celebrate Christmas with us the next year, so we asked for our friends to receive the presents? Our folks took us grocery shopping for the ingredients of a fine Christmas meal. We got each family member 3 gifts each. we wrapped the presents in excitement. Our folks took us to their home. As they opened the door, they opened the door to Cbristmas. Tears abounded….and that moment changed my life. On Christmas morning, we woke up to discover the best Christmas ever. There were presnts
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2004. It was the last time all of my children and grand children were with us in our home in the mountains for NY state. Now we will in Texas and love it but the kids and grands are all scattered around the US and we are unable to all get together for Christmas. =( It was a wonderful memory that this Mom will teasure forever!
My most memorable christmas was 2004, my dad was very sick and we surprised him with a puppy to keep him company when he was home alone…..It was precious to see the look on his face. That was the last Christmas we had with my dad, but I have MANY amazing memories to look back on and smile :).
I have three most memorable Christmas’s- 1980, 1986 and 1988– each of those years we had a newborn baby Daughter– the 18, 22 and 23rd! Crazy but wonderful! They are all grown now but I still make sure not to wrap their birthday presents in Christmas paper!!
My most memorable holiday was the one when my husband, my wonderful daughter and I traveled with our entire extended family of 17 to Mexico for an unconventional and unforgettable family holiday! My Mom’s smile ear to ear was the gift of a lifetime!
Oh what great giveaways! Thank you!
My most memorable is the first year I was married to my DH! We got married Dec. 18th so we spent our first Christmas, just us, together in the Bahamas!! Great memories made!
My last few Christmases have been some of my favourites as I have two young boys to enjoy them with. It is lovely to continue all the Christmas traditions that I enjoyed as a child, but now with my own.
I loved the year we spent in UT with my Grandparents….I was just certain Santa wouldnt know where to find me…he did though!! Loved that year…it was a white Christmas too!
I’ve had many memorable Christmas mornings, but the one that still gives me tears is the first Christmas for my twin boys. Why, you ask? Well, my husband and I have trouble conceiving for years. Every day that pasted for several years was consumed by thinking of ‘maybe today’ for when I got pregnant. Most days were welcomed with depression and heartache. Those years can be summed up in one word .. GRUELING.
However, 4 years ago, I finally conceived due to modern technology and wonderful doctors. That task in itself was difficult to say the least. But the end result was FABULOUS! I am now the mother of 2 healthy, handsome twin boys!
I would love to create a book for them using the Project for Life kit.
The most memorable holiday was the year we build the big dollhouses. Two of them…tons of work but the girls had so much fun with them. My mom made Christmas trees for each of them with felt tree skirts. They have now been passed down to the grands.
One of my most memorable holidays was the Christmas we couldn’t get our oldest daughter to settle down and go to sleep on Christmas Eve. We finally opened the front door and pointed and said, “we see him, we see him~you better get to bed! Santa can’t come if you are awake!” She responded that she could see him too and scooted off to bed! We were all asleep soon and the next morning enjoyed all the goodness that Christmas brings, especially enjoying our precious family and the realization of Christ Incarnate.
If I answer honestly I’d have to say that my most memorable holiday was the Christmas after my mom died very suddenly. She passed away 10 days before Christmas. My family was all very shocked. She was way too young (not even 60). We had no shopping done and half of the family decorations weren’t up. We pulled together and celebrated anyway. It was her favorite holiday (mine too…still is) and we wanted to celebrate in her memory. It was oddly comforting in a way. I’ll never forget the way we pulled together as a family.
Awesome giveaways!
Oops…..hit the wrong button……
My most memorable was my first with my husband of many years. I was in a horrific relationship before him for many many years and now I feel like everyday is Christmas because the true meaning of Christmas shines within our relationship like never before! Thanks for letting me share!
My first Christmas as a new mom was the most magical! That was 26 years ago, and I have to say that every Christmas since then has been the best!!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2005 because that is when I gave birth to my son, Noah. (He was four weeks early!) It was the most precious gift that I ever could have received!
I love Christmas, it is really hard to pick a favorite Christmas! I have been very fortunate to always be with family during the Holidays:)
I try to live in the present and not compare to previous years. Mostly, I try to make new memories and traditions each holiday. That way, each year becomes my new “favorite”… until next year!! Happy Holidays!
My most memorable holiday would be Christmas 1985 when my wonderful husband and I got engaged. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past July and life is good!!!
It was Thanksgiving 2001- we got engaged the weekend before Thanksgiving and we were so happy to share the news with everyone that Thanksgiving. What a happy moment!
I will never forget the Christmas that I got my first bike, complete with a banana seat! In the darkness of the room I thought it was a reindeer!! That Santa had left me a reindeer =)
My most memorable holiday was last Christmas. My kids were 2 & 3 and both really starting to understand the magic of Christmas. It was the best feeling to see such joy and excitement in the faces.
I think the Christmas after my nephew was born almost 19 years ago was one of my favorites. He as a great gift to the family and everyone was always lit up and happy when he was around his first Christmas at 3 weeks old.
Well, I will soon be 65 and have been blessed with amazing Christmas celebrations all my
life!!! However, having been diagnosed with an extremely rare disease in 2008 and given 4-6
months to live….my fondest memory now is sharing the Christmas miracle with my amazing
husband, five daughters, and many praying friends :) that year!!! My daughters (one of whom selflessly became my caregiver for 2 years…another moved home for 3 months to help) and son-in-law traveled from all over the country to make sure we were all together at such a special time.
That was 3 CHRISTMASES AGO!!! and they just keep getting better and better. We now have 4 sons-in-law and one amazingly beautiful grandson; and I am still here to love all my family and be loved by them! :D
The memories that are most special is my DAD at Christmas. When he was growing up as a child Christmas was never special. As an adult he tried his best to make sure Christmas was always special. He died 10 years ago and every Christmas eve we open a present for him and then give it to a elderly person at the local nursing home who doesn’t have family.
D
I can still picture my grandma Kooyman sitting on my parents couch in her blue housecoat. We had just finished opening presents and all sat down as grandma opened the bible to read the story of the birth of Christ. I can stll hear her voice in my heart as I cherish her dear memory and her unconditional love for those around her! She gave us the gift of a deep rooted belief in human kindness and love :)
July 4th 1959 is my most memorable Holiday. It is the day I met my DH. We spent the day together and he asked if he could see me again, I said ” I should say no, because I’d be dumb enough to fall in love with you, and hat would cause all kinds of problems with my parents.”. But I did not say no and yes it caused problems, by the Grace of God they were worked out and we celebrated our 50th Anniv. in August.
Our entire family was enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving feast, and when it came time to clear the dishes we found that we were not the only ones who had been dining. Our german shepard had helped herself to the remainder of the turkey in the kitchen. The bird was on the floor with barely a scrap for leftovers.
No one holiday stands out as being the most memorable. Every Christmas was wonderful & magical growing up and my hope is that my children grow up with these same fond memories. Thanks for the fabulous giveaways.
For many years my husband and I have lived across the country from my family. Since my parents worked in the restaurant business, it was difficult for them to leave town during the holidays, so we routinely went to East Tennessee to visit. Of course, this meant that we had to choose which set of parents to be with on Christmas day. However, one magical year the stars aligned perfectly, and both sides of the family converged on our home in Las Vegas, Nevada, for Christmas week. It was heaven to be surrounded by so much laughter and love, to have the big family holiday celebration I had always dreamed of. Today, a combination of age, illness, and jobs makes it difficult for either set of our parents to travel, so we again divide our time between them. But in my heart, I will always have that glistening Christmas of a decade ago.
We need those precious memories so that we know what is important in our lives.
my most memorable christmas was my son`s first! We spoiled him rotten and he was only 3months old!!!! But it was such a fun day!

My most memorable holiday would be Christmas of 1990. My mother had just ended a bad marriage and we had our own Christmas in our own place, followed by joining my then boyfriend, now husband of 19 yrs, for a celebration with his extended family. Quite the shock from a holiday of two to that of thirty plus relatives. They’re my family now too.
Last year! It’s always last year…and then this one will become the best one! My son comes from wherever he is living (this year he is coming from Denmark ) and our daughter tries to come over each evening after work. We laugh..we are lazy…we go some places…we are making memories! It makes my heart and soul very happy!!!
My most memorable Christmas was my first Christmas home from college. Just realizing how many people I have in my life that love and support me was a huge blessing. I am so thankful for my family!
My most memorable holiday was 5 years ago, when my newborn son was medivacked 2 states away (Alaska to Oregon) and put on life support. I was unable to be by his side for 2 days because of full airline flights, and got there Christmas evening, after spending the morning with his 2 older brothers. Even though he was not expected to live, being there with him was the most magical moment ever. The hospital and Ronald McDonald House welcomed us and showered us with love and gifts. Every day it seemed, there was a new little surprise gift at our door. It took one month, but he miraculously pulled through, and is a happy and healthy nearly 5-year old. We were truly blessed that year. Other holidays come and go and blur together with the passing years, but the details of that year are etched in my memory forever.
My most memorable Christmas would be 1982. That year my whole family had a homemade Christmas. All gifts has to be handmade & all the ornaments on the tree had to be homemade, too. What even made it more special was my Grandmother was such a big part of it. She passed away a few years later, but to watch her hang her ornaments on the tree was so much fun. And she so enjoyed it.
Christmas has always been a wonderful time for me because our family always gets together at some point during the holidays. I think my favorite one was when I was about 12 and my brother was 19 and my wonderful grandparents were still alive. My grandma opened a beautiful nightgown and the tag said it was from Rick (my brother) & Rascal (our 5 lb Yorkie). My brother proceeded to whisper to me, “Rascal must have gone shopping!” It was hilarious but thankfully, my grandma had no idea that Rick hadn’t actually picked out the gift for her.
For sure, it was the year I got my Barbie. It’s all I asked for. My parents didn’t have a lot of money and I knew exactly what that box looked like. I couldn’t find anything even close under the tree…. my disappointment was palpable as I came to the last box. I knew it was much too large for the longed for doll. I was amazed when I opened a huge set called Mix and Match Barbie with a complete wardrobe… I’ll never forget the joy I felt.
Every Christmas has been special. As a child, the excitement of seeing what Santa brought. Now as an adult, seeing the expressions on the faces of my family as they open the presents I have given them. This is truly a magical season!
My most memorable Christmas was the year before any of us left home and my dad was driving long-haul trucks back east (we lived in Utah). They had a terrific snowstorm and he was stuck in Oklahoma. He called Christmas eve morning to tell us to celebrate without him. Christmas stopped and we decided to wait until he got home. It just didn’t feel like Christmas anymore. At 9:00 that night he called again. He had gotten the only flight out and was in Denver! He would be in SLC at 10:30. Could we be at the airport 70 miles away to pick him up then? COULD WE?!! We arrived just as he did. It didn’t matter that year what was under the tree. That year we learned that what mattered was WHO was around the tree.
It is positively heartwarming reading all these responses! :) My most memorable Christmas is right after we moved to a new state in 1996. We had almost no money for gifts for our six children, ranging in age from 16 to 2. So we bought them each a stuffed squirrel and then we bought two board games – one for the oldest children and one for the youngest children. The day before Christmas, I drove the children to several grocery stores and they all bought gifts for each other from bubble gum machines with quarters. Christmas day was very merry that year as we played the board games and just enjoyed being together.
Every year with my beautiful twins that are now 9 years old. It’s so much fun following old traditions and creating new ones. Last year we started Elf on the Shelf ~ way too much fun. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!
P.S. Becky Higgins is my hero. She gives me so much inspiration!
Our most memorable Christmas was 2009. It had been an incredibly difficult year- after a tough pregnancy our gorgeous little man was born in August and required open heart surgery at just 4 days old. He spent the next month in hospital and we finally got to bring him home at the end of September. The next few months were a blur of caring for him and his older brother, made all the more difficult as our baby had to be fed via a nasogastric tube. Over a short period of time he unfortunately became dependent on the tube feeds and stopped breastfeeding altogether. I spent three long months doing everything I could to try and re-establish oral feeding and finally, on Christmas Eve 2009, we were able to remove his tube for good. It was the best Christmas present I have ever received and will be forever etched in my memory.
when i was younger, we lived in northern california and would travel to east texas almost every year. my mom and grandmother would take me shopping on the town square (tyler, texas). when we got to the big department store, mayer and schmidt, they would find the gift wrap department and leave me there to watch. i think my love affair with gift wrap and paper began there. that is one of my most treasured holiday memories. my grandmother is long gone and i still treasure every moment i can spend with my mom during the holidays( which is difficult because i live in ohio and she is in texas).
I vividly remember the Christmas I wanted a plastic barbie doll house so bad that was the only thing I asked for. When I got up Christmas morning, I did not have a plastic, pre-made barbie doll house, I had an awesome, homemade one that my mom built! She even made the furniture and decorated it.
My most memorable holiday is my childhood Christmases. When my brother, sister I were young, my parents always took us to my dad’s parents’ house. All my dad’s brothers and sisters would gather there with their families and celebrate together with my grandparents. We had the best of times running around together and especially opening presents together. The food was out of this world! My granddaddy owned a country store that was located just across the highway from his house and he would take the children over and unlock the door just for us to go inside and each would receive a Kennedy half dollar and a brown back full of penny candy. There were 16 grandchildren following behind “pawpaw” to the store, all so very excited to have time with him without adults! You’ve got to realize this was in the 1960s and this was such an exciting excursion for youngsters ranging from 4-16! My grandparents are now gone along with my dad and an uncle, but those times were precious and will be long remembered, not just by me, but by my cousins and sister and brother.
Mine would be 3 years ago. Hubby had a serious heart condition, long story short, a virus attacked his heart and he had congestive heart failure and was told he needed a transplant at $300,000! He lived with the condition for 3 years. Anyway, a week before Christmas he had an EKG. We had to wait until after the holiday to get the results from the doctor, the technician said she isn’t allowed to say anything, but that she would anyway, his heart had shrunk and looked normal! The best present ever!
My most memorable holiday was my first Christmas as a mother. Christmas has always been a magical holiday for me. But that year it became even more so. Seeing the excitement in my daughter’s eyes and every family member’s reaction to her excitement is a memory I will never forget!
My most memorable Holiday was Christmas after I had just gotten back to the states from living in Germany for a couple of years. My children were 1, 4 and 5 and hadn’t see their Grandparents for that time we were in Germany. My dad got a tree and mom decorated it and it was just the best Christmas watching the kids open their gifts and seeing my parents smile and laugh together at them. My kids are grown now with children of their own and my mother has passed away but that is a memory I will have in my heart forever.
My most memorable holiday was July 4th, 1976. We had been married one whole day, and spent our honeymoon in Niagra Falls, Canada. My husband and I have been married for 35 years. I love anything to do with 4th of July, including Fireworks and parades. This past summer, our very first grandchild, Logan, was born on July 2, giving me another reason to love that holiday!
My most memorable Holiday: One year, when our girls were just babies, we traveled to New Mexico…along with several other family members. We were going to celebrate Christmas with relatives that lived there. We had never been so far away from home before. It was pure magic!!! The mountains were covered in snow. Since we lived in Houston, Texas at the time, this was just so incredibly awesome to us…..mountains and snow!!!! It made for such a special time for all of us….even if there were quite a few bumps and bruises trying to get the hang of innertubing down the mountains…LOL
My most memorable holiday was definitely Christmas 1996. It was the last Christmas spent with my beautiful, courageous & wonderful sister, Julie. She died a few days later, at age 36, from brain cancer. She was a trauma nurse, always helping people. Before she died, due to pressure from the brain tumor, she became totally blind & unable to walk. Instead of her usual role of being the nurse & helper, she was totally dependent. She endured it all with grace, a smile & never a single complaint. I remember her telling me that Christmas day that she could see & hear angels. She is now my Christmas angel.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas, 1998, when my husband proposed. We had been dating for five years, and I’d almost given up hope that he’d ever take the plunge!
My most memorable Holiday was my husband and I ‘s first Christmas. I was hospitalized, very pregnant with twins and given a 24 hour window of time to travel home for Christmas morning with my wonderful husband, mother and brother.
I wanted a little brother or sister so badly as a child. One year, my wish came true. A baby brother! He was born right before Christmas, and even came home from the hospital in a Chrsitmas stocking (something they did for all December babies born there). He was the best Christmas gift ever, and even after all these years, we are still very close. :)
Oh I know this is hard but I would say the year I had my first child and she was 9 months old as in wonder of everything and so fun to watch.
Wonderful ladies to share and generous offerings thanks for a chance to win
My parents (who NEVER do anything for themselves) were getting ready to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. All my siblings got together the year before to start saving for a trip for them. We totally surprised them on Christmas with a trip to Hawaii! My dad had been stationed there before they were married but had never been back. They were so shocked!! My dad’s health is not very good now (almost 10 yrs. later) so we are so glad they were able to take the trip for their 40th instead of waiting for their 50th!!
I don’t have a “most memorable” holiday – all Christmas holidays with my family are precious and memorable to me. But, I do wish I could re-capture the last Christmas I had with my Sister as well as my Dad. Not realizing they would be my last with them, would I pay better attention to my time spent with them and better appreciate the time with them …I would like to think so. Have a Peaceful Holiday Season…Kim
Among many favorite holiday memories is a Thanksgiving in England while studying in Oxford during my senior year in college. Imagine, November without cans of pumpkin on the shelves (not sold out, just not stocked at all!) So this novice cook found a squash and a recipe to cook it down for pie. The next problem was finding a stainer to push the baked squash through to get rid of the pulp. Emptied out the silverware tray and smushed that squash through the tiny holes in the bottom of the tray. The resulting amount of squash made the tiniest of pies, but oh did it taste good to this then young woman, homesick for America.
Wow, that’s hard–I think a lot of my younger years Christmases are smushed together in my mind, kind of combined. Honestly,it’s kind of the same with the Christmases when my kids were young!
One of my favorite memories is from when I was very young, coming down the stairs at Grandma and Grandpa’s, and finding a Fisher Price dollhouse under the tree from Santa.
I’m 45, and still have that house, and all the pieces.
Here’s another favorite–we decorate cookies together every year, and last year, the 18 year old just wouldn’t stop eating them as soon as he decorated. His sister finally told him to stop it, and he started spewing cookie crumbs and sprinkles all over, while saying over and over, “GOOD COOKIE! GOOD COOKIE!”
Good times . . .
Anyway, these are all delightful gifties, very fine!
My most memorable Christmas was in 2009…3 months after my twins were born. After 7 years of infertility we were blessed with not ONE but TWO babies!! :)
My favorite memory is making cookies with my mom & sisters. We used sugar cookie dough & metal cookie cutters. This is when I learned how to use a rolling pin, how helpful flour is when rolling & if I do not have a rolling pin a glass will work. Good memories.
My most memorable holiday was this past Thanksgiving.
On Thanksgiving eve, our dog started barking like a lunatic at 3am. We have a mini-pin named “Earl”. Earl sleeps in the kitchen in his huge kennel. He is not a “yappy” dog yet he continued barking and wouldn’t stop. My husband grumbled, and got up to check things out. He smelled smoke while walking down the stairs. As soon as he hit the kitchen, he knew the basement was on fire. He hollered up to the rest of us (we have 8 children with 4 still living at home) to get out. Our water heater sparked and lit some boxes on fire that were next to it. My husband ran into the basement, put out the fire with very little help from the rest of us and as soon as the smoke cleared, we all stayed in the living room to watch a movie and snuggle with our 4 legged hero who saved our lives. Our house now has a smokey scent to it and we still have no hot water due to the fact that we’re farmers and the crops must be harvested first. But I don’t care, we’re alive thanks to our dog that insisted we wake up.
My most memorable Christmas was when my younger sister and I both received a new Cabbage Patch doll. This was back in the 80′s when they were just coming out. I was soooooo excited and happy to finally have one of these dolls that all my friends already had! I have later found out that my mom stood in line for a couple of hours waiting to purchase these Cabbage Patch dolls!!! What a sacrifice that made me so happy!!! Thanks Mom!!
My best memory of Christmas would have been lasts years. My son was 3 and twin daughters 1 and it felt like a true christmas especially since my son was just grasping the concept. We had a huge traditional lunch with our family and friends.
I am looking forward to this year even more so, as my son is now 4 and twins 2… Only got to get more and more magical as time goes on.
My most memorable Christmas is when I was about 8 years old. I remember the anticipation and the excitement of Christmas Eve! I woke up around 1 or 2 and slipped quietly down the top bunk. When I went into the living room, Santa had turned the tree lights on and the fish tank that had a red bulb. All those wonderful presents were just perfectly highlighted for a very young girl who truly marveled at the abundance of Christmas!
When I was a kid we were snowed in and Santa came the night before and left our presents on the front porch. I got a bowling ball.
My most favorite holiday was Easter at grandpa’s. Walking through the woods looking for Easter eggs and finding a tootsie roll tree along the pathway. Magical! :)
My most memorable Christmas was last year because we got to celebrate it with our first grandchild….little Remi! Seeing the holiday fun through the eyes of a young child was such a reminder of the joy to be found in simple things. The sight of the tree, the lights and ornaments, and the gathering of family were all enough to cause Remi squeals of delight.
Waking up on Christmas morning with brand new pajamas on, that we received on Christmas Eve. We would run out to see what Santa left us and the tree would be so beautiful,. We helped to decorate the tree, but my Mom would put all Santas gifts around it so pretty.
when I was 13 years old our Mom did all the decorating our tree was beautiful she used things from around the house because we didnt have extra money for decorations. Mom opened the bible and put it in the center of the table used ribbons and pine cones in boels around the living room the tree had no lights because we had none so she found some kind of flood light in the garage and put it under the tree and it shone up thru the tree! nspectacular! She died when I was 16 that was the last year she was able to decorate.
My most memorable Christmas was in 1973–it was the last one spent with my father. He died November, 1974.
My favorite memory is when I was about 5 years old. My whole family was out together and we came home to find a train set all set up and running under the tree. Pure magic for me. I still don’t know how my dad pulled it off.
My most memorable Holiday was November of 2007. This was the last Thanksgiving year that my husband and I would have our family over for the feast. Every year we have at least 30 to 40 members of our immediately family come over and spend it with us in Hawaii. It was a start to set the mood for the Christmas Holiday because I would have a tree full of 300 fun Hallmark ornaments up. We moved to Arizona in 2008 and we both miss the family every year since. Our house is quiet during our Thanksgiving but we are blessed and still thankful that we do have family away from home and we do have each other.
Christmas is always a memorable Holiday for me. Celebrating the birth of Christ and spending time with family. Each one has been special. From the last one we shared with my sister in law, who passed away, to last year with new grandchildren and a new daugther in law.Having fun playing games, laughing and sharing, a time to be thankful for so many of my blessings!
the Thanksgiving my parents met my 2 1/2 month old daughter for the first time!!
My favorite Christmas memory is the year I was able to attend Midnight Mass with the rest of my family…I think I was 12. Ever since that year I think the magic of the season is best celebrated at night. All the lights sparkle so much brighter and celebrating the real reason for the season at the stroke of midnight in “His House” is what it’s all about for me.
What was your most memorable Holiday and why?
My most memorable holiday was when I was first dating my husband. I was trying to get home for the holidays from college. My tires were bad and I didn’t have the money to get home to NY from PA. So my husband (boyfriend at the time) bought me four tires so that we could travel home together to meet my family. It’s just a great example of how wonderful he is, 10 years and two kids later he is a great stay at home dad!

There are so many memories. I guess the one that comes to mind is the first Christmas that our adopted son (then a foster child) spent with us. He had his first gran mal seizure on Christmas eve. in an ice storm. The paramedics came in the house with their Santa hats on. We followed the squad with an almost empty tank of gas. I always make sure I have enough in the tank now to get somewhere in an emergency. He recovered and Christmas was low key but unlike any other ones he had ever had. It was fun to see how exceited he was. His baby sister and her almost new adoptive parents came to spend the day with us. They were spending their last day with her as they decided not to adopt her. That was sad for her. So it was a day of emotions for sure.
Thanks for the chance to win all these goodies. Merry Christmas to all of you.
I had so many great holidays when I was growing up thanks to my parents making them all wonderful! Since I’ve been married, they’ve all been great too with the addition of my two children to my family. I guess I’d have to say that the best thing about Christmas is just celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus who was born on Christmas day, grew up and died for our sins! What could be better than that?
I think my most memorable holiday was my last Christmas Eve with my Grandmother. She had just been diagnosed with cancer, so we all knew it would be her last with us. Christmas Eve was our family holiday, and everyone was especially grateful for that day with her. She truly was an angel. It was the last time she was healthy and the last time the whole family was together before she passed. I hope to always remember her like that, watching the younger grandchildren open their presents, laughing and telling stories. We grandchildren are now having babies of our own, so I know new memories are in store, but I often think of that day with her and hope my future children will be as lucky as I was!
The first Christmas after my son was born. It was so perfect to have our little family all together. And, my husband was so thrilled to be a father, he bought me a beautiful ring as a “thank you” to me.
My parents were always wonderful about having people over on the holidays that had no other family. We loved spoiling them and they felt like they had family. Two elderly sisters Auntie Kate and Ella Mae in particular were always over for the holidays. We adopted them as our grandmas.
Holding my first grandchild. He was only 3 mos. old. His mother had 3 miscarriages before he was born so his birth was very special.
I am anticipating that this year will be my most memorable Christmas. We are spending the holiday in Arizona with our son and daughter-in-law. We have never spent Christmas with them in the 14 years that they have been married. We live 24 hours away by car and during the winter it is nearly impossible to visit. We have a 16 month old great-grandson, who also lives in Arizona with his mom and dad, so I know this will be a most special holiday season.
There have been so many that have been wonderful, but seeing thru a child’s eyes I remember so vividly the scene on the Christmas I wanted a bicycle so badly I could hardly contain my hope and excitement. I kept waking and sneaking out and nothing nothing nothing until early on Christmas morning. While still dark I saw the silhouette of the handlebars and frame against the window backlit by a streetlight and near the Christmas tree. I will never forget that Christmas.
Wow, it’s hard to pick just one! But, I think the one memory that stands out the most is the year I walked into the living room and announced to my parents that if they could help Santa I wanted to help, too! LOL, looking back, I can imagine their shock as I walked into the room and caught them putting out Santa gifts! They let me stay up and help them and that started a tradition that lasted for years, I got to help with the younger siblings Christmas, then had to go to bed so they could put mine out. What special times those were!
The most memorable holiday was Christmas 1979. My son was 4 years old and no matter how many times we asked him what he wanted for Christmas or changed the way we asked the answer was always the same. He wanted a Yoda from Star Wars and nothing was going to change his mind. Not only did he want a Yoda, he wanted the minature Yoda and he was adament he did not want anything else just Yoda. Santa did leave other toys, but his eyes were only for Yoda.
The first that comes to mind is the one I spent with my American in-laws. My whole childhood I coveted a “normal” Christmas only to find that mine were actually pretty special!
My most memorable holiday was the one when my mom had too much eggnog and stumbled and knocked the tree over!
When I was 10 years old I got sick on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day I was so sick that my dad carried me out to the family room. I didn’t unwrap any gifts and slept when I wasn’t throwing up. My mom unwrapped a stuffed puppy dog and slipped it under my arm while I was sleeping. I slept with that stuffed puppy for several more sick days. I don’t remember any other gifts that year but will never forget Christmas. And I still have that little toy puppy dog.
My most memorable Christmas was the year my daughter was borned, 12/23/74. On Christmas morning the nurse brought her to me in a red stocking. She was so tiny and beautiful. BEST Christmas present ever!!
All of the prizes look absolutely Amazing! Love to have them!
My daughter’s first Christmas because when she was born I finally understood what unconditional love meant and truly understood Jesus’ love for me and her.
My best holiday was in 2009. I had finished my last chemo treatment in August, radiation treatment was done in November and I had all of December to relax and enjoy the special time with my family and friends.
Lots of people get wrapped up in the “craziness” of Christmas and don’t take the time to appreciate what they have. I now have a new appreciation for every holiday I’m around for and grateful I can spend it with my husband and kids!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
Trudi
My most memorable Holiday was when my Grandmother came to visit my family for a week during Christmas shortly after we moved to Oregon from California in 1993.
75 years ago she started a family tradition of making the “family” Christmas stockings out of red felt, assorted hand cut felt appliques adorned with sequins and our names, all hand stitched of course. They coordinating so well with all of our other Swedish holiday decorations. My grandmother came to the US from Sweden when she was a teenager. Once my Grandma Jennie’s eyesight started to fail her, she passed on the tradition to me. I believe I was 20 years old. I’m 50 now. There are around 40 of these stockings in our immediate family, and still growing. And of course everyone is “required” to bring their stockings with them if they are visiting for Christmas, so that the photo opt is perfect.
Long story, short,….my Grandparents’ stockings were destroyed when the Napa River flooded. Their home was destroyed not once, but twice when a couple years later the river flooded a second time. I helped “clean” items with my parents and Grandparents that were salvageable for a good week, but so much had to be thrown away. I’ll never forget the day my Grandparents both broke down and cried looking at years of memories gone in just a matter of hours. It broke my heart. You take so much for granted at age 20. I don’t think back then I ever appreciated the little things as much as today. Once my life slowed down a little (3 kids and our own business) I made my Grandma Jennie a new stocking. When my parents & Grandma (Grandpa had passed away a few years earlier) arrived at out home for the Christmas holiday and my Grandma stepped into our living room where all the stockings, including her new one, were hung on the fireplace mantel,…she put her hands up to her mouth and let out a very loud scream. She was all of about 4’6″ and a very polite lady and probably thought that if she covered her mouth the scream wouldn’t be as loud.
She was always so proud of me, but nothing would ever replace the look on her face when she saw those stockings. I also made several Swedish breads & foods during the week just to make her holiday a joyous one. Little did I know that was the last Christmas we would spend together. Cancer took her fast, but my memories of her in my life will stay forever. I miss her everyday.
When I was very small I wanted a doll in a stroller. We were spending Christmas at my Grandparents house, there was a knock on the door (they didn’t have a fireplace) the door opened and in walked Santa with the very doll and stroller I wanted. I was too afraid to go to him so he pushed it across the floor to me.
my most memorable christmas was 1972- we spent Christmas Eve and night with my Mawma and Pawpa Payne. My dad was always telling jokes and riddles or having contest with me and my 2 older sisters- (example what’s the capitol of NY) and on Christmas Eve he asked all 3 of us and some cousins if we wanted to know what one of our christmas gifts were? of course we said yes- excitiedly- he said if you know the answer to this question then you will know- “It’s round as a biscuit, busy as a bee and it’s the prettiest little thing you every did see”- of course as 8, 10, & 11 yr olds we didnt know the answer- do you know- -it’s a watch- we each got a watch- mine was a Woody Woodpecker one and I still have it- 40 yrs later- I will never forget that- he made christmas fun for 3 little girls and although I have many other christmas memories- that is one of the ones I cherish the most.
Looking through the eyes of a child at Christmas is a wonderful thing , but then so is seeing it as a parent and also as a grandparent. So for me to pick just one is almost impossible. I do so miss the special time spent with my Mom , baking , wrapping, decorating and going to midnight church service. Spending time with your family is the most special thing that there is.
forty years ago was to be the last christmas all of my family would gather around the christmas tree.sensing this my mother made the perfect decision to cut down the pine tree in the front yard of her house where we all grew up.. this tree had been around for at least 50 yrs..Through the yrs it held swings, boyfriend initials, snow, and our love and respect of it. i can remember seeing it decorated and standing so stately in mamas living room srorrounded my christmas music and the delicious aromas of nutmeg and cinnamon comming from the kitchen and mamas fruitcakes..today everybody is gone except me and my children but the memory of that old pine tree and how it united the family in all the blessings of what christmas should be will lovingly reside on my heart forever.
My most memorable holiday was the first year my nephew decided to buy gifts for the family. He was an excited 3 year old that wanted to give gifts. I took him to the dollar store to buy a gift for his mom and dad but he insisted instead to only buy toys for my kitty cat little bit. That was her most memorable holiday also.
Christmas is my favorite holiday but after my divorce in 1989 my kids were going to go out of state for Thanksgiving and my friend and I went to the Navy Base in Orlando to “adopt” sailors to feed them Thanksgiving Dinner. After we picked up the two men from the Base I also delivered food for “”Meals On Wheels” for the Senior Citizens that lived by themselves. The look on the elderly people’s face when we delivered the food with the boys in their uniforms was priceless.
Suzann ~xoxo~
My most special holiday(s) were: 1) the Christmas I graduated from college…and I’d met my boss’s wife who raised peach faced love birds…and I wanted one SO badly. When I found out my present was Zlatko (Sweetheart)…I was over the moon…and my most recent was ’08…when I got Holly…my beagle…she’s the BEST!
my most memorable holiday was driving to Florida with my kids to spend Thanksgiving with my sister. it was the first major holiday that I was a single parent and we took my kids to Disney World on that trip. it was certainly worth every penny I had to see the kids’ faces light up and to spend time with my only sister before she had children of her own.
My most memorable Holiday would have to be the year when I was five. It would be the last holiday spent with my father. He had passed away a couple months later.
My most memorable Christmas would have to be the one when I got my doll. The only way I could describe her was that she was a real live baby. I have kept her for all these years & her original dress hangs in my sewing room.
My earliest Holiday memory has to be the year I “saved” Santa and gave my family a ton of laughs in the process. I was about 5. We were in Northern Michigan visiting my grandparents that Christmas. It was tradition to go to midnight mass on Christmas eve. That was the first time I got to go too. I remember it being so beautiful, I was in awe. On the way back to my grandparents house,my aunt had mentioned that Santa may have come while we were away, after all it was now Christmas morning. So my older brother and I ran in to the living room to check. There in the fireplace was Santa, or his back half anyway. He was stuck in the fireplace. We both pulled on his legs to try to free him. I remember pulling as hard as I could so afraid he would be stuck there forever, only to end up with his boots and pants…Poor Santa he was now half naked and who knew how many more houses he was suppose to get to yet tonight? He didn’t have time to go back to the north pole! What about the other children in the world?! I was so upset! Everyone was laughing so hard, they could hardly explain that it was just a joke, that they had planned. The “real Santa” was safe and sound. Not funny then, but so funny now!..I would have to say though that watching my own children enjoying the magic of Christmas are my most favorite holiday memories. Seeing the holiday with their wonder and excitement makes it such an amazing gift each and every year!
My first Christmas with our baby girl, best present ever!
Probably my most memorable Christmas my first year as a mommy. My baby boy was born 9 days before Christmas.. a special Christmas gift. Now he’s almost 15 and 6 feet tall. Crazy!!
I can’t say that I have one that was most memorable. So many come to mind when I think of this question. One of my most favorite memories was when my son was about 6…I had a village under out tree and we happened to find a church that looked like our church. My son was laying there just looking at it….we were all taking when he said “shhhh, they’re praying in there.” He’s 21 now and I will never forget that.
My best memory on a Christmas was about 25 years ago while working as a Paramedic we ran a call where we found a family living in a run down house with no electricity or hot running water. Ther was no Christmas tree or presents, and the kids were sleeping on the floor. When we got back to the hospital we told the doctors and nursing staff what we had witinessed. The whole EC got involved and we went back to the home and by the time Christmas morning arrived the parents and kids had everything they needed and the heat and hot water were restored. I will never forget their faces and how blessed I am.
My most memorable Christmas was 4 years ago. We had just moved to Colorado in November. It was my first move away from my family and we just couldn’t make it back home for Christmas. Christmas eve our son showed up at our door bringing himself and my mom! What a great Christmas present!~
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 1997, my birthday is also on Christmas Day and this one was my 17th. We always spent Christmas Eve at my grandparents and this Christmas my grandpa (Pop) was very ill with cancer. He was in pain and spent most of the evening in his chair watching all the festivities…when it came time to to sing Happy Birthday to me I was standing with my cake in front of me and suddenly felt his strong hand on my shoulder. Despite whatever pain he was in he made is way to the dining room, alone, to stand with me, his first grandchild’s, birthday for the last time. I didn’t know it that night, but that would be the last Christmas and birthday I would be able to spend with Pop. I hope Pop knew how much that meant to me and how I remember that moment every single year when I blow out my birthday candles. I know he still there in spirit by my side.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2008. My son had just turned 2. It was the first year I had ever stayed home and not traveled on Christmas day. It was magical and amazing to just enjoy the day in our PJs, play with new toys, cook a Christmas dinner and be together. No stress of driving and packing. We have continued the tradition of not traveling at least while our son is young. I miss being with family but staying home has its benefits.
Last year was probably one of my favorite Christmases…my kids are old enough now that they might be as excited as I am Christmas morning! I love experiencing it through their eyes!
Hi-
My most memorable holiday was New Years Eve. My son was born premature and we didn’t want him to bring in the New Year alone. So my husband and I stayed up holding our son at the hospital and brought in the New Year together. One of the nurses took our picture. Our first family picture. It is one I will never forget.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Terri Stiefel
My most memorable Christmas(s) growing up were with my grandparents who lived on a farm and showed us so many amazing adventures there…then now they are all ever so precious having children of my own and teaching and showing them what Christmas is all about and cherishing every drop of life they bring to our family! They are the greatest gift I’ve recieved…other that THE greatest gift of all Jesus Christ!
1969. 6th grade, We went to California and spent Christmas at Disneyland. I expected to see Donny Osmond.
My most memorable memory was in 2009 Christmas day. This was the last year my daughter and i got to spend with my husband and her Dad. He passed away in July of 2010.
This is the year that we had our family all together on one day. IT was great to watch her show her dad every little thing she got and to see the pure joy in his face. This is a Christmas i will never forget and one I will always tell my daughter as she was only 1.5 years old.
In 1987 my husband and I were building our new home and living with 2 small children at his parents home. Even though we thought we would be in our house by Christmas, it turned out to be a holiday season full of fun memories that we are still talking about!
Thanks for the chance to win
December 24th, 2009 I gave birth to my first baby. My son, Duke, was born on Christmas Eve and my sister brought in a little tree with lights and ornaments on it that sat on my bedside table. My husband and I celebrated Christmas 2009 in the hospital with the best gift we were ever given.
My most memorable holiday was the year that my brother and I went out to see my dad at his home – it was the first Christmas after my parents separated. First of all, I got to ride in my brother’s ’69 Camaro. He is 6 years older than I am and spending time together did not happen often, so I seldom (never) got to ride in his car. Then we get to my dad’s and he took his present and said, “This weighs a ton!” Hilarious, because it was a scale! Then my brother went out to help my dad get snow off the roof of the patio. The roof collapsed onto my brother, barricading me in the house. I struggled with getting the back door open as it was frozen shut, all the while I am panicking because my brother is under the roof and my dad is shoveling furiously. After I finally got outside and we got him out from under the roof (he was amazingly unscathed) we went inside (via the back door), had cocoa and laughed and laughed. Even though it could have been a horrible Christmas for many reasons, laughing with my dad and brother made it the most memorable for me.
The year my surprised me by flying my parents out for the holidays. Best Christmas ever!
wow, what a fantastic giveaway!
I LOVE holidays when my family is ALL together. One that sticks out in my mind is one of my nieces said it would be so neat if there would be a new baby in the family for Christmas…my sister-in-law said “there will be” woohoo. Baby announcement at Easter!
My most memorable holiday was my nephew’s first Christmas 23 years ago. It was also the first Christmas Eve that I hosted at my own home. Sadly, it was also my father’s last Christmas. I was greatful that he got to meet his grandson.
I loved the magic of Christmas’ growing up but my favorite would have to be this Xmas season just starting beecause my 3 year old is so excited about everything!
I can vividly remember getting my first record player for Christmas in the late 60′s from my parents. It was fantastic, and I got so much use out of it playing records by the Herman’s Hermits, Young Rascals, Simon and Garfunkle. I used that machine for years, I took it to college with me. Thanks for bringing back those memories….
It is very hard to choose the most memorable, as they all have special memories for different reasons. If I had to choose though, it would be my daughter’s first Christmas. I just loved watching her eyes light up at the tree (of course we had to move all the breakable ornaments out of her reach as she liked to crawl up and touch the tree and lights) and watching her open presents for the first time. And this year I am looking forward to watching my youngest experience Christmas. She was only 3 months old last year so it will be even more fun this year. :0)
That would definately be my first Christmas in Denmark. I was welcomed into a friend’s family to share in their traditions; everything from cutting down the tree in the nearby forest (which we later decorated with lit candles and danced around while singing carols) to playing the “dishes game” after dinner. The dishes game is great for dinner parties with good friends, by the way. You start 2 dice going around the table in opposite directions. The first person to roll a 1 or a 6 goes out to the kitchen and start washing dishes. The next person to roll a 1 or a 6 takes over the washing and the first person starts drying the clean dishes. The next person to roll a 1 or a 6 starts washing, the washer starts drying and the dryer starts putting away. When the 4th person comes into the kitchen, the one putting dishes away returns to the table.
I think my most memorable Christmas was the first Christmas after I married my husband. I came home from work one evening to find that he had purchased a pair of stockings and then customized them with our names to decorate our little apartment. This will be our 27th Christmas using those stockings and I don’t think we will ever use anything else. I love unpacking them each year…they are filled with many warm and precious memories! Thanks for offering the great prize!!
Thank you for the chance to win!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 2010. I had had a stroke in July but was home from rehab and doing well. I was able to by each of my 4 children a spectal gift for all that they had done for me. It was so exciting to me to see their faces as they opened their gifts (ages 33-29-27-23). This year won’t be so good as finances aren’t good. But I will remember the tears in my daughters eyesas she opened her gift.
The Chritmas my family took a horse drawn sleigh ride in the snow is one of my most memorable! Picture perfect!
I don’t have one that stands out, but rather a collection of my childhood Christmas celebration. They were almost routine, they were so consistent, but I think that’s why I enjoyed them so much and remember them so clearly. Christmas Eve – celebrate with my Mom’s family at our house. Go to bed and lie awake, waiting for Santa. Wake up – Santa!! Play, get ready, then go next door to my Grandma’s house to celebrate with my Dad’s family. Lots of happy memories!!
What fabulous giveaways yet again! Thanks WWC!!! I sooo hope I win!!!
Ok, fav Christmas memory was when we were at my grandmothers when i was a young teen. She Had a fabulous house full of fun nooks and crannies of girly stuff and antiques that just took us girls to dream worlds and let our imaginations sore. My parents were divorced in the 60s and times were tough and going to my grandmothers was a place I could be a girl! At that time tho, she had closed up much of her house as she was old and couldn’t get around much. This particular Christmas my mom got a wild hair and took us all downstairs to this amazing basement and opened it up, even lighting a fire in the rustic fireplace. She had an old record stereo that still worked and we found an old record of Bing Crosby/Grace Kelly/Frank Sinatra called High Society and played it while hearing stories of their life then. It was magical!
Every Christmas holds special memories. Christmas as a child meant that Mom and I attended the Christmas Eve service and when we returned home, my presents were on the porch and up the stairs – a trail to the tree courtesy of Santa (aka Daddy). The first Christmas after I met my husband, my son’s first Christmas, my granddaughter’s first Christmas were all so very special but isn’t every Christmas special in it’s own way?
I loved it two years ago when the three families we are closest with all had dinner together. My son’s girlfriend was expecting my first grandchild and they announced it at dinner. This made for an especially joyous celebration.
My sister and I used to buy chocolate covered cherries and eat a whole box of them while laughing and wrapping presents (they used to give us gas, too, which made things even more funny!)
My Most Memorable Would be Thanksgiving of 2oo3 when we found out we were pregnant with our 4th child… Being sick wasn’t such a Happy memory though… : ( But of course SHE was ALL worth it…
When I was ten years old I was not sure about Santa. So I was determined to find the gifts before Christmas to prove who exactly bought the presents. I did enough snooping that I found a Mastermind game in the back of my Mother’s closet. I let everyone know what I had found. Needless to say Everyone including me was dissapointed in Christmas that year. I had spoiled the magic and Christmas would never be the same.
I still love Christmas, and when my children asked if Santa was real, I told them that he was, but his address is not the North Pole. He lives right here at your house. Somehow that took the sting out of the revelation!
My favorite holiday memory so far is being with my son Jonah for thanksgiving and remembering how blessed we are to have him in our lives. It is always a challenge to remember what we have when there’s so much going on in the world.
I will never forget the Christmas I got the barbie dream house I wanted so badly! Really, all my childhood Christmases were great. I don’t know how my parents did so much with so little!
The last Christmas at my Dad’s old house in Carson. That says it all.
My most memorable holiday was New Years Eve 1999. My husband and I celebrated the beginning of the new millinium in Key West, Florida. On the final day of the 20th century we saw the last Key West sunset from a sailboat. We met wonderful people, made many new friends and danced in the street. We were two young newly weds from central Michigan and this was tropical paradise. I had the man I love, a brand new millinum, and sunshine. This is my most memorable holiday! :)
though I loved Christmas growing up, I love it even more since having my two children…I love the holiday traditions and time with family.
My most memorable holiday was the year my four kids were in a live nativity play at our church. Seeing their joy and delight at being part of this beautiful story was a real blessing to me.
the one that is kinda of hard to forget was last Thanksgiving. My entire family had the stomach flu while visiting extended family who also got the stomach flu. we canceled thanksgiving. it was sad and disgusting but memorable. We can laugh about it now but it will be one that we NEVER forget. :)
I grew up with my Grandparents and every single Christmas with them was amazing. I loved the traditions they shared, the baking and cooking, and the time spent with our family. As amazing as each of these Christmases were, I think my most memorable one was my first Christmas after getting married. I moved from my home in Nebraska to be with my husband in Michgan. This was very hard on me to be away from my family and that first Christmas after getting married was my first time back to Nebraska. I had already known how special my family was, but I saw it through an even clearer lens once I had been away. Making the day even more special was getting to introduce my husband to all of the family fun and tradition I grew up with and wanted to place within my new family. (This of course included our one kooky tradition of getting out the leftover sparklers from the 4th of July so we could dance outside and sing “Happy Birthday Dear Jesus”). I’m all about traditon and am excited to be keeping up the traditions with my kids.
Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays! I’ll always remember my Dad cutting up two or three apples for Christmas and serving it to our family.Apples were a big deal at that time because we were poor and couldn’t afford to buy them any other time of the year. He also cut up oranges. Sweet and simple. Loved it!
My most memorable Holiday was after my father passed away in l953 when I was 14 yrs. old. My Mom didn’t drive, so we had no car. How were we going to get a tree?
My brother Frank, age 11, myself and Mom borrowed a wagon and set out on a cold Buffalo, NY evening to find a Christmas tree lot. After finding a place on a main thoroughfare, we purchased a small tree and asked the salesman to tie it to the wagon. It seemed like forever before we got home with our red noses and numb fingers.
The tree wasn’t very big but after braving the cold to get it, we thought it was beautiful. We made paper loop garlands and paper ornaments to add to the old ornaments we had. We hung crepe paper garlands on the ceiling and gathered them with a paper bell in the center of the ceiling.
Sometimes the holidays when we didn’t have much are more memorable than when there was plenty. Working together, braving the cold and decorating with nothing more than paper and a few old ornaments brought us closer together with a feeling of satisfaction and love for one another.
I have two – the first Christmas for each of my children. There is just nothing like it.
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas when my first child was born. So many things took on a whole new meaning. So awesome to experience the holidays through a child’s eyes.
my favourite holiday memories are on Christmas Eve, family gathered in the living room with only the christmas tree lights on and candles glowing.
It had to be Christmas 1993. Our twins were born 8 weeks early on November 17th. (Yes, they just turned 18!) Our daughter came home the week before Christmas while our son came just in time for New Year’s Eve. It was very stressful. We left our daughter at my mother’s and most of use took a quick visit to the hospital, some of my cousins meeting him for the first time. Just writing about it brings tears to me eyes.. There are no pictures of the two of them that first year, but, then again, the next 16 Christmases have been magical. Looking forward to #18.
I would love to win.
My most memorable holiday was New Years Eve 1999. My husband and I celebrated the beginning of the new millenium in Key West, Florida. On the final day of the 20th Centruy we saw the last key West sunset from a huge sailboat. Supper was stone crab and Coronas. We met amazing people, made many new friends, and danced most of the night in the street. We were two young newly weds from central Michigan and Key West was a tropical paradise during a very cold winter back home. I had the man I love, a new year-century-millenium, and sunshine! This is my most memorable holiday!
My most memorable holiday was my first one after the birth of my son. I was too tired to remember details but it was a very happy, special time.
It is hard to pick just one! The year I got my Mary Poppins doll….my best friend got one too. We had the same dress too. It was a fun year.
My most memorable Christmas was when my daughter was 18 months old. We thought that we would have breakfast before opening gifts, but as I was in the kitchen, I heard paper ripping and learned that for even the littlest of children, presents come before food on Christmas morning. I grabbed the camera and shouted to my hubby- hurry up- she started Christmas without us!
The most memorable was when I was living in Minnesota and the whole family went to Florida for Christmas…i could not believe I was swimming in an outside pool on Christmas Eve. It made such and impression on me that people could live that way. Many years later I moved to Florida and the rest is history….If you are looking for me on Christmas Eve I will be out swimming in the pool…….. in Orlando

My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas with my future husband. Christmas, after 35 years, finally felt to me like I’d always wanted it to.
Thanksgiving was my most memorable holiday…This was the day I would go back home to Mom’s house and be greeted by sisters – brother – nephews and nieces…Mom’s house was small which I felt made it all the more memorable. We were all packed in sitting on the floor and doubled up on chairs – we laughed and talked about old times till we could barely speak anymore. Many have passed but my memories live on of a more simple time in my life – this keeps me humble which is a good thing – Merry Christmas -
There’s nothing like the first Christmas with your first child. He’s 25 now, but I still remember him as a baby enthralled with the Christmas lights.
I remember the Christmas when I was 7 and my grandpa gave me a dollhouse he had built for me by hand. It was such a labor of love, and I loved it too. Yay for grandpas!
My most memorable Holiday was the year that I walked into my grandmother’s house and there was what looked like a large trunk with my name on it. Inside was the most beautiful baby doll that I had ever seen. It also had a full trunk of clothes for it to wear.
My most memorable Holiday is Christmas 5 yrs ago it was the 1st Christmas with our newborn Grandson (our 1st grandchild) who was 5 months at the time and we were thrilled to say the least.
My most favorite Christmas is easily remembered as it was my last Christmas in our home with my daddy. Our entire family sat together around the beautiful lighted Christmas tree, following a wonderful holiday meal with all of the delicious trimmings! Each person drew a letter of the alphabet out of a sack, and was asked to share a favorite Christmas memory beginning with that letter, followed by lighting a white candle. The stories spoken and shared that night by family members- my daddy’s, in particular, were etched into our hearts. That night, we heard stories never told and shared tears of joy and laughter we will never share again. Sweetness filled the room that evening as the candle light illuminated all of the joy in our faces. I will always be thankful for those moments-the true gift of words spoken in love!
My favorite one would be 2001 when my now husband proposed to me. It was right in front of the tree and he gave a beautiful ring.
My daughter’s first Christmas….she was 7 months old and we decorated our measly small tree during her nap. We couldn’t wait for her to see it and we WENT IN AND WOKE HER.
Just like a new parent should :)
Hoping this is the winning comment.
My most memorable {sighs} , well let me think back.
thinking….
There’s always a memorable moment, good & bad at each holiday.
For me, my moment dates back to Christmas 2004.
Not only did it mark the first Christmas with my boyfriend (now, husband) but it was my first Christmas without my family.
It was a bitter-sweet day.
Celebrating a holiday with my love, but away from my family for the first time in my life.
To sum up my story, it’s thee most memorable because it’s the day I said yes to a four-word sentence… “Will You Marry Me?”
–The End–
My most memorable holiday was spending Christmas in a cabin with frozen pipes. We had to boil snow for water and use the toilet like a porta potty! But I loved watching my nephews who finally understood Santa Claus come in with huge eyes, wondering how Santa found them in the mountains!
Thanks for the opportunity!
Although I have many wonderful memories of Christmas past, my favorite holiday memory would have to be last Christmas. It was my first as a bride…sending out our Christmas cards, decorating our own sparkly tree, eating our own Christmas baked goodies, waking up on Christmas morning together, and wishing for 100 more Christmas holidays with this new husband of mine.
My favorite holiday memory is traveling to see my great grandparents every year on Christmas Eve growing up, seeing all of my extended family. My Great Grandma died last year, and my Great Grandpa is 100, but it is a memory I’m building for my children as well.
thansk for the chance to win!
My most memorable Christmas has to be when I was a child. Every year my parents would purchase a real tree (cedar) to decorate (then a tree cost about $1.50). We (my brother and sister) would get so excited. Mommy would get popcorn ready to string. We would eat as much popcorn as we strung. While the kids would string the popcorn, Mommy and Daddy would put the lights on the tree and then all of us would decorate with the beautiful glass ornaments. When finished decorating the tree, Mommy would turn off the lights and I would just sit and look at the beautiful colors of the tree.
My favorite holiday memories involve spending just quality time with my family, drinking hot cocoa. I don’t think I have an absolute favorite!
1995 – that was the last holiday season I celebrated with my sister. She was the BEST holiday baker – I always feel close to her this time if year!
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas of 1983. My husband had been out of work for nearly 2 years. We had two young boys at that time, the youngest one being constantly sick since birth. We didn’t have any money for presents for them, but did the best we could to make some items and refurbish toys (that would be new to them). That Christmas Eve we received a huge box of food and gifts from an anonymous giver, as well as gifts for the boys being left on our front door step on Christmas morning. We never did find who those thoughtful, wonderful folks were, but we have never forgotten the joy and wonder on our sons faces (as well as our own).
Christmas 1999 when I got to bring my 10 day old daughter to our annual Christmas Eve with my grandparents and the entire extended family.
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas my aunt sewed me a 3 foot tall doll. Her 3 year old daughter had watched her sew it, and had assumed it was hers. When she saw me receive it as a gift, she flipped out and tried to wrestle it from me. Holiday rumble!!
What was your most memorable Holiday and why?
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 1996. My husband and I got married 12/21/96 and we spent our first Christmas as a married couple in Organ Pipe National Park eating left over “meat master” Pizza Hut pizza that was warmed in dashboard while we drove. We didn’t see another person all day long and felt like we were the only people in the entire world.
It was such a wonderfully different way to celebrate Christas!
Since then, we have spent most of our anniversaries celebrating Christmas somewhere warm.
Seven years ago we went to a Christmas eve service. The lady handing out the candles asked when my baby was due. I told her, and she declared that he would be a Christmas baby. I smiled and nodded, but thought “this baby has been low a long time. He isn’t going anywhere for awhile”. After the service I took a picture of my other children by the beautiful tree. It was a good thing I did, because it was the only Christmas photos taken that year. Our little son was born on Christmas morning and declared by his 8 siblings to be the best Christmas gift they had received!
My most memorable Christmas was the year the my father planted sleigh and reindeer tracks in the snow in front of our picture window. We woke up to the magic and wonderment of all that is Christmas.
One of my favorite Christmas memories was when I was a little girl at my Grandmas house on Christmas Eve. The whole family always gathered together for a party and I loved playing with all my cousins. That year Grandma had a door prize and I won! It was a Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Coloring Book and I was soooo excited because I loved coloring. All these years later with Grandma in Heaven and children of my own I still love Rudolph and coloring books. I cherish those Christmas memories and my Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Coloring Book that I still have.
Most memorable holiday – when my Dad showed up on Christmas Eve with a hand wrapped present – my very own phonograph! I’m a 50′s kiddo.
Love all these products! Love Becky Higgins!
My most memorable Christmas was last Christmas. I had just had my newest baby, a sweet little boy, and we were finally spending the holidays together as a family of four. As someone who went through YEARS of infertility treatment to become pregnant with my first, followed by YEARS of infertility treatment to become pregnant with my second, my husband and I faced many Christmases together wanting that “perfect” little family. To finally experience a holiday with both of my children was amazing. It was another reminder of how truly, truly blessed and fortunate I am to be the mother of two sweet boys.
Thanks for the fun giveaway!
All holidays are “the best” and I am sure the next one will be even better. My husband asked me to marry him on Halloween, 50 years ago, and all our holidays have been wonderful. I love to decorate, and have decorations from as far back as my parents childhoods.
My first Christmas with my now husband. How fun to have our first tree and share the holiday together with our families!
One of my most memorable holidays is my first Christmas as a Christian. For the first time I understood its true meaning.
I have been blessed to have many wonderful Christmas seasons. I guess the one that sticks out most would be 2004; my daughter’s first Christmas and my son’s 5th but our first as the four of us together. The funnest was last year when we were at Disneyland, good memories of that trip!
My most memorable holiday was when I was 8 years old and “Santa” brought me the electric piano I wanted. We didn’t have much, and I was so grateful for the gift.
What comes to mind right now, is when I got the Barbie Dream House for Christmas…even then, I wanted to decorate Barbie’s house all pretty! this giveaway is full of such wonderful things, thanks to the ladies who are offering their lovely items!
My most memoble holiday was the Christmas of the year my husband and I were married. We had no money to spend on gifts. I had borrowed my mother-in-law’s portable sewing machine and sat at the kitchen table making gifts for each member of my new family. When the gifts were opened on Christmas, each new family member smiled broadly with twinkling eyes and thanked me so genuinely that my heart was filled!
My most memorable holiday was definitely my first Christmas with my husband in our tiny apartment. Every dream I had as a little girl about marrying my Prince Charming had come true. 16 years later, his crown still shines brightly, and Christmas is still a wonderful celebration for us.
Memorable holiday? I was 10 ish and I awoke to all — as in every single one- of my stuffed animals and dolls propped up circled round the christmas tree. My mother set them up for a most memorable Christmas morning!
When I was ten, (a long time agoooo) I told my 7 year old brother that I didn’t think there was a real Santa Claus. I still wanted to believe there was but I was afraid that I was being fooled by the rest of the world. I went back and forth with wanting to believe and being unsure during the weeks leading up to Christmas and and of course I shared all my fears and feelings with my trusting, little brother. I can’t even imagine what I was doing to his poor mind. On Christmas eve, my mother sent us to bed assuring us that Santa wouldn’t come until he was sure we were asleep. We climbed into bed giggling and shivering with anticipation. Sleep seemed very far away. I remember being so afraid that I would be right, Santa was only a made-up thing, nothing real at all. Suddenly, as my brother and I huddled beneath the covers, something banged against our window, startling us. There was more thumping and banging and then, we heard it…”HO! HO! HO!, Merry Christmas!” This resulted in shrieks, excited cries and much kicking under the covers. “I’ll bet it’s Dad”, I said. “Get up and look out the window.” “No,” said my brother, “you look.” We heard more bumping. “Do you think it’s Dad?” my brother whispered. “I’ll bet it’s Dad. Get up and look”. I said, “No, I’m scared.” “I am too,” he said. We giggled and shivered and finally went to sleep awaking to find wonderful treasures under the tree the next morning. That was my last Christmas to believe but I will never forget the feeling of hope that Christmas, of wanting to continue in my childlike belief and the anticipation and fear of growing up and of losing that part of my childhood.
The one I think of most is when I was about 7. I found the wrapped presents before Christmas and unwrapped one. As soon as I saw what it was I felt so guilty and sad and ashamed of myself. I tried to secure it back up so my mom wouldn’t notice. I didn’t try to open another and I felt so bad seeing it under the tree. I never tried to open another gift early or try to find them after that. I really starting to enjoy the waiting and surprise of it all from that day!
My most memorable Chirstmas was my sons 2nd Christmas. He wasn’t quite old enough to understand what was going on with the first one, but boy was he excited the second time!! It was awesome to see the innocence and excitement of your own child on Christmas Day!!
My most memorable holiday has to be Christmas when I was 11 years old. At the time, my family lived in India and I lived most of the year at my boarding school in South India. The giddiness in my stomach started as soon as I got to pack my suitcases to return home for Christmas vacation. A three day, multiple train ride transported me and my older brothers to my parents who waited for us at the train station just a 1/2 mile from our house. The tree, the ornaments, the music, the mix of Indian food as well as Mom’s specialties made being home absolutely wonderful….and just being with my family, especially mom and dad, was such a gift.
My most memorable holiday is Christmas with my extended family. I am one of seven siblings and there are 28 grandchildren now. I have 8 kids of my own and it’s just great when we can all get together and share our time with each other and the cousins can come together and share some time because we don’t get together too often.
Reading everyone’s responses has been so inspiring! I am not sure what my most memorable Christmas was, but I’d have to say our first Christmas as a married couple (1998) was very special!
Well it concerns a Charlie Brown Christmas tree…or should I say a Charlie Brown tumbleweed that I painted with gold spray paint and decorated it with pretty pictures cut out of magazines. I was a very broke college student at University of New Mexico in 1973, but I will always be forever grateful for the experience that gave me. I have a beautiful tree in my living room today, but it made more radiant with my Charlie Brown Christmas tree memory. Christmas is a new creation each year because of that year.
your prizes and talents are all so lovelly. you will make someones Christmas even brighter. Merry Christmas…Odessa
I’m counting on this year to be my most memorable. My husband is taking me to Disney World for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party…something I’vwe wanted to do for years.
This year is going to be my favourite Christmas!
My aging grandparents are coming to visit (could be last year they travel) and all my siblings and their families will be here as well as my parents and my hubby and children. Can’t wait to celebrate with old family traditions and enjoy spending Christmas together!! Four generations in one house is going to be crazy hectic but I’m going to love every minute of it!
Adrienne, Calgary, Canada
my most memorable holiday is Father’s Day. My dad has been such a huge support to me and my family. He is at everything and has always been. In 2003 I found out I was pregnant on Father’s day. It was so fun to be able to share this wonderful news with him and my husband. Such a fun day and one I will always remember.
Last Christmas was very memorable for me, and will forever stick out as a golden Christmas. It was memorable because I got to spend it with my family and because we got a gorgeous frost (a white Christmas)! I love celebrating my Savior’s birth! :)
Oh so many…. Right now the one that comes to mind is going home to my husband’s church for Christmas and singing in the choir. I was so happy to be there, so happy to be singing, so happy it was Christmas, I could not stop grinning. :)
One year at Chriatmas when my sister and I were little, my mom told us Santa must of his our gifts and we needed to find them. We roamed all through the house and found them in the dryer and the back porch. Our mother fell asleep after working two jobs and forgot to put “santa’s” gifts she hid from us under the tree! We thought for years that Santa was a a jolly old prangster!
My most memorable was Christmas 2005. My sisters both live in Arizona and my parents and I live in Wisconsin. So needless to say we don’t always get to spend Christmas together. That year my parents, my boyfriend (now my husband), and I went to Az. It was so wonderful to be together! All of the love and laughter!
My most memorable Christmas was in 2004 when my husband was serving in Afghanistan. He was able to come home for a few days of leave at the end of November, and we decided to celebrate Christmas at that time. Santa was on board with us and made a special early gift delivery. We enjoyed all of our traditional Christmas activities, but most of all just basked in the glow of family togetherness. When the “real” Christmas came around a few weeks later, it was still a difficult time, but we had so much fulfillment because we’d already celebrated our “real” Christmas together.
The most memorable holiday wasn’t actually about the presents – I don’t even remember what I got, or what I gave to my family. What I remember is during Christmas Eve of 2004, my family and I stepped out of church, into a soft snowfall. We never get snow here in S. Texas, so to get a white Christmas was truly magical!
As a child I was obsessed with the Peter Pan stories. I was so happy to get my little pink tinkerbell watch from Santa at about age 8. I still have it today and just turned 50 this year.
Christmas is my favorite holiday … the most memorable was when my youngest was almost 2 years old. He was a quiet, shy toddler. While his older brother & sister warmed up to whomever came over to visit, he would stay by himself or close by my side. At our family dinner that Christmas, he suddenly warmed up to my dad & insisted that his grandpa sit by him during dinner (in my usual seat). When it came time to open up gifts, he wanted my dad to help him, not anyone else. My dad is also a quiet man; not the type to generally play with little kids, so it was a touching moment to see the special connection between grandpa & grandson.
My most memorable Christmas was when I was 10 years old and Santa brought us a dachshund puppy, Lang. And I got a cowgirl suit too!
Holiday 2005 will always be a special memory for me.
That is the year my mom gave me a memory book about her – sharing all her memories growing up, photos, recipes, notes etc – and all written in her own hand writing!!
What a treasure.
My son was born shortly before Christmas, so our first Christmas with our first tiny baby was definitely our most memorable!! (and tired!)
My mom memorable holiday was when my son was born :-)
It was Christmas of 1984 and was sister was only 2 weeks old…it was magical!
Oh how wonderful, thank you artists and thank you Jo, you touch so many lives…my most memorable Christmas was the year that I moved into this old farmhouse and gave each of my children a t.v. for their room and it was just a magical day for us, everything fell into place and was so peaceful. I am grateful to have my three children in my home and together on Christmas Eve, life is truly at it’s Zenith and my heart overflows with peace!
My most memorable was the year my oldest was born! We spent that Christmas just the 3 of us out of state but had an amazing family Christmas admiring our newborn daughter, capturing many sweet photos and finally having the family we had been praying for over the past 5 years!
My last Thanksgiving with my mother. Gloria loved Thanksgiving and always made sure that there was one empty seat at the table. But before she and her four sat down to eat we each took a plate full of Puerto Rican Thanksgivings to the homeless men and women outside our window warming their hands over a huge tin can. They loved us and we them. By the time we went back upstairs you could smell the plated food and see the smile on my beautiful mother’s heart. She was one class act. Love you Mami!
Each one is memorable, but if I had to choose one, it would be my oldest son’s first Christmas. He’s 38 now, but I still remember the joy of sharing Christmas with this precious new baby.
My most memorable holiday was when our first daughter was born. She was born on the third night of Chanukah — talk about miracles! It made the season so special.
Oh, how I love Project LIFE! Thanks for the great opportunity!
The most memorable Christmas are the ones with my children and grandchildren. Truly magical.
My most memorable Christmas will be this year. We are staying home and starting our own traditions as a family. I am so excited to instill lasting memories with my four year old son. It is also an exciting year with a baby on the way!
Christmas1982 my oldest son was born on this special day. Blessings
It was a long ago Christmas. My little sister and I had a tea party under the tree in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve. We went to the living room to see if Santa had been there yet, and he had! He left the prettiest little china tea set for my sister. We had a wonderful tea party, put everything back in its place, and returned to bed. Our parents were none the wiser!
My dad died the day after Christmas….which certainly dampened the holidays that year. The happy part though that we remember now is that my nephew was born the day of my dad’s funeral…New Years Eve….so it was kind of a gift to be able to think of that and not so much my dad’s passing.
Definately Christmas 1971 was one our most memorable. My husband was in the army and had sprained his knee in jump school at Ft. Benning. We’d flown home (to Kansas) for an early christmas with our parents, but had to return to Georgia on Dec. 22 in order to have time to move our cat and wordly goods to Fayetteville, NC so he could report for duty at Ft. Bragg on the 26th. As luck would have it, the airport in Wichita was fogged in and no flights were going out, and wouldn’t be for an indefinate period of time. Rumor had it that planes were flying out of Oklahoma City, so my father-in-law put us on a bus going south. The rumor was incorrect. OKC was fogged in as well… we ended up renting a car and drivng to Ft. Benning, leaving OKC at 10 pm. and arrivning in Georgia mid-afternoon. We loaded the car and u-haul and started north, but ran low on gas just outside Atlanta and missed the turn to into Atlanta and gas stations. A short while down the road, we got off the interstate and drove to a small town, where nothing was open the middle of the night. We slept in our car that night, in front of a gas station! By that time we were on fumes only… We were able to get gas in the morning, but were told we were lucky to be able to do so because at that time “Christmas Eve Day is a holiday and no one is working.” Finally arrived in Fayetteville shortly after noon, dropped the trailer at the hotel and went looking for an apartment (Christmas Eve afternoon) Again we were told that we were lucky anyone was helping us. “Afterall, it’s christmas eve…” After being shown several ratty places, we found a nice place late in the afternoon and signed the lease on the spot. The landlord was so nice – he even gave us a free day’s rent as a christmas present! Following a supper of pizza, we went back to the hotelroom and collapsed. And moved into our apartment on Christmas Day. Our christmas tree that year was a handdrawn picture of a christmas tree, pinned to the lampshade at the hotel, with with our presents placed under it.
Definately a once-in-a-lifetime christmas But one we’ve always remembered. *smile*
My most memorable Holiday was the first year that I was mummy, my little boy made my Holliday the best and magical one. Thanks for the chance to win.
My son’s birthday is Dec 18th…. so it was Christmas after his second birthday that I would say was my most memorable because he was very aware of what was going on and was so excited about everything ( where at 1 yr. he was more excited about the boxes than anything else). The precious joy little children have at that age is priceless!
My favorite christmas 1972, i have 2 sisters and one brother we would get up early. My mom always slept on the couch so she could see our faces when we seen what santa brought. They never wrapped our presents. My brother didn’t have much in his pile but us girls did so my mom asked what was wrong? he said nothing,my mom said why don’t you go on the back porch & bring your papers in. He was a paper boy. The next thing, all we could hear was him crying, he found his brand new mini bike!!!!! That is my favorite because my brother passed away at the age of 34!!
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas before my Gram passed away. Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers and Sisters all travelled to my grandmothers house to celebrate in the home that held so many memories for all of us.
Cuba! My husband proposed on a beach and I had no idea it was coming. Now we have two beautiful children and i can’t wait to create memorable holidays as a family of four. Thanks heaps for the opportunity to win!!
My fondest memories is my mom, dad and all five of us kids (my brothers and sisters). Going thru the woods in our backyard and looking for the perfect Christmas tree. It was so much fun, and enjoying the beauty of nature.
so many christmas memories. one that really stands out is sort of a bitter sweet memory. My parents had split up and my mother moved out right before christmas. But when we got up on christmas morning she was there. She had spent the night on the couch so she could be with us when we got up. they never got back together, but just the fact that she had been there made the holiday sweet.
My favorite holiday would have to be the. Grist as of 1998! This was the first year I was arred to my wonderful husband whom has been attling cancer since 2007! Our first Christmas was small and personal and celebrated with the fact I aw pregnant with our first daughter! God is god!
My most memorable holiday is one Thanksgiving as a kid we were too poor to afford a turkey so we had hot dogs. My parents felt bad so we played games and had so much fun. That year it wasn’t about the company or the food, it was about spending time as a family. Best Thanksgiving ever!
The year my oldest son was born. It was 4 days before Christmas and was a truly magical experience. Bring him home as my most precious gift and taking a ridiculous number of photographs of him under the tree. He’ll be 7 this year and I love to tell him the story of seeing all the lovely Christmas lights from our hospital room when all the decoration start going up….I imagine one day he’ll grow tired of hearing it. :)
Thanks for the fun and Happy Holidays!
My most Memorable holiday was Thanksgiving of 2011 when my grown children and daughter-in-law were all together with my husband and I in Colonial Williamsburg. We had not all been together in the same place for many years and it was so sweet! We are making plans for another family reunion next year!
what a great offer! Thanks
it will be hard to top the Christmas we had three years ago when my first grandson was born. his momma did her best to NOT deliver on Christmas day but . . . now we have two birthdays to celebrate on December 25!
Christmas is my favorite time of the year because we spend it with the family. Christmas Eve we are with my husband’s side of the family. Christmas morning watching the surprise and excited reaction on the kids faces. Christmas Day we are with my side of the family. Family is so important to us and our kids learn this. My best Christmas is this year when my soon to be 20 year son heard that we were putting up the Christmas tree. He drove a 30 min drive just to come over and help put up the tree and to spend time with his family. I was so touched and proud that my son knows how important family is. That is the best Christmas present that I could have asked for.

Hmm my most memorable Holiday. There are so many special memories around Holiday times, but I honestly think this one is going to have more special memories. The kids are old enough for all the excitement of Christmas, tree, lights and presents, but not so old that they have lost some of the magic of it all in the growing up process. I am looking forward to this year.
What a great giveaway! My favorite Christmas memory has to be when I was 13. I was helping my mom put presents under the tree when my little sister came walking into the room, rubbing her eyes. I had just put a little doll carriage near the tree for her. I quickly grabbed her up, got out of the room and took her back upstairs and read her a story until she fell back asleep. It did not take long. That next morning, she came down, looked under the tree and said, “I had a dream that Santa brought me a carriage!” I love telling her that story. :)
My most memorable holiday was when I was about 11 years old. I had stopped believing in Santa so my Dad let me stay up after the little ones in the family had gone to bed and watch while he put bicycles together. It seems like a silly memory, but my time with my dad was limited so I treasured every moment.
My most memoable holiay was the first Christmas I spent after getting married. We lived in the country and went out in the woods to find a tree and spent all day decorating it.
For some reason I clearly remember this one Christmas when my sister and I both got big bean bag chairs and I got an electric organ. My sister got the monster mash record and I so remember sitting in those beanbags listening to monster mash! (Did I just date myself LOL?)
I think it would be the Easter where I got up in the night and saw the bunny in my house. I swore the next day that it happened. Looking back on it, I was probably dreaming.
My most memorable holiday is a year when I was about 14 or 15. My parents were divorced and we didn’t have much. An anonymous do-gooder made sure my mom, brother and I had Christmas gifts and a meal. It was very touching.
i have two most memorable holidays…….and they are memorable for the same reason – i’ll just share one………my mom was paralyzed almost twenty years ago – she woke up one morning and was paralyzed …..it was in autumn, and she was sent to tucson arizona for rehab. that meant we would all be in tucson for Christmas if we wanted to see her – they would let her out for that one day to be with her family (her sister lived there, and all eight of the rest of us travelled down to be with her). to keep this short, one of my cousins who lives there wrote in to a radio station and requested help for her and our family to have a Christmas. the result was overwhelming and life-changing. from a Christmas tree to gifts for all seven kids to gift cards to sewing alterations for my mom’s now-changing wardrobe to more and more and more. …… i listen to that tape throughout the year – the recording from the radio of what happened live – and am reminded once again of what it is all about : the giving, the loving, the sharing of what we have to lift another and bring light and life…….
I think every Christmas since having kids has been my favorite. My kids are pretty special in that they are so family oriented that they just enjoy spending time together. Sure, there are things that they want and they get excited, but they are great about not getting a lot of stuff and know that we can’t afford much.
My favorite Christmas was my first after I married my husband. We used our vacation time for our honeymoon, so we spent our first Christmas alone in our little apartment. It was very relaxed, very peaceful. Simple but most memorable.
my favorite holiday is christmas because it is the time for family and friends to get together.
and celeberite the season and think about what god has done for you and your family.
When I was in my early 20′s we travelled to the mountains for Christmas and this Florida girl felt she was walking in a winter wonderland. We hiked up snowy mountain trails which were pristine in their powdery brilliance. So beautiful!
I love Christmas. My joy comes from seeing my six grandchildren’s faces on Christmas morning. I love to shop for others. Angel tree and others who are less fortunate than we are. I’ve been there I know. That’s why I love Christmas.
My most memorable Holiday was New Years eve 1992. My Husband(now) proposed! He waited until Midnight to pop the question!
This past year was my most memorable holiday. It was my first Christmas not visiting family, but I made it my own and enjoyed it nonetheless.
My family would go to my Uncle Vilas’ for Christmas. After a very large dinner, Santa would arrive while all the kids were singing carols. It was very magical. I miss those times. I am glad we could celebrate with family and friends. I love those memories.
We still… (we are now 39, 37 and 33) wake up at 4:00am, open our stockings and then wake our parents to open the gifts. I think it’s great that we’ve now included the grandchildren in this tradition. It makes Christmas morning so magical.
My most memorable Christmas was when my son Zachary was born, as he was born on Christmas Day! He was predicted to arrive on Christmas Eve, but as we went to bed that night (and me as big as a whale) I had that feeling that “this child is never going to arrive”! Around 2 am Christmas day, I woke up to contractions and water breaking. I poked my sleeping husband and said, “We need to go to the hospital now.” He replied, “That’s nice,” and turned over and went back to sleep! Needless to say, I did awaken him and we got to the hospital in time–I had a short labor of only 2 hours and my doctor never arrived at the hospital, she was at a Christmas party! Early Christmas morning, as I lay recovering in the hospital room, Someone dressed at Santa came into the room and gave me a little brown teddy and said, “Merry Christmas to your new arrival!” I replied, “Yes Santa–it is a VERY merry Christmas.”
My most memorable Holiday? Hmmmm…
Seriously the one I remember most from my childhood was when I received a Skipper doll! The tradition in our household was we were able to pick one present from under the tree and open it on Christmas Eve…although there were bigger presents with my name on them this one seemed like it could hold a much longed for Skipper! I was beyond happy to have her and she went to midnight Mass that evening!!!
Yay! – Diana
I remember my uncle and 2 cousins came to sleep over on Christmas Eve one year when we were all very little… 8 years old down to 3. We had huge french doors in the living room and we layed out our sleeping bags and we all waited up as long as we could listening and watching for Santa and his reindeer! I remember hearing something and we all would try so hard to fall asleep b/c we all know Santa only comes if you are sleeping. It was so fun and so cute and we all think of it fondly every Christmas season :)
All our Christmases have been wonderful, but the ones where we made handmade gifts and candy seem to stick in my mind as extra special.
My favorite holiday memory would be watching the joy on my children’s faces as they open gifts on Christmas morning! So SPECIAL!
Christmas morning, 1992. I had a positive home pregnancy test for a much-longed-for second child. She’s 18 now. :D
My most memorable holiday was the year my brother got married during Christmas week. Because we live far away, we don’t normally get to see our extended family on holidays, but my brother’s wedding brought us all together for one big celebration season! j-j-s AT juno DOT com
I would say 6 years ago for Christmas my uncle showed up with a horse in a trailer for my Christmas gift!
Hard to pick just one but I love the holiday traditions we’ve created in my family over the last couple of years. We celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas and try to make both special. Hanukkah is all about time together so we have a theme for each night (i.e. pajama night where everyone gets a new pair of pjs and we snuggle up together with some hot chocolate). Christmas Eve we always go to a local street that really does up the decorations and then we come home and watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special with cookies and cocoa. My kids love the special family time even more than the gifts they get the next day.
i think my most memorable holiday was xmas about 8 or 9 years ago. xmas eve was really warm but with lots of snow and i organized caroling. i made up books and hand-held jingle bell bracelets and we caroled for a couple of hours around my community. there were people having family dinners and invited us in to sing for their tables and even tried to feed us and give us drinks ;-)
My most memorable holiday moment is the Christmas after Hurricane Katrina.
I am a katrina evacuee. I lost my job and my apartment. I slept on floors and took whatever job I could find. I ended up working as a glorified secretary at FEMA’s field office in Baton Rouge. While working there, I met a fireman from Ohio. On Christmas day, I flew to Ohio to visit and go on a couple of job interviews. On New Year’s day, we flew to Louisiana, packed up a u-haul and my truck and drove all the way back to Ohio where I have lived ever since. February will mark our 4 year wedding anniversary. :)
The year I got my first Cabbage Patch Doll, maybe 1984? I was so excited. I think my mom had to fight other moms to get one and my dad worked at a bank so they kept it in the safe.
I have no idea how old I was, but one of my strongest christmas memories was one year we left the house for dinner, Dad ran in because he forgot something, and when we got home that night, Santa had come! It was so exciting, at the time, and obviously stuck with me. Now it makes me so nostalgic. Thank you!
Two Christmases ago, we were snowed in. As former Southern Californians, this was every childhood Christmas fantasy come true. On Christmas Eve we walked across our snowy pasture to our neighbor’s house for dinner, and then were led back to our house by the lights in the windows. Such a special memory.
Our first trip to Portugal in 2008 – our first childless holiday since our honeymoon in 1987!!
My most memorable Christmas was immediately after my mother passed away in November 1999. My father came home and many of my sisters joined us to try to figure out how to celebrate without the central figure in our family gone from us. While we all gave it out best shot, it was a somber affair at first. We cried and hugged and opened gifts.
My son gave us all what we needed though….his stomach virus. As each of us succumbed to the virus we all started taking care of each other and remembering the motherly love of my mother. Her spirit was alive and well in each of us as we helped the other members recover.
The holiday was not the merriest, but it certainly was that best celebrating the true meaning of the season. What we can do for our fellow man and in this case our fellow patient :)
My most memorable holiday was Thanksgiving of 2007:) That year we had our first child and we were so grateful for her. There is another reason though. That year was my first attempt at Family get together at our house, and we invited about 20 people, all of whom said they will not be able to make it. So, I made a small feast for just the tree of us (bear in mind that our daughter was only 4 months old). We had all kinds of yummy food, but in very small quantities. And then…EVERYONE showed up anyway! So we had pizza :) Lots of pizza!
when i was about 5, my dad bought me a ‘Boone Bear’ Teddy Bear for Christmas. it was about as big as me. my dad usually left the gift shopping to my mom. It’s about the only thing I remember him ever buying for me.
ALL MY CHRISTMASES WERE WONDERFUL WITH WONDERFUL PARENTS!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
the year we had accident on the way home from Grandpa Hudson’s house and my BROTHER Jeff was born the next day ( he was to be my sister) December 25th
This may sound like a cop out…but I adore Christmas and the current year is always my favorite.
I’m not sure I could pick out just one! As a child, Christmas was always fun and exciting! I remember going to my Grandma and Grandpa’s, who had an artificial silver tree and one of those oscillating color-wheels, to reflect on it! (That was over 40 years ago!) When my first daughter was 14 months old…that was a special one. My mother-in-law lived close-by and Christmas was her favorite holiday. She did it up right! She made it very special for the new granddaughter. She’s no longer with us. :( I think of her often and think of how she would just *love* the scrapbooking/crafting world now! She missed seeing that whole medium blossom into what it has become. She was *very* creative and crafty and would’ve loved it.
The year my son was born was a very memorable CHristmas!
my most memorable would have to be when i was a child. i would stay up so late with anticipation for Santa to come. I would think that every sond was him on the roof top. i would lay in bed for what felt like hours until i drifted off to sleep.
My most memorable holiday is Christmas when I was in 6th grade. All of the family and extended family were at my great-grandmother’s. Right before dinner I tripped on a chair and hurt my arm. My arm throbbed all through dinner. After dinner an older cousin took all of us younger cousins to see the opening of Superman. My mother fashioned a sling out of a tea towel. My arm continued to throb. The next day it was swollen badly. My mom took me to the doc, and lo’ and behold it was broken. My mom felt so bad. She thought I was being a drama queen, and also did not want to bug the doc on a holiday.
My best Christmas was the my elder daughter’s first Christmas. She had fallen and had a concussion about 10 days before Christmas and I realized how lucky I was to see the joy of Christmas in her face.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas when I was four and found my missing baby doll under the tree at my grandparents house sitting on top of a box of doll clothes my grandmother had made! I still have a few pieces.
I think my most memorable holiday was the Christmas that we announced to our families that we were expecting our first child! We’ve had beautiful Christmases before and after that, but the joy of that year was unlike any other!
When I was a child, we had a Christmas party every year with all my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. We had dinner, participated in a talent program, and Santa came. Always lots of fun. The tradition continues.
Most memorable was when I was about 6 of 7. My family didn’t have much income at that time and my parents were struggling to provide for us. Right before Christmas some friends of ours came by to carol at our house. We invited them in after and visited for awhile. After they left someone rang the bell and on our doorstep was a box of presents and food for Christmas. I will never forget that – I believed with all my heart that Santa had left that for us.
Mine would have to be xmas 2005, the last Christmas we had with our 5th baby boy. I loved how I got him and his older brother matching Toronto Maple Leaf Jerseys, they played mini sticks and I video taped the entire day. For that I am ever grateful.
Memories mean everything to me now.
Memories of my son’s 2yrs on this earth help me cultivate a good life.
I SO love Christmas– it just seems to make the world seem “right”~! :-) My most memorable holiday… I guess it would be one of my very first in memory. We would drive to my Grandma & Grandpa L’s for our big family Christmas Eve get-together. There would be LOTS of cousins to play with and lots of yummy goodies to eat and lots of love shared. Afterward, when we were near home, Daddy would drive us around town to admire all the pretty Christmas lights and displays in people’s yards. My sisters and I would have the *hardest* time falling to sleep that night– every little sound would *most certainly* be Santa and the reindeer landing on the roof! :-) The next morning, we’d wake Momma and Daddy up way too early so that we could see what Santa Claus had left for us! Then, we’d pack up and drive to Grandma & Grandpa S’s for more family fun and the most delicious Christmas dinner ever….. It was the same every year– and I miss those days so, and my wonderful, loving Granparents, so much… but they’re always with me in my precious memories.. :-)
My first Christmas with my husband. He grew up in a Jewish household so it was all new to him.
i have to say my most memorable holiday was Christmas Day 2007 – that’s when i had my first baby! my due date was december 17, but when i passed that, my husband started rooting for christmas day. i didn’t, of course, because i didn’t want her to grow up being bitter that her birthday gets forgotten every year. christmas morning, i woke up to contractions, and i knew that was the day! since it was christmas, a lot of people had scheduled being induced, so i was the only one on the wing during the whole birth. pretty nice!
My most memorable holiday was Christmas 1999. I was supposed to give birth to my son this month instead, I had my son at 28 weeks in September and finally got to bring him home on October 1. He only weighed 3 lbs. but I was thrilled to have him home. When Christmas rolled around, I knew I had to go all out-I hired a Santa Claus(because he wasn’t able to go outside the house) I took pictures of him with Santa, he had more presents under the tree then I had ever seen. He had toys, clothes, little jungle gyms, and a whole lot of love!
My most memorable holiday was the year I got my first bicycle (red, with training wheels). I wanted to ride it so bad that my dad took it to our basement and I rode it around and around with my footie pajamas on :) Thanks for bringing back the memory!
My most memorable holiday was a few years ago when some family members we hadn’t seen in years were reunited at Christmas. Thanks for the fun giveaway! xo
Christmas!! I can set up a Christmas tree and received lots of present :)
One year for Christmas my uncle got everyone nerf ring guns. We spend the whole Christmas day running around shooting each other with our guns. It was so silly and fun and relaxed.
2008 when our Bulgarian inlaws came to celebrate with our family that now is one great family!!! They are amazing people and the pictures continue to bring the joy and memories back!!
A few years ago, my oldest daughter came home for Christmas with her 2 daughters, aged 2 years and 3 weeks. Our youngest daughter , had returned from living in England, so for the first time in years we were all together for the holidays. It was the most lovely time and to this day I remember all the laughs we shared, the baby hog I was allowed to be and the magic of Santa seen thru the eyes of the 2 year old.
My most memorable holiday….. hmmm… great question…. I’d say it was the first Christmas holiday spent with my then boyfriend, now DH, and his family in Atlanta. It was my first holiday away from my family. It was the beginning of a wonderful life together.
This may seem depressing but it was the Christmas after my brother died. My dad went and booked a trip to Hawaii for the 3 of us because he knew it would be a hard one and we’d had a hard fight keeping care of my brother. I think it rejuvenated us in some way, showed us that Christmas would still come and we could start new traditions and we had to carry on. It was just a wonderful time to share with my parents.
Probably my first Christmas with my husband — he spoiled me rotten. It’s our fifth Christmas together this year! :)
The year we received a tobogon. We spent many years following enjoying racing down hills as a family with it.
What a neat web site. My favorite memory is one I don’t even remember. I have pictures of when I was 2 years old with Santa visiting my house on Christmas morning. What fun!!
My daughter’s first Christmas almost 30 years ago. It was magical!!!
Well, that really is a hard question because it seems like every year the holidays are memorable, but I would have to say the most memorable holiday was Christmas 2006. It was the last Christmas with my great grandmother. She was a very sweet, funny, and special woman and I loved her dearly. She would have been 100 this year!
Favorite Holiday is Christmas 1971 when we went to my Grandparents and they gave us the game Aggrevation and we played for hours!
There have been so many memorable holidays that I really can’t pick one over another…there are of course the first Christmas’s for each of my kids, my 50th birthday, the Christmas I was waiting for back surgery so I was at home but doped to the gills, the first Christmas my husband and I had together after we got married. Too many good (and okay, some not so good!) memories.
Thank you for the grand giveaway! :)
Awesome prizes! My most memorable holiday was last Christmas… It was my first time hosting Christmas for my family, my first time being in a place where I can decorate and my first time spending the whole of Christmas with my partner…. It was just a year of firsts, and I loved every second of it!
First holiday with my husband… so special for it to just be just.
My most memorable holiday…. hmmm….. it would have to be ones in my mother-in-law’s basement when my children were small. She loved being a grammie so much and made all the hoopla around the presents and family so strong and so much fun! Susan
My most memorable was my first Xmas away from my husband (then boyfriend)… it made me realize that he was THE ONE! Eleven years later and we haven’t missed another one!
Christmas at grandma and grandpa’s house with the entire family. Doing nothing but spending time together, talking, sharing stories, playing cards and napping with grandpa in the recliner. It’s everything the holidays mean surrounded by family.
No particular holiday stands out as memorable but the memories I have of Christmas is stirring the Christmas pudding and making a wish, making biscuits to give to neighbours and friends and putting up the real pine tree and decorating it with my whole family, listening to Christmas carols and enjoying each others company.
Family was very important to us and still is for me. I love decorating the tree with my children and listening to Christmas carols. This year we are making biscuits for family and friends too.
My most favorite holiday would have to be the first Christmas that I spent with my little ones after my divorce. Nothing like the joy of small children to help you stay focused on what’s most important in life. I will never forget that holiday and the joy we derived from just being together.
I always loved Halloween for the kids. They had so much fun.
The year after my dad passed away my mom took us to visit a relative who had an awful silver tinsel tree and lived somewhere very warm. My sister an I were miserable the whole time, worrying about Santa not being able to find us so far from home. Upon arrival home my eldest cousin had put up a real tree and wrapped gifts from Santa. It meant so much to my sister and I. I’ll never forget her kindness.
The 4th of July, this year. My Dad and older siblings were off on a trip leaving the “3 little ones” (41, 39, and 37- years old, respectively) at home. We packed the car, threw a cooler in back, drove 200+ miles to our favorite vacation spot as children for sandy beaches, picnics, putt-putt golf, shopping & geocaching. Did I mention we drove 400+ miles, round tri, and only spent the day there?
What wonderful giveaways. My most memorable holiday was Thanksgiving 2004. My daughter was sick and ended up in the hospital the day before Thanksgiving. We had quite a few people coming to our house that year, and I had 5 other children at home. My husband and I took turns staying at the hospital, and it was so wonderful the way people came out of the woodwork to help us. It was a scary time, but we truly learned the meaning of Thanksgiving that year….especially when we found out it wasn’t leukemia!
Blessings,
Marcia
Christmas of 2009. I was diagnosed with cancer 3 days before Christmas. The tree went undecorated. Other “normal” holiday activities didn’t happen. But my wonderful son and daughter wrapped all the presents and made the food gifts we had planned (including a fun ornament cake from scratch!). Giving themselves even when I knew they were scared. Helping to allow us to feel JOY when it didn’t seem possible. Now each Christmas that we share is that more precious.
Mine is every Christmas at my grandparent’s old farm. They had a wood burning stove and would light it Christmas night in the livingroom where the whole family would gather. Us kids would have so much fun playing and listening to many stories the adults were telling. We all would receive a very special gift. Those were great times.
Driving thru the snow, up to the Mountian cabin for a white christmas…
My most memorable holiday was last Christmas. The whole family was together, and we spent it at my brother’s house. I made my very first quilt for my niece and I gave it to her last Christmas. It was magical to watch her open up the package with the quilt!!!!
I love Christmas because of the traditions and festivities. Thanks for the great giveaway! Merry Christmas to you!!!!!
One year when I was about 7, all I wanted for Christmas, was a Chatty
Cathy Doll… Dad was working 3 jobs to keep our family going.
I really didn’t expect to get my doll, but come Christmas morning,
there was Chatty Cathy waiting under the Christmas Tree!
Many thanks, Cindi
My most memorable Christmas comes from my childhood. It was the Christmas I got my first bicycle and man o man was it beautiful under all those lights!
Last Christmas will always remain in my heart. It was a big family gathering. I got to meet my new niece. And now my parents have sold that home – my childhood home. It was the perfect last holiday there together.
Thank you for all the fine prizes, ladies!
I have had many memorable Christmas memories. However, when I was around 12 my mom and dad gavie me an English racer bike for Christmas. Dad insisted on showing me how to ride it and use the handle brakes. I had never seen my dad on a bike my entire life. He jumped on rode down the street and as he neared our house, he forgot about the hand brakes and promptly crashed in into our mailbox. Christmas day was spent in the emergency room getting a cast on his foot. The following day, we had to buy a new mailbox. That turned out to be a very expensive bike, but the memories were priceless.
I really love every holiday, it would be impossible to pick the most memorable. I loved last Thanksgiving and expect this Christmas will be wonderful.
Amazing women. Amazing gifts.
I think it was the year when all of us cousins were at grandma and grandpa’s house. There was so much excitement in the air and we saw Rudolph’s red nose in the distance and then later on heard his hooves on the roof. To this day, I still think we saw and heard it all. *grin*
My most memorable…I was in grade school, I can’t remember exactly how old but I still believed in Santa Claus. Santa would always make our house one of his first stops so we would open our gifts late on Christmas Eve. I remember the front doorbell rand and my brother and I rand upstairs to answer it but no one was there. We went back down stairs and our presents had arrived – we missed seeing Santa but we got to open our presents with our extended family. So fun as a child.
The most memorable holiday was 2007 – my husband just came home from Kuwait and it was our son’s first christmas!
I would have to say 2007– the first Christmas with our daughter. She was only 2 weeks old and so tiny she could fit into her stocking! The photos from that year are some of my most cherished items.
What a beautiful Giveaway!
My most memorable Holiday…That would be the one we had three years ago after my mother´s brother died (he was only 46). Our family stuck together like never before and it was the most amazing Christmas time ever even though it was covered with heartache…but we somehow knew he was there, watching us like an angel.
Merry Christmas to all of you! <3
When I was young, I was 5 to 8 years older than my 4 siblings. At some point, I was deemed old enough to help Mom and Dad Santa put out Christmas and I still love that memory. There was such magic in sharing that late night with my parents and helping make the magic of Christmas morning for the little ones.
My fav christmas movie is Elf… the perfect combo of cute and funny.
Wow, that’s a hard one! I guess one of them would be when I was 16 and my dad had gotten me a stereo from ‘Santa.’ I LOOOOOVVVEEED it! But there are so many that it would be hard to choose just one. The year our first granddaughter was born is quite memorable. She came home on Christmas Eve at a whopping 4 lbs with a bili-blanket and a lateral cleft. We all stayed at my parent’s house that year. My daughter ate our traditional Christmas eve meal of chili and snacks and was breast feeding. NOT a good combination! Our sweet little angel granddaughter had a tummy ache all night so Grammie and Papa stayed up with her so my daughter could sleep. Then at about 1am her bili-blanket quit working and Grammie and Papa went to the other side of town to meet the medical supplier to get another one. It was a nightmare then but funny when we look back on it now. And, our granddaughter is now a beautiful little 4 year old who is greatly looking forward to Christmas this year!
One year, while my mom was out shopping, she had gone inside her last store with all of the presents inside the car. When she returned, the car was emptied as someone had stolen all of the gifts she had purchased. She informed us that we wouldn’t be receiving gifts that year as a result of the theft. So, my two sisters and I resolved to have a thankful heart and not expect anything under the tree that Christmas. We woke up on Christmas morning and sure enough, there was nothing under the tree and we were doing a great job being strong! However, soon thereafter, my mom surprised us with a box full of gifts that she had hid secretly in her closet to replace some of those that had been stolen. We were thrilled!
One year I was so excited about the gift I was giving my little brothers. I think it may have been the first time I spent my very own money. It was a gift I would have loved myself and just knew that they were going to love it. It wasn’t one of the first gifts picked to open and the excitement in my little heart was building. I finally yelled, “Open your Spirograph!” The whole family just burst into laughter — and still do to this day!
I have many wonderful memories of Christmas. I loved going with my dad in our pajamas to visit the neighbors and give them their gifts. Now I enjoy a relaxed day at home with my kids..watching them open their gifts, making eggs benedict is our tradition for brunch…. I love it all!
my most memberable Chiristmas was my first with my husband, we invited my family over and I cooked, it was the first big girl thing I did!
I have loved and appreciated each Christmas I have celebrated, but must confess that the ones I loved best were the ones that I got to spend with my precious mother!
Hate to say it, but my most memorable Christmas was 5 years ago when my dad died on the 23rd. Bad times, but easier as years pass. On a happier note, great prizes!
Probably the year my sister and I received roller skates for Christmas…and it was about 10 C so we could actually try them out! (I live in Ontario, where a white Christmas is normal).
We lived in California when my daughter was young and so winters were green not white. Even though we traveled to my parents in Northern Kentucky every Christmas, it threatened to be a green Christmas in Kentucky despite my daughter’s wishes for a white Christmas. Yet, somehow it always snowed on Christmas Eve or even Christmas morning just for my daughter. Magical!
My most favorite holiday memories is standing in front of my grandmothers’ exquisitely decorated christmas tree with all my cousins, in our handmade pajamas, singing christmas carols while my grandmother accompanied us on the piano. Those years were so much fun.
I’m not really sure that I have a most memorable Christmas. Each one is memorable for one reason or another. There was the year when my sisters and I were all working a lot and Mom didn’t want to decorate. Then one night we came home from work to find that our neighbor had come in and transformed the main rooms of our lower floor! Or last year when my oldest sister and her family came and we have a big Christmas dinner (much bigger than usual, and prepared almost entirely by another sister and me). :)
My most memorable holiday was whenwe went to Disney World with the three kids and I broke ankle Christmas Eve. It made the trip quite interesting.
Thanksgiving—-my family gets together and we enjoy each others company and the good food.
Most memorable…my first child’s first Christmas!
My most memorable Christmas might be two years ago when we were snowed in under almost 15 inches of snow. It was the first time we didn’t have to load five kids in the car with presents and food to do our usual marathon of visits to relatives. Being snowed in, we cooked, watched movies, napped, played with the new toys, and it was the first time we ate in the “formal” dining room of the house we had lived in for eight years!
I love this contest! Even if I don’t win anything, I can see I will learn about so many artists!
While Christmas as a child was not filled with many traditions, I do remember saving the Christmas cards (before they were all photos) and making placemats with them with my mom. She was not a crafty person, but even then I knew it was a special time and I my love of crafting started then. I certainly wish my mom had saved those placemats as it would bring such a smile to my face. Today with my craft interests and the plethora of ideas from pinterest, I am instilling lots of crafty projects and traditions with my young children.
The holiday I remember most is the first holiday after my father passed away. My mom and I were alone as my son was already off to college and I had moved back home to take care of her. My mom always worked very hard every holiday to get everything done. She didn’t drive, but still was able to get all the presents, have them wrapped, make tons of baked goods to give away in baskets with fruit and candy, and fix huge farm feasts for the family and all the relatives and friends that stopped by on Christmas day. I was surprised when she turned to me and said “let’s cut back this year, ok”. I thought we we’re going to skip the whole routine with my father gone. Instead, we sat down and planned what we needed and wanted to do; prioritized everything and went to work. She and I got so close that Christmas. She shared stories about her childhood while we baked cookies; we laughed at all the funny things that had happened over Christmases past; and we made it through without too many tears. It was truly a great Christmas that year for me. I will always treasure it.
My most memorable Christmas was when we drove 4 hours to surprise my sister on Christmas morning!
Most memorable to me would have to be the lights. Every holiday season, my cousins and I would all pile into a giant van and drive for hours looking at the lights. My uncle would let us tell him where to turn and we loved “getting lost” in an endless Christmas wonderland. We would “ooh” and “ahh” over each and every house. Definitely a memory I will never forget. It was magical.
My most memorable holiday will be this year’s – they just get better each year, and as i get older memories fade! lol – not really, but I treasure them more with each year that goes by and I am so grateful that my family is safe and sound for another year…
Christmas has the most memories for me, probably because we make the season last for over a month. From the day we pulled out the decorating boxes, to the holiday baking parties, trimming the tree, and singing the songs all the way to the morning of Christmas. It has always been a long lasting Holiday, rich with memories.
Loving all these products, thanks for the inspiration and chance to win!
My favorite holiday would have to be Christmas 2003, it was the second year with my fiance but our first Christmas being spent together out of town at his grandparents house. It was warm, fun and so full of love. It made me realize how close his family is no matter how far apart they are the rest of the year as they try so hard to make sure they are all together at Christmas.
I think 2008. It was my first Christmas with just my children and husband. My son was only a month old. It was so relaxed, fun, and special. Definitely a great memory.
I love Christmas. The family gets together. The tree, the carols, the dinner, the snow, the presents, the kids, the stockings, and the month before getting ready for it. thanks, kathy
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas my daughter was born. She was about 5 weeks old and my in-laws came to visit. It was 90+degrees outside and my husband insisted we needed a complete turkey dinner. My daughter, who almost never cried, cried all day long. I was exhausted from taking care of a newborn, had a house full of people and no one helped with dinner. To this day I do not like to cook turkey. I’ve also never had my in-laws again for visit on a major holiday.
Christmas 2002 was the last Christmas with my aunt before she passed away. She was my dad´s only sibling and she died of cancer on March 03.
She was sick already, but besides her weakness, she was all smiles. I remember her fondly.
My most memorable holiday was when my youngest brother was born on Christmas Eve. I was 7 and my soon to be middle brother was 4. Baby decided to come a few days early and so we were whisked off by my aunt to stay at her house. I remember the BIGGEST worry then on my 7 yr old mind was NOT about baby brother, but instead, HOW WAS SANTA EVER GOING TO FIND US AT OUR AUNT’S HOUSE ??? I was really, really worried. I remember crying and my aunt telling me Don’t worry, Santa KNOWS where you are.
And yes he did … and on Christmas Day I remember she took us up to the hospital but all we could do was stand outside in the snow and wave up to Mom in her hospital room window. NO little kids were allowed to visit back then, in 1965. How times have changed ! We didn’t get to see baby brother until he was brought home 3 days later.
A Christmas to remember !!
In sixth grade, I got JEANS from Christmas. My mom would never let me wear jeans to school…I had to wear a dress. my gawd! I wore those jeans every single day. I’m still scarred by the no jeans thing and let my OWN daughter, Megan, wear anything she wanted!
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year and every Christmas is memorable for its own special reasons…thanks!
When several family member were out of work, or sill in school, we decide not to exchange gifts. WE still got together, and ate great food, but we added entertainment. Singing around the piano, maybe a little skit, a poem. Through the years it has changed, but being together is what counts
One I have a fond memory of is coming home after going to see the bon fires( lit all along the MS river to show Papa Noel the way). As we were driving home my daughter who was then about 7 or 8 saw “Santa Claus” and his reindeer flying in the sky. It was actually an airplane. So we had to hurry home and go straight to bed so he wouldn’t pass up our house.
My most memorable holiday was December 24th 1971. That was the day my husband asked me to marry him. I said yes and I am still happy that I did.
My most memorable Christmas was the one spent in Reutlingen, Germany with my husband and two young children. It was our first Christmas away from home and we needed Christmas decorations for our live tree. My children colored and cut out paper ornaments and I sewed Christmas stockings for all of us. The tree was small and sparsely decorated, but it brought the warmth of Christmas into our tiny apartment. Wonderful memories!
love May arts ribbon! My most memorable holiday was my first in our first home the 2nd year we had been married. I grew up in CA but moved to TX when I got married. My 2 older sisters, brother in law and cousin (4 at the time) came to celebrate with us. It meant so much to me.
My most memorable Christmas was 1962. My now husband proposed to be just before the 25th. We have now been married 48 wonderful years and have 4 children, 4 in-law-children, and 11 grandchildren. We have been so blessed.
Have a God Filled Day
Shirley
My most memorable was probably the year my husband and I were engaged ~ 1999.
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
The year my Dad and I had a tree in our rec room. My Mom always had themed trees (Red poinsettas, gold balls, flocked tree etc.) I loved old fashion trees. So Dad got a cheap tree from Chubby & Tubby (under $5) and he and I decorated it with paper chains, popcorn garlands, old ornaments, etc. It was the most beautiful tree in my 10 year old eyes and still is in my memories.
In 2001 I was nine months pregnant with my fourth child. I sat at our Christmas Eve midnight service timing contractions, praying she would hold off until at least after we’d had Christmas morning with the older three children. My sweet girl (and my uterus!) settled down, we had our full Christmas Eve & Christmas Day and she was born promptly on the 26th!
Probably last Thanksgiving and Christmas ~ after having my boy away at school, it was so good to have him home again!
When little, I loved waking up Christmas morning and could never understand how Santa (then my parents) could bring all those gifts into the house without waking me up. Plus, the gifts were never wrapped! We would have a toy and a necessity gift, and wear the pretty handmade flannel nightgown given to us on Christmas eve by my grandmother.
My most memorable holiday was a cruise we took to celebrate our 25th anniversary and the turn of the century.
As a child, the most memorable was a frigid Christmas Even when I had an earache. As an adult, it was 2004 when our fourth child was born just a month before in our unfinished home. Nothing is a sweet as a new baby, an air matress, and Mr. Heater Head!
It was 1999. I was pregnant with my 3rd child and we took our other 2 to the Aquarium in the city, had a car accident, and spent the night at a city hospital (maybe in labor). It was Dec 30 and they were swapping out all the computers for the big Y2K event!
My most memorable one are my childhood ones. My father and grandparents were still alive and I miss them so much!
Most memorable was my first sons first christmas. The way his little eyes lit up.
I think it would have to be my daughters 2nd christmas when she open her Barney toy. So much excitment there it was
Last year was my most memorable Christmas. In Sept, 2010 we lost our home and everything we owned from a fire caused by the National Guard. It has taken us 35 years to build our dream home and all was wiped out in a matter of an hour. I lost all my childrens pictures, all my art supplies, all my handed down family antiques. I was really suffering as Christmas approached. We traveled to my daughters house 400 miles away, my sister came from another state. As we were all there I realized that being together safe and sound was a Christmas I really cherished.
My favorite holiday memory was walking downstairs Christmas morning and realizing that my parents had scraped together to buy us a pinball machine. Seriously–a pinball machine?! Who does that?
When I was a kid, we spent Christmas with my grandparents and I swore I saw Santa’s reindeer on the way home from church on Christmas Eve. When we got home, Santa had come and left presents. I truly believed in magic that night!
I don’t remember how old I was but I will never forget the christmas I opened a perfect, beautiful doll. I named her Sheri and still have her to this day.
One Christmas Eve when I was young myself, my two brothers and sister were tucked into our beds….we heard bells outside. We kept looking outside and could not see anything. The next morning our Dad pointed out at the snow and there were tiny little prints in one area of the yard. We accused him of making them. He said no, it must have been Santa. We were so excited that it could have been Santa. My Dad never admited to putting the prints in the snow…..maybe it really was Santa. That has always been a favorite memory of ours.
I will never forget the year my brother and sister and me found a horse on our porch with jingle bells around his neck||| We havw many picture of all three of us sitting on this “present” next to the tree. What a memory that still is.
It was in 1971 – I had been dating my husband-to-be and was hoping to get a diamond for Christmas. I didn’t get it. Another plan was at work.
On New Year’s Eve, we went ice skating and afterwards, we walked back to our car and he detoured me to go under a bridge and it was there that he proposed. I can still see that diamond sparkling in the New Year’s light! I walked on air and will always remember that most romantic holiday!
Thank you for this giveaway that sparkles like an engagement ring! You all shine!*~*~*~*
My most memorable was in 1999
it was my son’s 1st Christmas—I enjoyed every minute of it
Oh now I hope I win!!!!!I love all your stuff!!!!
My most memorable was when I was sick and had to go to the hospital. I got to open one gift early and received a doll high chair.
I enjoyed Christmas just because it is a special time of year. But I’d have to say my most favorite holiday was Easter in 1991 because it was the last with my Dad. And just like God to show such kindness to me – we actually had dinner at my parents house and he even hid eggs and had a huge egg hunt for all of the grandchildren. It was a vey special time and still makes me smile when I think of it. :-)
Hands down, the Christmas I gave birth to our daughter! Went into labor Xmas eve (after unsuccessfully trying to will labor away- yes, like I had super powers) and finally had her at 9am Xmas Morning! Crazy, exciting, draining and lovely Christmas!
I was like 9-10 years old and I had very bad flu – the saddest Christmas). Thank you!
Thanks for the chance to win some amazing prizes! My best holiday memory was making a special gift for a special friend and watching her open it!
For some reason, my most memorable Christmas was the year I received my Baby Sparkle doll and this HUGE box of Andes mints. I promised myself that I would only eat one a day. I don’t remember how long that lasted, but it wasn’t for long. Thanks! :)
Last year when my mom was in the hospital and couldn’t be home with us.
I loved my first Christmas being a Mom…….both my children were born in Jan. so by their first Christmas they were pretty aware so it was just delightful to see Christmas through their little child eyes.
thanks so much for the chance to win these amazing gifts from these talented ladies.
Happy Sewing and Merry Merry Christmas
I love Christmas, but one that I loved was. My in-laws who live in Chicago, were coming to spend Christmas with us, but they came 2 days early and did not let us know. They stayed in a Hotel and my father in-law dressed up like Santa, they took a cab to our home and showed up at our back door, our boys were 4 and 9 years old and when they saw Santa they took off running. He gave them a candy cane and left. We did not know who it was. It was several years later that we found out! It was a wonderful surprise for the boys. Terri
My most memorable holiday was Christmas circa 1974. I was 5, my oldest brother, Danny had moved out of the house that year but was home for the night and we have quite a few photos from that day, which inspire next to total recall in me.
Our family tradition of having lasagne for xmas dinner started after that year, but it was excellent anyway…
My most memorable Christmas was l988; the first of three Christmases our little family lived in Norway. Working for an international energy research institute, we shared traditions with our next door neighbors from England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Italy & Denmark. The families shared traditional foods, and holiday customs & celebrations and even now we still hear from many of them at Christmas time. God Jul & Godt Nytt Ar!
the year i got an EASY BAKE OVEN !!
I must’ve been about four years old when I recall watching as my parents worked for what seemed like hours and hours creating the most beautiful Christmas for me, their only child. I remember dozing off and on and everytime I awoke, there was something new to see. Years later, I learned that my Mom actually cut out pictures of people and houses from old Christmas cards that she used to create scenes on cotton hills stuffed with newspapers. I’m 52 years old and still remember moments of that Christmas.
Being born (1958) only four days after Christmas, my most memorable Christmas was my 27th Christmas. The reason being that was the first year I actually got a Birthday party!!! Yippee. Christmas was always big in our home and even bigger was new years day with all the football games, so my birthday got well over looked and forgotten. But not on my 27th!!! Christmas was a big deal that year because I got my first birthday party!!! Yeah mee. Sounds selfish, but if you had to live that many years in the shadow of Christmas you would understand LOL!!
Thank you for such a fun and creative giveaway and Merry Christmas one and all!!
I think they all have special memories… family, friends and fun.
All the Christmases since my kids have been born are special, but probably my most memorable was when my husband and I first got married. Since it was just us, we had a little extra money to help the family next door who couldn’t afford to have Christmas for their kids. They all, (three kids) made us an ornament for our tree!
My favorite Christmas activity is making snowflakes for the windows. So fun and festive!
My most memorable holiday was seeing Christmas through the eyes of my youngest daughter when she was old enough to understand what it was all about.
My mother always used this season to concentrate on the less fortunate. She was living in South Hampton, Long Island, cleaning homes for a living. While making up Christmas baskets with the local church, she met a family that spoke to her heart.
They were living in a motel, the dad was in the hospital and the woman’s three children had nothing. The little boys had to share a coat and take turns going outside to play. My mother was sitting in a local coffee shop and telling the owner about this family. One by one, people who were sitting nearby left money at her table. She was so thrilled that she told her first customer, and she also gave money. By the end of the week she had collection almost $1,000. The local tree farm donated a tree and her best friend took the children for new boots.
Lynne helped put their Christmas tree up and discussed a plan for Christmas Eve. My mom and my sister Lynne wrapped all the gifts and told Maria that they would deliver the gifts on Christmas Even. There were new coats, boots, gloves and toys.
I was visiting for Christmas Eve, and when I saw that my mother was not feeling well, I offered to go with Lynne and her friend Anne to deliver the gifts. As I drove up the hill to the motel where they lived, it was snowing quite heavily. I saw a light and a manger at the top of the hill, but as I got closer I saw that it was only the sign to the motel. Lynne knocked on Maria’s door and the gifts were left on the porch as promised. As we all climbed back into the car, I mentioned that I thought the motel sign was a manger. Annie’s eyes grew as big as saucers. “I saw it too”, she squealed.
This was my favorite Christmas of all time because it truly was the perfect Christmas gift. My mother is 85 years old and still collects food for the poor in her complex in South Burlington, Vermont. Some lessons last a lifetime.
Karen
My most memorable holiday was the year my brother was born. He was born before Christmas on Dec.22 and my mom brought him home from the hospital on Christmas Eve in a big stocking..25 years ago!
All Christmases are memorable, it’s so hard to choose just one. One that makes me smile every time is the first Christmas I spent being a Mom. Christmas takes on a whole new meaning when you have children. Watching their excitement, experiencing the wonder of magical Santa Claus all over again through the eyes of your children is something that I am so blessed to have have experienced.
Hannukah, signing songs {with hand motions}, lighting candles, hiding our eyes while my mom brought our gifts out, latkes with apple sauce….!
The most memorable Holiday I had was when I was pregnant with my son. I was on bedrest and did not leave the house with the exception of my weekly doctor’s appt. My parents came out to visit and they did it all. They put up the tree, bought groceries and cooked, and even did my shopping for me. I am so blessed to have them!
My favorite holiday memory is probably when we took our children on a trip to Florida during Christmas break….it was a job to travel with four kids aged 8 and under…but it is a trip I will always remember!
Thanks for such a great giveaway!
Julie
Christmas 2002. Because my husband came home that day from a deployment to Afghanistan.
Christmas 2000 was my most memorable. The good things about this were that it was my twin daughter’s first Christmas, my husband bought me a gorgeous locket, my brother moved back and my sister graduated from college. The worst parts were that my stepfather passed away of cancer in December and my Grandmother had passed away in September so it was a bitter sweet holiday for us all.
In my early teens we moved to a beautiful farm in TN.. it was beautiful and the small town did it up right for the holidays. They were magical! Sarah
My most memorable holiday was a Christmas Eve several years ago when I had to work and didn’t get off work until 11pm. We hopped in the car and drove 4 hours to my parents’ house and along the way it started snowing. We happily rode along with Christmas music on the radio and were giddy when we saw a lighted house or structure out in the fields along the highway. It is a lovely memory.
The year my dad built us an igloo out of snow for Christmas. We didn’t have enough money for presents. I was in 2nd grade. :)
My most “memorable” holiday was actually on an Easter eve…we had a fire going in the fireplace…I was 10 years old. I had recently had surgery on both legs and had casts on both legs. The whole family was sitting around the fireplace, relaxing, and my dad had just put another log on the fire. Suddenly there was pounding at the front door – my dad went to see who it was, and several people had stopped at our house to tell us there were sparks coming out of the chimney! We all had to get out of the house and call the fire department. I’ll never forget hobbling out into the driveway – forgetting my crutches – and watching the fire department show up…they had to put the fire out, as the inside of the chimney was apparently on fire!! It was a crazy night – but I’ll never forget that Easter! LOL
Finding just the right gift, without spending lots of $$ is very fun. When money was especially scarce one year, that is what happened.
[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ’780523447 which is not a hashcash value.
It would have to be 1988. We had just moved to Germany with 7 week old twins. Such a tiring, but joyous time.
Gosh no favorite memories but do remember the year, not tooo long ago when we had 2 feet of snow Christmas afternoon. The kids loved it!
One of my most memorable Christmas’ was 1985 when my then boyfriend proposed marriage with a diamond ring. We were at my parents’ home and all my family seemed to be in on what was going on. We will be married for 26 years in March!!
The most memorable holiday for me was Christmas 1976; it was my daughter’s first Christmas and she learned to say the word “pretty” as she touched each shiny ball on the Christmas tree.
my most memorable holiday was the first one with my now husband. He is HUGE into Christmas and went all out with the getting ready for it and his excitement was so contagious! We made snowmen on other peoples yard (older people with no kids to make), he bought fun gifts – not just needed stuff but silly things like nerf guns for everyone in my family so we could all have a laugh together. it was awesome! and now we always try and make the holidays fun.

This will be one of most memorable Christmases because our babe was born last year and has had a lot of medical issues this year and there were times I didn’t know if she would still be with us this Christmas….we are so grateful to be able to celebrate as a family and have her with us and doing so well! Thank you!
the year I got a puppy
My most memorable holiday is the year santa hid my son’s presents and left him coal. He did leave him a note stating he had to find his presents. My son loved it and now asks for his gifts to be hidden each year!
My most memorable Christmas has to be my first one with a child. Being a Mom at Chrstmas means so much more. It makes it more special. Thanks again for another chance to win.
I think that this will be my most memoralbe holiday because it will be my daughter’s first Christmas!
The year I had a newborn baby boy at Christmas was one of my favorites. Looking back, life was so much simpler then, but I also love holidays now, with a household bustling with activity and busy children.
The first Christmas we spent with just my mom’s side of the family after my parents split up. It was such a fantastic and peaceful Christmas and my grandparents and Uncle Les were all still alive so I got to celebrate with everyone I loved.
When our first daughter was an infant, we took a picture of her sleeping in her Moses basket under the Christmas tree. She was the best gift ever.
Hi, Thank you for the 12 days of Holiday giveaways. I have to say every Christmas when I was little. My mom loved Christmas she would decorate the house and light it windows with one candle we were poor but my mom made it the best Holiday she could and she made sure that Santa stopped and left us something even if it was cookies and fruit we always had something. Happy Holiday to You and Yours.
My favorite Christmases have been the last few and I’m sure the next few. My boys are at the age where Christmas is so magical and special. I love experiencing the joy of the holiday through my children’s eyes. Thanks for the chance!
I would have to say my memorable holiday was Christmas 2007 when my twin girls were 3. One of my twin girls is autistic and literally had finally just started talking 2 days prior to Christmas. Finally hearing her voice made that Christmas so special and so memorable for all of us!
Last Christmas was my favorite. One daughter was 3 and the other 1. I loved their excitement and enthusiasm. But really I think this will be my favorite! They are both so excited about everything “Merry Christmas Time”!
Last Christmas my father was near death in the hospital and I prayed we could have at least one more Christmas with him. So when he was able to come home and celebrate Christmas with us, it was a huge GIFT from God. He is here this year, and prayerfully will be with us again.
Thanks!
Linda

What beautiful gifts! My most memorable holiday is not my favorite, but it is memorable. My husband was deployed but was going to be home a couple of days after Christmas. My kids were 2 and 6. My daughter was recovering from a tonsillectomy, my son had chicken pox,a nd I was recovering from Hepatitis A and pneumonia. Christmas Eve was spent at the ER as my son’s eardrum had ruptured. ( I called first; they said no one was there, so teh fact he had chicken pox was not a problem.) Christmas Day I et the kids open one present each, and they received a note from “Santa” saying he was really busy but would be back by when their Dad got home. They were in bed asleep, and I was feeling pretty good about how I had manged things. Then I got ready for bed and flushed the toilet in our MBR bath. It overflowed big time, as did our other bathroom toilet. I mopped and cried, mopped and cried. : ) But the next day, the sun came up, the plumbing was fixed, and life went on. So yes, it was memorable for me.
Mine is a sad one. It was when I was around 9 or 10. My dad was very sick that year, we lost him the following Febuary, and Santa didn’t come to our house.
Cramming the whole family into my inlaws house – 15 of us including 7 kids. We were all on top of each other, but it was so fun!
When my son first was able to figure out what was going on. I really enjoyed seeing things through the kids eyes.
The most memorable holiday I have is the first Christmas I spent with my (now husband). We had just fallen in love and it was the most romantic holiday I’ve ever had! 10 years later we now have 3 girls (ages 5, 4 and 3 months). Christmas is now all about our children but I love to remember our 1st Christmas together as it warms my heart and how blessed I am to have met my husband!
The year that we gave my in-laws a trip to Colorado to visit their other daughter and then to Florida to see other relatives they had not seen in years. My father-in-law died the next year. I am so thankful that he got to make the trip. They would have never paid the money to go thinking it was too expensive.
My most memorable Christmas was in 1998, the last one with my mom before she died at age 76. I still miss her very much, especially at this time of year.
Thanks,
Peggy
My most memorable Christmas was actually last year.
It snowed for the first time since we moved to NC in 25 years.
And my son surprised and came home for Christmas.
The year we gave my in-laws a trip to Colorado and Florida to visit relatives they had not seen in years. They would not go because they thought it was too expensive. I was glad they were able to go because dad died the following year.
My most memorable holiday happened when I was about 6 years old. Every year Santa would come to my Granparents’ house during the Christmas Eve party. I noticed that every time Santa showed up, my Papap was nowhere to be found. I told my parents that I thought Santa was Papap. So the next year, Santa showed up and my Papap was right there to shake his hand. Turns out, my Grandma dressed up that year to throw me off!=) The memory makes me smile every time!
That so hard to choose! I remember one wonderful one when my youngest brother was only 4 days old, and many others throughout childhood. And my daughter’s first Christmas was so much fun, too.
Not sure the age actually but one of the last Christmas celebrations we had on my grandparent’s farm. My entire huge family was there. My grandpa made me a wonderful dollhouse. It was fabulous.
The first one of which I was a parent!
My most memorable Christmas occurred when my father was living with us in his senior years and my children were still young. Each of my children was in charge of making something for Christmas dinner. My sons’ choice was deviled eggs and pumpkin pie–both of which he did with extreme accomplishment. Both children learned to be avid cooks thanks to their paternal step-grandmother and 4-H. No need for supervision, I wasn’t worried about what the outcome would be. My father was almost blessed with the first piece of pumpkin pie, and the joy of opening the whipped cream can to make the tremendous swirl on top of his piece of pie. Even though he was in his eighties, he found such joy in the littlest of things. Fork in hand, he placed his savored first bite in his mouth. He quickly announced that there was something wrong with the pumpkin pie. Indeed there was, my son had used salt instead of sugar in making the pies that year!
Christmas 1977. This was the last year my entire family was together for Christmas. With 8 children, very spread out in age and living all over the country, we never got together as a family again. I remember too that we had a white Christmas in CO and the creek was frozen over.
Last Christmas because my grandson was so excited.
My most memorable Christmas was the first year that my husband and I decided to break with tradition from each of our families and start our own traditions with our family. It was a hard decision to make and to actually follow up on but the next Christmas both of our parents asked if they could join us in our home to help make new traditions.

I have to pick one?! I think every Christmas is special. However, if I have to pick just one, I would probably pick last year. I went home the week before Christmas to celebrate with my family. However, for the actual holiday, I spent the days with my patients in a Pediatric ICU. Not only was it my first white Christmas, but I was able to help bring Christmas spirit to the patients and families in the hospital.
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas after my son was born. He was only a couple months old. My mom was as thrilled as I’ve ever seen her to have that baby to love on. She died when he was only 2 so the memories of those early Christmases are really special. He was her only grandchild born before she died.
My most memorable Christmas was when my son was 4. That’s the first year he really understood about Santa & presents both giving and receiving. It was the first year he gave me a present he made & will always hold a place in my heart. Great giveaway – thanks for the chance to win.
I got married a week before Christmas and that year was definitely memorable. However, each year with my daughter is memorable, too, as she grows and understands more and more.
I think my 1st Christmas as a married couple in Vermont – I just love winter in Vermont and it began a wonderful journey of many wonderful Christmas’ with my husband!
The first christmas with my oldest when he was one. I still remember the awe when he discovered the new toys. Actually he liked the boxes very well too. thanks, kathy
Last year. My father-in-law died on the 23rd of December, and there was so much closeness and love in the family as everyone was feeling very spiritual.
When I was young and believed in Santa… the thrill the morning of Christmas… the box of ribbon candy we received at church… yes… to be young and have that unbelievable sense of wonder…
I would have to say my most memorable holidays were at my grandparents house with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins when I was little. Everyone there from all over, together.
Christmas as family gets together and it is so much fun!
The best holiday was the Thanksgiving after my last child was born. You see, I wasn’t supposed to have children, I wasn’t even supposed to live past the age of 20. When I was 8 I had a stroke and was diagnosed with an aneurysm in my brain, too deep to remove. So, my parents took our family to Disneyland, we started attending church and II was sent to private school. I regained the use of my left side, I couldn’t participate in sports, tests every year, and medication every day but otherwise life was normal.
Fast forward to my late twenties. A new neurologist, a marriage – he thought I could get pregnant without bursting the aneurism, lots of consults. and now my third baby. Which is when I met someone like myself for the first time. Someone with an aneurysm, who had a baby. She wasn’t lucky like me, she was completely dependent, unable to speak, unable to move – her aneurysm had burst with pregnancy. I was five months pregnant with my last child, and scared to death. I began researching, and found a new surgery – the gamma knife, that could kill the aneurysm. I waited until after my last baby was born and scheduled my mapping appointment.
I had another MRI, I had already had multiple angiograms for mapping in the past, MRI’s, and all manner of tests – some more invasive than others to diagnose the size and location of this beast. I’d seen it on the xrays, lit up with contrast – it would now be eradicated, I was so relieved. After the mapping (it had been ten years since my last mapping) I received a phone call.
The neurosurgeon I had just met called me and said “you must have been misdiagnosed, there’s nothing there”. I sent him my old records, and he was puzzled, and scheduled me for more testing “I dont’ know how I didn’t see that”. After the second round of testing, he called me two days prior to Thanksgiving and said “if you hadn’t sent me the old records, I wouldn’t have known where to look, and I might have missed the small scar that now exists where your aneurysm used to be”. He couldn’t tell me where it went, but he did tell me it was highly unusual, but he had seen it one other time in his history as a neurosurgeon.
I called my mother, my dear mother. All my growing up years, the knowledge that I had this ticking time bomb in my head, knowing it would burst, but not when. She had me prayed for by everyone who would come in my room as a child. She believed for my healing, when I did not, and I begged her to stop bringing people in – they would just show up on our doorstep as a child.
I LOVED being able to share this with my mother that day, there were lots of tears, but it was the best Thanksgiving ever. As the larger family gathered, I was able to tell them the big news. I’ve shared it over and over through the years. It’s gone, I just never thought it wouldn’t be there- I was and still AM amazingly thankful for the time I now have with my family.
My first memorible Holiday was my husbands and my first Christmas together after we were married. He was in the army and we were living in Germany. It all seemed so magical to me, shopping in Rothenberg Germany for Christmas presents to send back home also collecting German ornaments at the Christmas shop. spending a few days going to the Kris Kringles Market where we lived in Nuremberg. Siping Gluhwein & eating Lebkuchen ( my favorite cookie!) and buying a few ormanets.
Our landlord who only spoke german, came to me and told me he was taking me shopping for a Christmas tree. Somehow even though my german wasn’t that great we were still able to comunicate. He and I chose a wonderful tree, we brought it home and he set it up for us. I placed the few ornaments that my husband and I collected and a few candy canes on the tree, it was perfect in my eyes. My husband was so surprised and happy when he came home, to see a Christmas tree in our tiny apartment.
We didn’t much money to spend on each other, on my husband’s Army salary, back in 1980. But the memories were priceless
A Christmas unexpectedly spent at home when we quarantined ourselves after a sick bug. Snow outside, all pressure off, last minute dinner of the best and most expensive convenience foods!
My first Christmas with my husband 30 years ago!
Christmas 1996–my son didn’t wait until January to be born. He was born on the 21st, home on the 23rd, and “stuffed” in a stocking for family pictures on Christmas eve.
i would say the year my son was born(28th). everyone was so excited during the holidays- he came the night everyone left(haha)
The last Christmas before my dad passed away. He was very sick but had a wonderful day and dinner.
2007, the first year we were a little family. My husband would pace the floors at night with our newborn, and the only thing that would stop her crying was to stare at the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree.
One of my most memorable holidays was when my family took a Christmas trip to Disney World when I was about 14. We drove from Michigan and it took about two days with stops. We also were carrying our own real Christmas tree atop our minivan. It was a stitch to wonder what the housekeepers at the resort thought about us. We had a blast that vacation and holiday!
My eldest sons first Christmas, holidays just seemed to have a whole different feel!
Last year because my twins finally understood presents and were so excited!
I’m from Australia so am used to the hot summery Christmas we have there. Although it wasn’t my first winter Christmas, one of the most memorable Christmases was the year I spent with my then-boyfriend’s (now-husband’s) family at their home in France. It was freezing cold and so beautiful. A very special time!
In the nineties i was in Florence(Italy) on Christmas holidays;………… weather was cold , the atmosphere in the restaurants was so warm and you were feeling so welcome….
Right now it is Christmas 2004. We took a surprise trip t my Grandparents and it was the last one with my Grandpa. He was so excited to meet his first Great Grandchild.
My most memorable holiday was Valentine’s Day 1998 it was the day I got engaged. Another one was Christmas 2001 it was the one celebrated after Sept 11 (as my birthday is the day before) and my sister was just out of isolation after having a bone marrow transplant for stage 4 cancer.
This one is shaping up to be pretty special! Our baby’s first Christmas!
I think every holiday is memorable for a different reason. Picking a favorite would be like picking a favorite kid…just can’t do it. I am really appreciative that my kids have had the chance to spend so many holidays with both sets of grandparents. Thanks for the chance to win!
The last year I had with my mother at Christmas was very special. We did everything she wanted to do – midnight carol services, driving out to see the light etc. I will always remember doing that with her.
My most memorable Holiday was a Christmas in the 60′s when one of my younger brothers was about 3 yrs old. We had all the presents at the neighbor’s house and after he went to sleep on Christmas Eve we put everything under the tree so he would have a big surprise on Christmas morning. Needless to say, we were the ones that were surprised. My little brother woke up about 2am and snuck into the living room to check the “tree” and when he saw all the presents he started running through the house and shouting “Santa’s been here, Santa’s been here! Get up, get up!” He woke up everyone in the house and we got up then and there and “celebrated” Christmas. I will never forget the look of utter rapture he had that morning, it still brings a smile to my face and warms my heart!
One of my most memorable Christmas’ was about 21yrs ago when our two kids were very small. Things were very tight fiancially, we had just moved from another state and we hadn’t gotten a Christmas tree yet. It was Christmas Eve and we were coming home from somewhere, I don’t remember from where now. We saw a Christmas tree lot that look like it was closing up. We stopped to see what was left. I think the gentleman felt for us and had some Christmas spirit as he gave us a tree. He wouldn’t even take a few dollars for it. He put a stand on the tree for us and we were on our way. We had very little decorations as we lost almost all our possessions when our UHaul truck rolled when we were moving and that’s a story for another time. hehe. Point is we were all together, safe and had a Christmas tree because of the kindness of a stranger. It was a special night.
Thanks for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

This might be cheating but I am going with THIS Christmas. My reason, I am due with my second child on the 25th :) It is going to be a crazy time of year, in fact it already is…BUT, it will definitely be THE MOST memorable :)
With the joy of the Christmas season, there’s often pain when you’re missing a loved one. I really remember the 1st Christmas after my Dad died in November. I was 8 years old, he had actually gone shopping early that year ~ I got a Cabbage Patch doll. He convinced the store to sell him one early ~ little did anyone know that would be my last present from him. I felt special and loved even though he was gone.
My most memorable Holiday was the Christmas of ’06. It was my son’s first Christmas and it was the first time that I got to play Santa Claus.
Having a broken foot for Christmas is probably my most memorable! Hobbling around trying to decorate was definitely one for the books!
I would say last Christmas because we had my daughter’s both sets of grandparents there to enjoy everything
Enjoying all the Christmas times watching the kids faces; opening gifts. It’s priceless !!!
I didn’t realize it at the time, but the year I got a stuffed dog named Fido comes to mind. Mom bought everything with green stamps that year. ANyone remember those? Times were tough and Christmases were not so commercial and filled up as they are today. One gift and we were thrilled. Sacrifices parents make for their families is awesome!
My most memorable Christmas was the one that my husband and I were newlyweds (and newly pregnant!) My family always did something ‘different’ for Christmas – usually traveling – and this year was no different. We spent Christmas that year at a fancy hotel in Chicago and enjoyed the city for a couple days with my parents. I was 11 weeks pregnant and developed terrible hip pain that weekend that lasted my entire pregnancy. Made for an interesting walking tour of Chicago !
My most memorable holiday was two Christmases ago, when we were awaiting the arrival of my daughter. Eating cookies at 8 months pregnant while everyone else bustled about was so fabulous.
One year when we were little my parents put my name on all my brothers gifts and my name on all of his. They did this because we always figured out what we were getting. Well, this year we couldn’t seem to. On Christmas morning, we found out why, since he opened a Kricut talking doll, and I got a working train set. lol.
I have to go back a ways for this one, and I am not even sure of the year. My oldest brother joined the Air Force right out of High School, and it was several years before he was home for Christmas. He did make home for Christmas just once with all three of his kids. I was a young mom with kids, my other brother was there, my parents were still alive and there was even a set of great grandparents. It was the one time we were all together , so special. It may have been around 1987.
My most memorable holiday was Christmas at my grandparent’s home. She always decorated in ways I’ll never forget almost 30 years later. From the plug in handmade ceramic trees to the endless Christmas themed napkins, plates and gigantic stuffed Santa Claus figures …..I will definitely remember!
My most memorable Christmas would have to be Christmas 2009. I was able to get the time off work and drive down to San Antonio to see my parents, some of my siblings, and my daughter for the holiday. My mother had congestive heart failure and was starting to go down hill, and it was the last Christmas we would have with her.
My favorite Christmas moment is when my sisters, when we were little, would crawl into bed with me and we’d wait until the “reasonable” hour of 6 a.m. to wake mom and dad up to open presents! We’d chat and try not to giggle and creep out into the living room to try and guess what each of us got.
My most memorable holiday this year was Thanksgiving. A relative made the scallopped potatotes with egg nogg- not a good milk substiution. It tasted awful.
Almost 13 years ago on Christmas Eve my daughter was born, we brought her home on Christmas day. That was a great Christmas.
My most memorable holiday was when I took my hubby to Namibia to see where I grew up. Being a city boy he was totally amazed my all the wide open spaces and 4×4′s. It was great fun sharing my memories with him and seeing the “same old, same old” through his eyes :)

Christmas 1991, my baby boy was 3 weeks old. It was my firdt christmas as a mom!!
Definitely the Christmas I spent in London. I missed my family dearly, but I will never forget having the chance to go to the Christmas Eve service at Westminster Abbey!
My most memorable holiday was in WV when we were all together and there were kids again at Christmas…young children make for a great memory!
The first Christmas for my youngest daughter. She’d been a preemie at the hospital for a while and by Christmas she was home and off oxygen. It felt soooooo good to have her there with the rest of the family!
We didn’t have a whole lot growing up, but Dad would always put fruit, nuts and candy under the tree. Back then, we only had one gift. Once I received a beautiful doll. I have wonderful memories of decorating the tree and having a nice Christmas dinner with family.
The Christmas my husband proposed. It was actually a few days after Christmas.
Hard to pick just one, but probably the year my first son was born just two weeks before Christmas. Christmas took on a whole new meaning when I became a mother.
I’d have to say my most memorable was the Christmas we got engaged. We made hand-painted sweatshirts for everyone in our families and it was the first time we really spent the holidays together as a couple
[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ’0 which is not a hashcash value.
I’d have to say my most memorable Christmas was the year we got engaged. We made hand-painted sweatshirts for both our families and it was the first time we really spent the holidays together as a couple.
Most memorable…I’ll have to say last Christmas. It was the most recent! Also, it was my daughter’s first Christmas.
That is easy…there was one Christmas that the kids and I spent at my dad’s house and we were going to be alone (just the kids and I) except that at the last minute my hubby was able to join us…he took the train and it was 24 hrs late but he managed to get in on Christmas Eve…only to find out that there had been a storm and the power was still out so all 4 of us cuddled up in bed eating tuna sandwiches by candlelight…the power came back on through the night and we had a wonderful Christmas day……that was my favorite Christmas.
First christmas with my parents divorced. I got a football. That was all, and I loved it because it meant my mother had to work so hard to provide for everything else.
My most memorable holiday was the first Christmas after my first child was born. That was the first year I felt like I was really a part of my husband’s family. It was a special holiday!
I loved the Christmases when I was growing, but I think that I love the Christmases now because I have a wonderful husband, 3 great kids, and 3 pets. Life is good! Thanks and Happy Holidays!
When we were young and had 2 christmas’s 1 from santa and 1 from Nanny and Poppy.
Christmases when my kids were little and we would cover the living room entry with streamers. Very effective at getting a few extra minutes of sleep!
I think it was the first Christmas that my son had been away at college, and he was coming home for Christmas. i tried to make it all the more special that year to welcome him back.
The Christmas after my Dad’s heart surgery that October was wonderful. We took everything down a notch, didnt’ make everything all hectic in our aspirations of perfection. We just all breathed and took in what the day(s) brought us.
My most memorable holiday is when my husband (back then was my bf) went to meet me in Singapore for the first time (yup, we got to know each other online) and we celebrated Christmas there!! It was so much fun!! Now we are married and have a little boy and our love for each other is growing more and more each day!! :) I’m grateful I met you honey!
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas before I was married. We were married in January, and were planning the wedding too. My mom had a tea for us and it was wonderful. Then for our honeymoon we went to Lake Louise.
All the Christmas mornings were my favorite when my children were little. Seeing their faces on Christmas morning was magic.
They are all special. Always have been, always will be. :)
My most memorable holiday was the Christmas day that my baby sister was born. I was a teenager, and with my parents at the hospital, I was ” Santa” for my younger brothers and sister, and I was the “hostess” when the uncles, aunts, and cousins came for dinner. I felt so grown up.
My most memorable Holiday was when my husband returned from overseas. He got to see his son and be safe at home.
I know these vendors are on other days, but I would remember that I’d seen these lovelies before so I am going to try to win. HEEEREEE GOOOOOES.
