Vintage Style Wood Crate Pattern

Today’s post is brought to you by the amazingly talented Heather Anderson from Post Road Vintage.  You will have a chance to view just how talented she is with this how-to Vintage Style Wood Crate pattern she has shared with Where Women Create.

“There is nothing yummier then creating something with your own two hands! I never stop getting a thrill from designing new items for my home or shop and making the sawdust fly! This basic vintage style wood crate is the perfect combination of farmhouse beauty + functionality. And best of all, it is fairly easy to make!”

Fabulous Friday with Amy Locurto …

I love designing, especially hosting and decorating birthday parties. Even before I had children, I dreamed of grand parties at home. In 1999, I started my graphic design firm, Atomic Egg, specializing in branding and marketing materials for large corporations. Working for Fortune 500 companies is not always the most fun and creative work!

So the whimsical side of my designs came out at home, especially after having children. I started making special things for their rooms and going crazy with ideas for birthday parties. I even made a barn out of a large cardboard box for my son's first birthday.

My friends thought I was crazy…
and still do most of the time! ha.

In the summer of 2008, I began reading blogs and was wowed by so many talented, creative women. Even though I had no idea what blogging was or how to do it, I knew right away that was what I should be doing! I was no longer the weirdo going overboard with my children's birthday parties or making things for my home from scratch. There were other women out there just like me who needed to get out their creativity each day and were using their talents to reach other women. These were my people!

After about a year of blogging about my creative ideas, the demand for my designs was enough to open a shop. I love inspiring others to do something creative at home with their kids. My printable designs make unique DIY parties super easy.

Birthdays are so special and the memories last forever. I'd love to give a $50 gift certificate to two Where Women Create readers so they can host a fun birthday party and create lasting memories with their family!

Fabulous Friday

Fabfridaynew

This week's FABULOUS Friday Artists are the lovely ladies from

www.joli-paquet.blogspot.com

Joli-Spring-2010-Banner

Joli Paquet is a gathering of artist friends that started in 2009. Cerri Campbell, of Little Pink Studio, started the group to inspire others to create. So with the help of her friends, Brandy, Jeanne, and Cindy, they have turned their little creative blog into a seasonal inspiration place. A place that anyone can visit and be inspired by seasonal free tutorials and tips. They also share their talents in the form of seasonal creative DIY kits that can be purchased. The gals at Joli love to see others being creative and they hope that their little blog will inspire just that…CREATIVITY!

Cerri Campbell of Little Pink Studio

Little Pink Studio Shop

Hello, I’m Cerri Campbell, the founder of Joli Paquet, and the owner of an online boutique The Little Pink Studio. I have a great love of all things vintage, creating, and incorporating vintage items into my creations. I spend most days in my studio shipping orders, creating pretty things, or dreaming up the next kit I want to create. When not in my studio, I love spending time with my husband and two teenage daughters, one of which will be leaving the nest in just a few short months to start her journey in art school.

Being a part of Joli Paquet is wonderful as it brings so many different women together, all with the same love of creating. I love that we continue to offer creative tutorials to inspire our readers as well as affordable seasonal kits!  My hope is that our little community will continue to grow and to nurture the love of creating and sharing.

Brandy Faulkner of Brandywine

Screen shot 2010-04-29 at 8.25.14 PM

My name is Brandy Faulkner. I was born and raised in Texas. I’m a country farm girl at heart but for right now I live in the city of Abilene. I love muted tones, paper, ephemera, glass glitter, and anything to do with natural history. I have been married to my best friend for 5 years. He’s super supportive of my business and hobby even though he totally doesn’t get my “aged, vintage” style. He’s a contractor and just doesn’t know why anyone would want to make new stuff look old!

I have one son and two stepsons. They are part of the reason I started an ETSY shop. You have to be creative coming up with big parties for three boys on a small budget. I would come up with themes and hand make everything. I would get so many complements and people would tell me I should sell the things I made. In May 2007 I opened Brandywine Boutique on ETSY. I have the best most loyal customers that inspire me to create everyday. The motto of my business is “Make Everyday Magic”. I really believe using hand made items can make your families’ day a little more special. And I think every single day should be full of little things that make you happy. My goal is to become a product designer and to do more freelance work.

Jeanne Szewczyk of Dream Create Inspire

Banner 1-2010

My name is Jeanne Szewczyk and my husband and I live in the Midwest – just outside Chicago to be exact.  I was born and raised in this area and although many of our friends have moved away to avoid the cold winters, I find the four seasons and the colors they produce to be a huge source of inspiration for me. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, but my real passion has always been art. I like to dabble in a variety of medias, but always with a vintage touch. I began my art blog, Dream, Create, Inspire, four years ago as a way to connect with other artists who had similar interests as mine. Little did I know back then that I would discover such a wonderful, supportive, world of talented people that would soon become dear friends.

Paper Roses

Not long after that, I opened my Etsy shop called, Collage Art Studio, as a place to sell my original mixed-media artwork, kits and supplies.  And eventually I ended up collaborating with the lovely and talented girls of Joli Paquet to create a place to share tutorials and kits for artists of all levels to enjoy. So in the end, I guess you could say I have gone back to my roots in teaching to “show and tell” others how to make pretty little things to adorn their homes or give as gifts. As the saying goes “everything comes full circle,” and for me this has proven to be very true.

Cindy Gilstrap of Junque Art

Iusb_760x100.6441043

My name is Cindy Gilstrap and I live in McKinney, Texas with my wonderful hubby, 2 kiddos, and 2 dogs. I got started in scrapbooking in the late 90’s when my kids were born. My love of paper evolved into a passion for paper art and mixed media collage art. I love creating and I guess you could say I have an eclectic style. I tend to gravitate towards vintage with an shabby chic and rustic touch.

My creative love turned into an art blog and then into a web shop at JunqueArt.com. I was very flattered when my friend, Cerri, asked me to be a part of Joli Paquet. It is a wonderful gathering of artist friends that want to share their love of creating beautiful things with others. Creating things is “good for the soul” and hopefully we are sharing some of “our soul” with others through our free tutorials and creative seasonal kits. You can also find me teaching mixed media workshops throughout Texas.
