Jennifer Paganelli~Sis Boom

As a designer, Jennifer Paganelli finds inspiration in everything. Sis Boom is the inspiration distilled from several lives: her youth in the Great Lakes region of the US, her adolescence spent in the vibrant Caribbean, her college years in traditional New England, followed by career-building in the clamor of New York City.

Today, she and her company are located in the leafy rolling countryside of the Northeast. It’s here where she takes a breath and gets to work everyday. With unusual artistry and a love of texture and a blend of vivid colors, Jennifer uses everyday inspiration, journaling, collaging, and materials from her past to cultivate new ideas and fabric designs.

Jennifer’s connection to all things vintage, including fabrics, forms the basis of her textile work. She clearly identifies with their strong, saturated and lively color. Here, Jennifer invites you to explore her extraordinary world.

Ecstatic about her most recent project, Girl’s World, Jennifer has found a way to let you into a magical world that she herself wishes every little girl can be a part of. Vibrant, happy, sweet, and saturated with all things textured, sparkly and girly, this sewing book is chock-full of 21 projects for little girls. What a treat!

Fabulous Friday with Fabrique …

FF_Master

This week we're doing something a little different. Since we are giving away a sewing related prize on Wednesday Wisdom, our friends at Making Memories were nice enough to give us a Fabrique to give away for Fabulous Friday! I personally have used this little machine and I love it! As a matter of fact, the quilt I made for them for Fall Quilt Market is sitting right under the mat in this picture :

Picture 8

I also created a few pillows, a fabric banner and some canvas wall hangings. I even added some Fabrique flowers when I made one of Anj's owls! If you sew or do any kind of decorating with fabric you MUST have this machine!

So … What IS the Fabrique?

Picture 7

The Slice Fabrique is the first fabric-cutting tool of its kind, making appliqué quilting easier. Not only is it the perfect tool for creating quilts, but it can also be used to customize clothing, home décor, and more.

Fabrique

How does it work?

To use the Slice Fabrique, first, apply a repositionable adhesive to a special tempered glass mat and iron on the Slice Fusible Web to the fabric of your choice. Next, follow the simple three-step Select It, Size It, Slice process. Select the shape you wish to cut, Size the die-cut shape, and finally press the "Start" button to Slice it. The Slice Fabrique works with design cards that are created specifically for fabric use allowing you to cut numbers, flowers, icons, and basic shapes, just to name a few.

Fabrique-designs-img

Each design card includes popular appliqué design options along with intricate options to provide inspiration for every type of project imaginable. The possibilities are endless with over 850 design shapes to choose from. Some of the design cards also have a layering feature, which allows you to piece die-cuts together for larger projects. Making Memories is also teaming up with some amazing fabric designers such as Joanna Figueroa, Sandi Henderson, Barry J. Ackerman, and more to create special design cards that complement their fabric designs. You no longer have to spend all of your time cutting intricate shapes with scissors and if you've ever done that, you¹ll understand exactly how time consuming that can be. Instead, let the Slice Fabrique do all the work for you.

Yes, I am the girl who "Loves her Fabrique" at the end of the video …

"Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. I wait with anticipation all year long for the smell of fresh cut Christmas trees, delicious homemade cookies and all of the special events and parties that come with celebrating the season. My favorite Christmas tradition of course is spending Christmas morning with my family. I look forward to waking up and going over to my mom's in our Christmas pajamas for delicious cinnamon rolls and mimosas while opening our Christmas stockings from Santa.  This is how we've celebrated Christmas morning ever since I can remember and I can't wait to share this tradition with my own family."

Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

1. Choose a design from the Fa La La design card.

2.Cut your design three times (same size and same shape).

TIP: Cut the designs from multiple pieces of patterned paper

3. Lightly fold the shape in half.

4. Glue two shapes together (glue from the outside only until the fold) to make ornament.

5. Apply adhesive to the third shape and apply to the ornament.

Serena shares …

"Our family has many holiday traditions and they're definitely what makes Christmas so special for me and my family.  One of our favorite traditions is listening to an old-time radio show called, The Cinnamon Bear, beginning November 29th and then every night leading up to Christmas.  I've been listening to the radio show ever since I was a young girl and our children now enjoy it as much as I always have.  I love that we can all snuggle up together and just listen to the classic stories.  The pictures are all in our own imaginations.  The nightly stories can be found online and can be listened to for free.  Here is the link:  http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/cinnamonbear.htm  I hope you enjoy them as much as our family does."
