Bamboletta Dolls

Bamboletta means little doll in Italian and is a term of endearment that parents use for their children.

This was my father’s nickname for me throughout my childhood.

We take great pride and care to use only the finest materials available to me in making these dolls. I use a wonderful thick cotton interlock from the Netherlands for their ‘skin’. I have tried many, many fabrics out there and this is by far the most superior in quality. It hardly pills, it retains its shape and it is oh so soft. I know it may seem a bit excessive to be going on and on about my doll fabric, but it really is fantastic. The wool I use is sourced right here in Canada from farms that treat their animals very well and use gentle and eco friendly methods in the cleaning and carding of the wool. The next step in the dolls is their hair. I am a self proclaimed yarn addict. I love nothing better then to rummage through yarn shops to find new and interesting yarns for my dolls hair. I have my own source of gorgeous handspun, handdyed yarn that I use in some of my dolls create a unique and special look. I most often mix several types of yarns together to create a natural and funky look – highlights and all! There is a practical reason for my mixing as well, the dolls hair can withstand much more handling. If just a soft yarn or mohair is used alone the hair tends to matte.

I have wonderful, amazing people working with me making each Bamboletta special and unique. Without them this wouldn’t be happening! There are now 16 of us sewing and knitting – creating dolls with much love – usually with our own little ones running around at our feet! One of our goals is to be able to provide as many moms with work and paying them well for work that requires dedication and a very calloused thumb! We work out of a studio in Vancouver Island in a little town called Cobble Hill.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Cerri Campbell~Little Pink Studio

Once upon a time there was a little girl that loved to collect treasures. Not just any treasures though, she loved to collect empty make up bottles and samples! Before long this little girl decided to set up shop selling her treasures to all of the other neighborhood little girls. Unfortunately, the other Mommy’s did not approve of their daughters raiding their piggy banks for “junk”, and alas, her store was forced to close.

However this sparked a dream in the little girl to someday have her very own shop where she could have all sorts of lovely things.

My name is Cerri Campbell and I’m that little girl. I have dreamed of having my own store most of my life.

Every item I have offered here as been lovingly selected by me for you and the girls in our neighborhood.

My dream is that you will find lovely little things here to inspire you in your creations and collections.

The Cottage Mama

Hi, my name is Lindsay from The Cottage Home!  I am a stay-at-home Mom raising three children under the age of four (two girls and a baby boy) and I am married to my high school sweetheart.  I am living the dream in total domestic bliss and, yes, I doreally live in a cottage.   I started The Cottage Home blog back in October 2009 due to much encouragement from my friends.  I wasn’t exactly quite sure what this blog would be about or where it might take me.  All I knew was that I wanted to share my ideas, thoughts, and knowledge with others.  So here I am and I think the title says it best – Cooking. Sewing. Crafting. And All Things Domestic.  In a nutshell, that’s what you’ll find here on The Cottage Home

Family is central to my life and it is through the items I create that I show them my love.  I believe in the handmade lifestyle, whether I am creating clothing for my children, a nice home for us to live in, or delicious food to fill our bellies – it is through creating where I feel most at home.  I am trying to instill this way of living in my children and hope to inspire others to do the same. In addition to The Cottage Home blog, I own an online boutique clothing store called The Cottage Mama.  Through The Cottage Mama I sell unique, one-of-a-kind handmade children’s apparel and accessories.  Most of my sewing takes place during naptime or in the evenings, but every so often I get lucky and get a little sewing time during the day. Most recently I have launched a line of children’s sewing patterns (see below) that are also available for purchase through my etsy shop.   There will be many more released in the next year, so check back for new designs. It takes a lot of time, energy, planning and patience to balance being a mommy, wife, small business owner and blogger, but I love it all and couldn’t be happier!  Thank you so much for joining me in my little corner of the world.  I hope you like what you see and if you feel like it, leave me a comment – I’d love to get to know you too!

Check out The Cottage Mama Studio here.

As a lifelong creative-type I've always believed that if we keep our eyes and ears open, life will constantly whisper hints to us about where to go next. What's coming up. Who we are meant to become. I always had a feeling that I would take an unconventional career path, and in my second year of college in 2005 I started down the road that would take me through obstacles, triumphs, into amazing opportunities and lifelong friendships as an entrepreneur. I founded Princess Lasertron in 2005 when I designed the first felt and button bridal bouquets that took the wedding industry by storm. In six years, I have grown my business into a three-person company serving over 250 brides each year and we have expanded into kit and project design, a line of party dresses, consulting, speaking, and teaching all over the country.

By keeping myself open to new interests and opportunities rather than following a cut-and-dried business plan, I've seen my business grow very organically, entering into new arenas when the time was right.

Two years ago I met a small group of friends who liked to work at night like me, and we met throughout the week at 24-hour coffee shops, pancake houses, and greasy spoons all over Omaha. We talked about our projects, our problems, and benefited from each other's diverse expertise and experience. It was also during this period that I became pregnant with my first baby, and the path of growth my business was taking made it necessary to hire my first employee. The way all of these factors coincided so magically and perfectly was a sign–my family was growing, my business was growing, my relationships in the community were growing and I needed to make a move. Over the next six months I searched throughout Omaha for the perfect space to start a shared creative studio. I visualized a huge open room in an industrial warehouse full of history and character. I visualized coming to work every day and being surrounded by a supportive team of passionate people who loved their jobs as much as I did. Where ideas could be born, and where people could gather to pursue their goals. When was invited to an open house party at a friend's new office in a remote part of downtown Omaha, I fell in love with the gigantic empty warehouse and suddenly realized I was in the space. Three months later after a buildout process, we opened the doors of CAMP, Omaha's first coworking space and our full-time studio for Princess Lasertron. We are coming up on our first anniversary at CAMP and I could not be more proud of taking that risk not only because of how it allowed my business to grow and flourish, but because of what we were able to provide for other local entrepreneurs and organizations.

As my work has evolved and my Princess Lasertron has grown, I've been getting more diverse opportunities like teaching at this year's TCC Event! Participating in events like THE CREATIVE CONNECTION are a dream come true for me and I can't wait for this chance to connect in-person with my readers and customers who have been with me for so many years, and meet new friends from far and wide! In my classes, Alice's Marvelous Monogrammed Prize Ribbon and our Signature Felt Flower Headband session, you will learn some of my favorite techniques that we use every day with our bridal clients.

If you're looking for some pregame before the TCC crafty weekend getaway, I would love for you to join me in my first online class through Rick Rack where I will be teaching how to create a birdcage veil with beautiful French netting and the embroidered felt flowers we are best known for. Registration is open through June 20 and the class starts on June 22 and runs for a month. This class is my first foray into online teaching so you won't want to miss it. How many times will I accidentally swear?

When you register for the class you will have access to a video tutorial of me teaching my Felt Flower Fascinator Headband project that you can fast foward, rewind, restart, and watch over and over again as much as you want. You will also receive a .pdf of instructions and a list of class materials which I am also selling as a kit in my shop once the class begins. You’ll learn how to make felt flowers and leaves, how to free motion sew, hand embroidery techniques, how to fringe, how to create a birdcage veil, how we embellish with buttons and some other general sewing tips. I think you’ll like working with the pretty French lace netting too. So sign up, and order a kit! You never know what other goodies I'll throw in there for you.
