One of my very favorite treasures is a gorgeous cross-stitch with a bride getting ready for her wedding! It took my mother one year to create and she gave it to me on my wedding day. Definitely would run right for it if there was ever a fire!!

    Deb Kennedy @ Retreat says:

top bears all of the marks and writing ‘scars’ of my childrens’ homework, letters, cards, and art projects over the past 24 years. They are all grown now, married with families of their own, but when I look at that table (which now has new legs made from old fenceposts!) I see all of the times they sat there as children. I hear the laughter and see the messes! It is the centerpiece of all of our family gatherings, and holds a special place in my heart.

??? The first part of my post disappeared! It’s my dining room table that my husband built for me…

    Sivje Parish says:

I agree with Deb. My dining table top is precious to me. My hubby talked about refinishing it, to remove all the sharpie marks, glitter, dings, and scrapes, but I vehemently objected. I can always cover it with a tablecloth. But those marks and scrapes represent hours spent at that table with my family, creating, eating, counseling and dreaming. As my oldest daughter is now on her own, I think of her, at dinner, when her “spot” is empty. I see the indentations from her angry scribbles over a confusing math question. And I see the marks left from addressing all those thank you notes. Glitter is stuck all over that table because of my youngest daughter’s passion for the stuff. My table top is precious to me.

my baby pillow, it is simply now just two pieces of the softest cotton fabric still sewn together but the filling has disappeared years ago. I still display it in my studio for comfort and security. I really think it is the reason I love vintage and tattered fabrics in my art.
It reminds me of my most treasured item in life.

    Liz says:

My Grandmother Sadie’s vintage Lord & Taylor fur coat~ given to me as a special gift when I turned twenty-five. Every time I wear it, I’m overwhelmed with wonderful childhood memories of falling asleep on her arm while she wore it. The coat is a reminder of the Beautiful & Strong woman she always was, and still is- even though she has given up the heirloom & the numerous of pairs of high-heels she had to go with it.

    Hobby Parent says:

I have a cracker jack ring that my daughter gave me when she was a wee little thing. She put a tag on it that says “Mommy size”. Its one of my treasures.

    Cari Bruno says:

My 4 children are my only true treasures except that I don’t own them.
One of my favorite posessions is a tiny set of girls cut glass cups. I love to hang them from ribbons in one of my trees in the sunshine so that they’ll turn even more purple.
    Thanks for asking,
    Have a lovely day

I treasure my memories of my grandparents. My sister and I got to live with them while we worked summer jobs for college. We got to know them as adults, and I treasure that time together. I can still hear my grandpa saying ,’Hellooooo baby!’ when he came home.

    Carol Walcott says:

When my children were growing up, I wrote a lot of letters to my mother-in-law regaling her with the adventures and misadventures of her 3 grandchildren. Years later she presented me with a small bag of the letters I wrote. Both my children, their children and I love to re-read them. What treasures!

    Lee Ann L. says:

I save little things… that remind me of the people that gave them to me… For example, I have 1922 coin that a very good friend of my Grandma gave to me upon graduating from High School years ago… I saved letters written to me from a Missionary years ago… I saved an note by a man I highly respected. I saved a tiny little book my Mother gave me… I saved tons of sharks teeth found on beaches throughout my childhood and adulthood…
These little treasures are stored in two tiny little Lang cedar chests that were once given away to graduates from high school. Speaking of which, I collect those cute litte chests. :-)

    Dori says:

One of my favorite little treasures is an amethyst topped silver thimble which belonged to my grandmother. The thimble was given to her by her sister, and was supposed to have been engraved with her initial, but never was. I am named after Grandma, and am now having the thimble engraved…for both of us. :)

    Peggy Raymer says:

Years ago when my mom would make my lunch she would write little notes on the bag. I cut them out and saved them. They are 25 years old or more ,

i treasure who i am…and how i am able to share it with others

    abby says:

One of my favorite treasures is my vintage dressform (Emma). I had always desired to have one but their price range was always way out of my league. One night I checked Ebay (again) just to see what was out there and there she was…pick up only and about an hour away from where I live. I was the only bidder and hubby and I took a scenic drive to pick her up. I’m certain that it was destiny since I could never have afforded to buy her otherwise.

Napoleon sure was a wise man when he uttered those words. The possession I most treasure is my daughter. Although I don’t “own” her, she is in my life and I adore her. She constantly has my back and would do anything for me (and I, for her!)

    Joyce says:

I don’t think I have a physical item that is as improtant as my family especially my husband.

  22. 22
    Peggy says:

Mine would be my dads wedding band that my mom gave me after he passed away.

  23. 23
    Niki From Stitchin' Heaven says:

It’s a newly treasured treasure, but last May my father passed away…My step mother had given me an old quilt that my grandmother had made in the 50′s from feed sacks. Not until she handed me that quilt did I know quilting was in our family. I work at Stitchin’ Heaven , but before that I never used a sewing machine nor quilted anything. So now that I have an appreciation and understanding for quilting, I treasure that quilt dearly!

I treasure a hand tied throw made by my great grandmother and her sister. I have had it for several years and with this cold damp weather my husband lay it across the bottom of our bed and use it when we sit together watching television. It makes me think of family here and gone.
