“Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Margaret Wrinkle is a writer, filmmaker, educator, and visual artist now residing in rural New Mexico. Her debut novel, ‘Wash,’ published by Grove/Atlantic in February 2013, reexamines American slavery in ways that challenge contemporary assumptions about history, race, power, and healing. It has been a People magazine pick of the week and one of O Magazine’s ‘Ten Titles to Pick Up Now,’ and it was just named as a finalist for the Flaherty Dunnan First Novel Prize given by the Center for Fiction.
