Beki Hastings~The Rusted Chain
Beki Hastings began making custom jewelry in 2003. Since that time, her products have been featured in various magazines, Pediped shoe advertisements, Law and Order Criminal Intent, and are sold in local upscale boutiques and internationally.
She now has a small team that works to create jewelry. Her designs feature the best of rustic elegance and trendy looks, with the end result being quality jewelry that will look as new and fresh years from now as it does today. Each piece is custom made using sterling silver, stainless steel, natural stones, and the finest components.
Beki is also a photographer and blogger. She lives in an old farmhouse in Kansas with her husband, and her three children, a daughter, aged 11, and two sons ages 9 and 4. A former flight attendant, Beki is truly enjoying being home with her children. Being a designer is, she says, the best way for her to remain home with her family and still have a creative outlet.

Elea Lutz~Nostalgia Organics
Hello! My name is Elea Lutz and I’m the designer behind the playful toiletries and giftware company, Nostalgia, located in Arizona. My love for art and design began as a child. I was often found drawing on scraps of paper, sewing doll clothes or making gifts for love ones. Even as an adult, I still have my hand in some type of creative medium almost daily.
I started creating organic skincare remedies during my first pregnancy. And, with that inner artist always emerging, I would store my mixtures in decorative bottles and papers I designed myself. Nostalgia was ultimately born and the journey has resulted in so many unexpected opportunities.
One new project I’ve been working on comes from the whimsical packaging prints I designed for the Nostalgia toiletries line. After taking on a life of their own, I’m excited to now offer the designs on 100% cotton fabric and recycled gift papers.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this creative community and share some of my new collection with you.

Kim Stoegbauer~The TomKat Studio
In December 2008, Kim decided to leave her career in real estate to stay home with her young kids, Tommy & Kate. Always crafty and creative, she started a blog to share her craft projects, decorating and party ideas. She had recently decided to convert a room in her home to a craft “studio” and came up with the blog name “TomKat Studio” from the combination of her kids’ names. Kim’s blog quickly gained a loyal following and readers were asking if they could buy things that she was making, including hand-decorated frames and invitations. On a whim, she decided to open an Etsy shop. Within weeks she was overwhelmed with orders. Her daughter, Kate’s lollipop birthday party was featured on a very popular party blog, Hostess with the Mostess in April 2009 and the demand for her creations soared. Not being able to keep up with the demand, she closed up shop that summer and took a short break. She came back and reopened as a printable party shop.
Her designs have fueled the printable party trend. Her talents have expanded into photo and party styling, which she enjoys immensely. She frequently styles photo shoots for HGTV and other brands. She recently met her idol, Martha Stewart and was giddy with excitement. Her business has grown very quickly and she pinches herself daily to be sure this is really happening!
Through the blog, Facebook and Twitter, Kim connects with her readers and fans. It is her goal that she and her fabulous staff answer every email, inquiry and question that comes in.Kim loves nothing more than helping spread the word about other women/mom owned businesses with amazing products. Her weekly giveaways and features have helped catapult many businesses.
Kim loves pink, ruffles and all things pretty. She is a perfectionist, night owl and a teeny bopper at heart. She loves sweets, the Twilight series and is still a big fan of New Kids on the Block.
Kim’s work has been featured on MarthaStewart.com, Martha’s Dreamers in to Doers site, HGTV.com, Sonoran Living Live, ABC15 Arizona Morning and featured in publications such as Celebrate Magazine, Parenting Magazine, InStyle Magazine, 202 Magazine, The Arizona Republic and Go Gilbert Magazine. She is a weekly contributor for the HGTV Blog, Design Happens. She also writes for Project Nursery and HomeGoods.
Kim lives in Chandler, Arizona with her wonderful husband, Danny, their two sweet children Tommy {6} & Kate {4} and their chihuahua, Bentlie.

What is your favorite handmade gift that you’ve received?
Thanks so much to our FOUR FABULOUS artists!
~We’ll see you tomorrow~
My favorite Handmade gift would be anything knitted by my mom, she is an amazing knitter and I love every piece she has ever made me!!
I just hung ornaments on the tree last night – I treasure the ornaments my now 23 & 19 year olds made when they were little, especially the ones from Sunday School!!!
one year, i think it was for my birthday, my mom knit me a hoodie. she’d just caught on to the fact that hoodies were totally “in”. but she used a really small pattern and just doubled it… all of it… the hood is massive!!!
My favorite is a very mini quilt made by my live when we were snowed in one day and he was bored.
Sorry, something happened when I tried to comment.
More to love! Thank you. This has been a lot of fun.
My mother makes jewelry ~gorgeous pieces~ and I can think of any necklace, bracelet, or earrings that she has gifted me and call it a favorite. I am a lucky woman.
i don’t remember receiving it, but one of my mom’s friends made me a crocheted afghan when i was a baby. it’s yellow and white, and it’s still my nap blanket. it’s definitely too small, but it’s just very comforting.
Best handmade gift ever received is a Christmas wall hanging my friend paper pieced and hand bound and gave to me last year. It was a lot of work for her.
Best handmade gift was a gorgeous wedding afghan. Still love it and use it after 24 years!
A dear family friend who was one of the handiest people I know, gave me a small blue velvet heart shaped pin cushion, with hand-embroidered flowers one year. Even though I don’t sew much, I’ve always loved it. I use it to display vintage brooches, and it hangs from the handle of my dresser. It’s also lovely reminder of this wonderful woman who is no longer with us.
My favorite handmade gift I have ever received is a Teddy Bear my mother made when I was a very little girl, maybe 7 years old. I still have that Teddy Bear.
My favorite gifts are the quilts my grandmother made!
I would have to say the gifts my son made me when he was little.
My best friend made me a quilt and I will treasure it always…thanks again Jo and all the lovely artists that are featured. We heart all of you!
My favorite homemade gift would have to be the large quilt my mom made for me that is on my bed. Keeps me warm and cozy at night!
Handmade ornaments! I have ornaments from my childhood made by my great aunts, great grandmother and grandmother and now am adding to them with all the lovely handmade ornaments from my kids! It’s a beautiful tree! :)
Thanks for the fun! Another GREAT line up!
About 13 years ago, I went to a small town high up in the Andes Mountains of Argentina to work with a shepherding community. I got to know these 2 women very well whose husbands were shepherds. They gave me a knitted hat that they had made from the wool of the sheep that their husbands tended. Probably the coolest gift I’ve EVER received!
A friend of my mother’s made hand knitted Christmas stockings for my children with their names knitted in – still really special after all these years.
The Christmas Quilt from my Momma made when she could still see. PRICELESS!
oh my goodness gracious. I hope Santa brings me this awesome giveaway this holiday season. I could eat this one up.
My favorite handmade gift I ever received was a set of crochet puppies that my mother made for my brother/sister and I. My parents always did their best to provide for us and one year funds were tight so my Mom spent long hours making us the best Christmas ever. I still have all 3 puppies and her crochet bear from the following Valentine’s day. My girls are now playing with these puppies and they are atleast 30 years old. Handmade gifts are more than gifts , they are treasures that last a lifetime. (I wish i could upload the photo fo these puppies here to share with you all, they are darling)
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. Happy Holidays and many blessings
My favorite handmade gift is anything that my kids make!! Especially the ornaments for the tree and they love to hang them!
My daughter has knit scarves for me, which I treasure.
So hard to choose… The first things that comes to mind this morning (since I have thread-on-the-brain) are the beautiful crochet doilies my mother-in-law gave us on her last visit from Sweden. During her stay, we watched the doilies grow before our very eyes, marveling at her speed and skill– and when they were done, she told us they were gifts for us. :)
My mom crocheted me a filet crochet table cloth for my formal dining room table. It is huge and gorgeous. I could make one, but doing so would have taken me years.. She can crochet in her sleep.. she is fantastic!
A wrapped box filled with “hugs” from my daughter. It was her K-5 Christmas project.
My sister made us an absolutely gorgeous queen size quilt 2 years ago for Christmas. We were thrilled and amazed when we opened the package. Thanks for the chance to win.
Recently I received a wallhanging from Hadley at Flying Blind on A Rocket Cycle. It is an owl and I love Owls. I adore that quilt!
My favorite handmade gift was a blue afghan that my 85 year old mother made! She doesn’t crochet anymore, so it especially precious to me. Thanks for the giveaway.
Linda
My favorite handmade gift that I have received is a framed drawing the my mother did of me when I was a little girl. She gave it to me when I was in my 20s, and I love it. Oh, and now that I’ve had a baby I have gotten so many beautiful baby quilts that people made for her, and I love each and every one of them so much!
What a great day this is, thank you ladies one and all. If I had to pick one it would be my Postage Stamp Table Cover made by my late Grandmother. I just love to look at all her stitches so tiny so perfect and so much of her love is in it. Thank you for asking a great question and I enjoyed reading everyones answers as well. Kim
A Chinese painting that my aunt had made for my mom, and has been passed down.
Oh my, that’s a hard one – I come from a family of crafters but I have to say anything my mom made me from sweatshirts with windowpane effect in them or knitted things or plastic canvas. My mom is now gone and how I miss the Christmas tree anticipation of what she made for me each year!!!! But I savor each and everything she did make me and am able to hand down to my daughters that same tradition!!!!!
My mom made me a hand-quilted quilt for my high school graduation. Love all those pinks! It is very special to me. Merry Christmas!
My favorite is a knit shrug my best friend made me to wear at my wedding! Hard to beat that. :)
I received my Great Grandmothers handmade apron. It is Fabulous…
Thanks,
Lori
best handmade gifts are the cards my kids have made for me over the years. I’ve saved them all!
My favorite handmade gift is a quilt that my grandma made. She used my favorite color, yellow and it is so bright and cheery it goes on my bed right after Christmas to get me through the rest of the winter until spring gets here!
I received my Great Grandmother’s handmade apron. It is Fabulous. The fabric is an old Christmas print. I love it!
Thanks,
Lori
My favorite is the quilt on my bed that my mom made for me in soothing colors of green and off-white.
Before she passed away, my Grandmother crocheted a large blanket for me, it’s always been my favorite.
My favorite handmade gifts that I received for Christmas has to be ornaments and a nativity set. That my sons made for me when they were in grade school. Each year that I pull them out to place on the tree and around my home. They give me wonderful cherished memories of when my son’s were growing up. To me there is no better gift, then a gift from the heart of a child
I would have to say that my favourite handmade gift that I have received would have to be the handmade Christmas cards that I received from my kids every year. I save every one of them. My oldest daughter, Kiara, is now 19 and enrolled at University studying Fine Art and my 13 year old, Kassidy, is a budding photographer. I am so proud of them!
Susan says…
My favorite hand made gift that I have received has to be the ornaments that my daughter made when she was a little girl in elementary school and Sunday school. They are hanging on the Christmas tree as I write this. They are precious to me.
My husband made me a shadow box with a cross and lyrics to a hymn one year- a homemade gift on a year we did NOT have any money, it was very special!
On my 30th birthday my mother made me a beautiful afghan that was made with my favorite colors, purple, lime green, and white! I have had it for 17 years now and my mother has passed and I use it daily! Its a wonderful reminder of the love we shared as mother and daughter!
I have a few that my children have made me from elementary school. Those are the best when they make them at school and then they try their hardest to keep it a secret until Christmas. I have gotten a snowman inch meter, candles, bath soap, just to name a few. Can’t wait to see what I get this year.
I can’t recall having been gifted handmade things, only gifting them as a child and after a long hiatus now again as an adult. I do know that my aunt knitted baby clothing for me, though, which I later used for my doll but none of it has survived. I always appreciate handwritten cards but some of the best gifts have been things that have enabled me to gift handmade presents to others; fabric, yarn, gift cards for material. :)
My favorite handmade gift is a punch tin picture that my friend made me a long time ago (her husband even made the frame) with our married year and our last name on it.
My favorite handmade gift that I have received is a painting of my daughter….It was so sweet. : )
This answer is the same as my favorite gift & that was a funny scrapbook made by my mom talking about different ways to use the money included in the pages. Super cute & personal.
A plaque with my name on it! :)
Unknown to each other, one year my sisters and I made scarfs for everyone. We all got a laugh out of it, but it was sweet to have something my sisters made for me.
Handmade gifts are truly the best! I love to make special gifts in between the retail purchases and they always seem to get the best response. My favorite handmade gift is from my husband’s Grandma, Frances. At the time, she was about 91 and living in an assisted living building where her main goal was to quilt and “help take care of the elderly”. :)
On one of our visits, we got to go shop for fabric, which was sold at the front of the feed store, as she had asked what kind of quilt I wanted. We purchased Santa fabric and Snowman fabric, and some filler fabric. We then headed to the local “5 and dime” and purchased batting and thread.
Within about three months of our trip, I received a box from Grandma, with not one, but two beautiful Christmas quilts. A Santa quilt and a Snowman quilt. Grandma had pieced it and marked it, sent it to the local quilter to machine quilt it, and then Grandma finished the binding. You can imagine what an amazing gift and moment that was! She passed away at 97!
I get to use those quilts every Christmas and tell my story! Thanks so much for letting me share it with you! Merry Christmas!
Wow the gifts just keep getting better! What a great giveaway! My favorite handmade gifts always come from my husband…no, he does not make them….but he knows which artists I love. He bought me a beautiful handmade leather purse from a shop here in Brussels. It is a great shop owned by a husband and wife. They make most of the items (leather goods, jewelry, hats, scarves, etc…) they sell. They also feature many other artists. Thanks for asking!
When my husband and I were married, my grandmother gave us a handmade quilt as our first Christmas gift.
[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ’0 which is not a hashcash value.
The knitted house shoes that my grandma made for me are my favorite handmade gift along with the crochet afghan that my mom made me. I still treasure these.
What beautiful gifts each day! I don’t know if I have ONE favorite handmade gift, but this time of year, I love looking at my Christmas tree and seeing all the ornaments which were hand made by friends. Handmade gifts are definitely my favorite.
The quilt my Mammaw made with her Mom. It’s probably pushing 70 years old (at least) but I still snuggle under it with my kids!
Do kids’ gifts count? A few years ago my son Sam (who is wizard with paper, scissors and tape) made cubes for me and my husband. On one side he Simpsonized us – drawing us with great Homer & Marge features, on another he wrote a message in code we had to figure out, on another he listed our top ten favorite things, on another he included a pic of him with us, on the fifth one he drew abstract art and on the 6th he made a giant ‘to/from’ tag.
Hand drawn cards from my beautiful talented neice Kiera, age 6. I will keep them forever and its just been a joy to see her artwork change.
When I was little, maybe 8 or 9, my mom and her best friend redecorated my room (without me knowing!), including a quilt with hand stenciling on it. I loved that quilt so much!
My favourite handmade gift is a little purple polka dot coaster with a button detail that my daughter made for me. It’s her first ever sewing project and she made it for Mommy’s birthday. =)
I treasure anything my children have made! I also treasure needlework my friend and Mother in Law have so carefully and lovingly created!
My favourite handmade item that I’ve received is a cross-stitched Christmas stocking that my mom made! It’s gorgeous!
My precious husband made me a 3/8″ frame to use when I roll out sugar cookie dough. I know this sounds crazy but it is AWESOME. I bake and decorate cookies and this is such a time saver and it makes sure all my cookies are the same thickness. Such a precious man to come up with this idea..
My Mum used to make alot of my clothes when we lived in Africa in the seventies out of old clothes, including one dress out of her wedding dress, but my favourite of all time was the costume she made me for the school’s fancy dress competition :-) I wanted to go as Cinderella & so my Mum said ” No problem, I’ve got lots of scraps of fabric, you can go as the maid Cinderella” but me, being the stroppy kid that we all are at 8, stamped my foot until she gave in. I wanted to be a Princess :-) The problem was, that there was nowhere she could buy fabric for that kind of outfit in the middle of Zambia & so she made me the most amazing costume out of crepe paper & sticky tape, which she had to keep re-applying all day, as it kept melting in the baking hot middle of the African afternoon sun :-) She did me proud & I’ll never forget the effort & hard work & love that went into getting me 1st place :-) I’ve put a link to my FB page as it is currently my profile pic & you can see for yourselves…suffice to say, once it came off, it was gone forever :-(
https://www.facebook.com/MaitresseBunny
I recieved a beautiful handmade angel ornament for Christmas from a friend at work.
My favourite handmade gift was a beautiful sweater my sister knit for me years ago. I’ve never learned to knit and always marvel at the gorgeous things knitters create. Just knowing that she took that much time to knit me that perfect sweater warms my heart.
My Grandaughter and her friend made me a winter scene with colored clay. They were young(about 10 years old).It sits in my display cabinet. It brings back a lot of memories.Of course all of the handmade cards and pictures with the handprints, photos, and their writing are very dear to me .The Christmas ornaments that their hands made are all carefully packed with the bought ornaments. They are irreplaceable. These things t were made by my children and granddaughter and grandsons. Wishes for a very Merry Christmas to everyone.
My favorite handmade gift was a pottery mask my daughter made me in the 5th grade. I love & collect masks and she wanted to add to my collection. It is the most precious gift I have ever received.
Lovely giveaways! The most favorite handmade item I’ve ever received was a square shaped bowl my husband turned on the lathe! He surprised me and that is hard to do! :-) Thanks!
The best handmade gift that I’ve received is my Mom hand sewing my daughter’s Christmas stocking. My paternal Grandma used to make elaborate Christmas stockings for each of the grandkids and my Mom has now taken over that tradition since my Grandma died and is making them for HER grandkids! My poor kids/grandkids won’t be getting anything that special from me b/c I can’t sew worth a lick. :(
My SIL made me a quilt soon after she learned who to quilt. It is not perfect but love it anyways. It has been so well used that it is starting to fall apart! :(
I love the fabric combo in the pillow. Christmas colors have changed so much, since I was a little girl, by being light, creative and yet retain some of the traditional significance.
My grandmother gave me a handmade Raggedy Ann doll when I was 8. It was almost life size. I wish I still had it.
I received a recipe holder from my young stepson. It consisted of a plastic cap from a spray can filled with plaster of paris. The card holder was a clothes pin with a yellow plastic flower on it. I still have it, and he is now in his 40′s. Little things mean a lot!
My favorite handmade gift has to be the ones that my kids have done. They always come up with something cute each year for mommy. Sometimes they are made of craft sticks and pipe cleaners but they sure are cute. Good Luck all.
Melissa
Favorite handmade gift… would be my granddaughter’s rope and toilet paper tube snake that lives on my book case. Or maybe the handmade pottery from my kids’ grade school years… I do love handmade gifts from adults, too, but those little hands making special gifts for mommies, daddies, and grammas are so special! ☆¨(✿◠‿◠)❀♫❤ ☼ ☯~Hobby
The Christmas ornaments my children have made me when they were young. I hang them on our tree, even if the theme of the tree does not match the ornament ;-) It’s a simple thing but close to my heart.
I am so fortunate to have many handmade things made by those I love.
The year my son was born, my aunt came up for christmas and presented me with a beautiful sweater that she had knitted. She had never made anything for me and I was so touched! I still treasure that sweater and my son is now 20!
I feel like my aunt is still here giving me a hug when I wear it!
Happy Holidays! karen…
My favorite handmade gift is a bead crocheted bracelet my daughter gave me for my birthday :)
It was a handmade quilted table runner from a family friend.
One year my son made some pottery in art class at school—he wrapped it himself and gave it to me for Christmas!
Yeah—-Definately my favorite ever!—It is one of my Treasures for sure
Hand made gifts are the best having 4 little ones you love them even more. One of my favorite hand made gifts was the huge wal drawing my kids made for me:)
For sure a baby blanket for my child knitted by my mother. I guess it was really for him, not for me, but seeing him swaddled and now carrying that blanket everywhere warms my heart.
I am enjoying all the wonderful ladies and there businesses-thank you for sharing so many.
My favorite gift I received was a scrapbook my DIL made for me before she married my son…they live 1600 miles away and wanted me to share in their daily lives.
She did pictures of their lives : where they lived what they drove their pets(you get the idea) then she showed their lives together and shared pictures of them when they were little at the same ages.
I cried like a baby when i opened each page-it was the most touching present and still is one year later.
My favorite handmade gift was an ornament my sister-in-law made for my daughter’s first Christmas. It’s pink and frilly and hand painted. I still use it on my tree every year.
A scarf my mom knitted me.
My favorite handmade gift would have to be the quilt that my (then future) mother-in-law made me when I visited her family for the first time. I was very nervous about meeting my future in-laws, but she made me feel very welcomed and took the time to make me this beautiful quilt. I have to say, that receiving that quilt turned me towards quilting, and I couldn’t be more grateful to her for that.
My mom made all my clothes when I was growing up and she managed to make special outfits for Christmas and birthdays without me knowing it or ever seeing a scrap of fabric! One Christmas when I was a teenager (and hard to please), I opened a box with the most gorgeous three piece outfit. The colors were bright and so cool for the 70′s! I loved it and felt so pretty in it!
I miss my mom!
A quilt from my dad!
I don’t usually get any handmade gifts. . .but the one that I did receive was when I was a preschool teacher, a student made me a handprint ornament. It was very sweet.
My favorite handmade gift that I have ever received would be a pair of baby booties that my mom knited for my first born over 30 years ago. I still have those booties, I hold them close to my heart as my mom passed away shortly after my 3rd was born.
My fave handmade gift would be my coffee cozy!! I love the way it looks and I use it every time I have a warm drink!
shanna.u at gmail dot com
My favorite handmade gifts are each and every ornament that my kids have made for the Christmas tree.
my favourite handmade gift were these amazing glass ball tree ornaments that my boys made me with their pictures inside of them. priceless!!
About a decade ago, my mom surprised me with a stunning batik quilt. It is so colorful and fun – - a lovely, thoughtful gift!
My friend made me a handmade bunting for my bedroom at university!
its so lovely, and puts extra character into my room.
My sister made me a decorated box filled with personalized notecards and envelopes, and a bunch of card-making goodies one year. There was a lot of thought and time that went into it.
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
Last year my cousins made origami boxes for me. Each box had a different necklace made with shells they found while on vacation in Mexico. They’re very simple necklaces, but just my style and I wear them quite often. The still go in their own boxes each time I take them off.
a lovely craft notebook my sister made me last year
My favorite handmade gift I received was a doll cradle with a mattress, sheets, pillows with pillow cases, and a quilt that my great aunt and uncle made for me when I was a little girl. I still have it and no my youngest daughter loves it. Her baby dolls are sleeping in it right now. My aunt and uncle are both gone, but I still remember the love in their faces as I opened the gift. My aunt’s stitches held strong all these years, and my uncles care in building that cradle is still so evident.
My favourite handmade gift was a sun pillow that me sister made at school and gifted to me.
The crochet blanket my mother made me a few years ago. It’s big, heavy and all of my favorite colors. Makes me smile everytime I see it.
I love to receive handmade cards… there is just something so special about a handwritten note since we do e-mail these days. :)
My daughter was taking ceramics in high school and one christmas she made me vase and a bowl. The vase sits out all year long with or without flowers. The bowl is used as our fruit bowl on our counter. I LOVE THEM.
The favorite handmade gift that I received is an ornament that my daughter cross stitched when she was 11.
My favorite handmade gift was a dress my grandma made me. She was a great sewer, but she didn’t sew very often. She took me to the fabric store, let me pick out the fabric I wanted and the pattern and used the time to teach me to sew. It was my favorite dress and the time I spent learning to sew from her created in me a passion for sewing. I am forever grateful to her!
Last Christmas my daughter gave us home made fudge!!
My favorite hand made give was a baby quilt for my first child (33 years ago). My best friend made it by hand – and she doesn’t even sew. It’s a keepsake!
just last year i received the most beautiful handmade cards from my 6 year old niece! They are so special to me I could hardly send them out!
When we had our son two years ago we were gifted with several hand-knitted blankets, sweater, washcloths, etc. We had no idea how many of our family and friends knew how to knit and crochet!! We love how special and soft and one-of-a-kind all of those gifts are and we really cherish them. We just had our baby daughter and some more hand-knit stuff is coming our way, which is just wonderful!
On my blog I was talking about my best gift ever which was a handmade cabinet and stove from Santa! I loved it and the magic!
My favorite gift was the dress my mother made me for my senior piano recital. It was a floor length gown with multilayers in the full circle skirt- many hours of loving hand-stitching.
My favorite handmade gift was a beautiful necklace, made by my daughter.
I received a handmade pin cushion from my then 6 year old daughter- Allison. I will always cherish it and remember my first thoughts when I realized she had cut into the front skirt of a dress i was smocking in Liberty of London fabric!! It still has a place of honor in my sewing room today!
My favorite handmade gift is a knitted afghan that my grandmother made for me one Christmas when I was young. I cherish that afghan!
My mom which is a seamstress used to make us the most lovely dresses. One year we were going on a cruise after the holidays and she made us this beautiful clothing but she said Santa claus brought them. As a kid we were very happy about the clothes. Few month later a found the same fabric of one of the skirt and I knew it was from my mom.
The favorite gift I have received over the years was from a dear old gentleman from church. He was a excellent woodworker .. and built me a very beautiful rustic wooden creche/stable that I treasure very much! It became one of my most fav Christmas displays.. on top of my old upright piano surround by the Star of Bethlehem, wise men, cattle and of course KING JESUS!!
This is very hard as I am the only creative in my family. My Gram always made me new pj’s for Chrismas. I would love to have a nightie from her now. The flannel was so soft and heavy and smelled like her rose water perfume. My best friend who is 25 years older than me made me a jacket out of a quilt of her mother’s. It is my comfort coat and I love it.
So easy to answer this one – I absolutely treasure the lovely little things my children and grandchildren have made for me over the years. Yes, I keep them all. I am 68 now, so some of those things are pretty old, but none the worse for wear. It is fun to look at them and to be reminded of the time in our life as family when they were made. The special ornaments for the tree are hung each and every year. My tree is definitely family themed! And I have a special tree (a little smaller, about 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall) that is decorated for my grandson who has autism. He loves it!
Most recently, I think it was the year my son-in-law painted my front door red for my birthday. It was so sweet for him to take the time to do that for me!
I received an awesome organizer skirt for my sewing machine from the lady who has taught me about quilting. She has been batteling cancer for the past twenty years and has finally decided to stop all treatments. I can not tell you all the knowledge and life lessons she has given me in the last three years.
When my two children were in high school they were required to take a semester of Home Ec & of Industrial Arts. Each year they took Industrial Arts their final project was a wooden box, each of the two made one and gave them to me for Christmas. They sit on my coffee table to this day and they are both in their 40′s. They are just these beautifully simple stained wooden boxes.
I cherish anything and everything made by my children. My 6 year old son has made me countless drawings, ornaments, and various crafts that I adore. I also love my afghan that my grandmother crotcheted for me as it was the last blanket she made and it makes me think of her every time I use it.
I couldn’t comment yesterday… trying today.
My favorite would be the hand knit matching sweaters my OMA made for my sister and I . we wore them in a picture for her grad year… she died 2 years later. I have the photo and the sweater to remind me of my Oma and my sister!
Of all of the handmade gifts I’ve received over the years, the ones that I will remember with fondness the rest of my life is the ceramic Looney Toons characters my uncle painted for me. He was such a sweet man, and I received many throughout the Christmases when I was a child.
Such lovely prizes AGAIN! You are awesome. Best handmade gift ever received? I think it would have to be the bed that my little brother made for us, not quite when we got married but a few years after, we’re still sleeping in it 12 years later! He is a star!
My favorite handmade gift is my favorite all time gift. I loved getting a memory book that my husband made for me for our first married Christmas. It was so thoughtful and special.
best handmade gift i received was a mini puppet stage with real working lights and curtains that my husband made me for an engagement present.
A friend once made me a recording of all of the songs that made her think of me. That was the sweetest gift ever! I really cherished that gift!

I would say my favorite at the moment is a quilted totebag that a friend made for me a couple of years ago. I actually saw her making it and raved and low and behold… it came my way!
Anything made by my daughter!!!!
My favorite handmade gift I ever got was from my Mom. She made an entire baby layette for my dolls. I saw her sewing on beautiful soft flannel fabric and she told me she was making baby clothes for a friend who was expecting. When I opened the gift I thought it was a mistake, and my mom just laughed and said the clothes were for me to use on my baby doll. I still remember the magical experience of laying out all these beautiful hand sewn doll clothes and choosing which one to put on my doll!
I cute frame and picture from my daughter from preschool!
My 90 year old grandma still knits me a pair of socks every year for Christmas and I look forward to it every year.
My favorite hand made gift that I received was from my adult daughter who some of her bird photographs and some round pieces of wood to woodburn the birds onto the circles. She then created a collage. She is so talented.
My best home made gifts happened long ago, when my parents would always make there own cards for me, they were always funny, and I have still got many of them.
Oh my goodness, I’m drooling over the pretty prizes! My favorite handmade gift is the scrapbook my mom made me when I graduated college. I had moved 1,000 miles away to Alaska and I knew that she was missing me and thinking about me. I treasure it :)
All the beautiful wood furniture my dad made for me :)
My favorite homemade gift is the scarf a friend crocheted for me a few years ago. Thanks for the opportunity to win!=)
My favorite handmade gift was from my granddaughter, who cross stitched me a small hummingbird. I had it framed and it is hanging on the wall in my craft room.

Peggy

My Grandmother crocheted a baby blanket for each of my babies that were born while she was still living. I treasure those blankets! j-j-s AT juno DOT com
the many ornaments made by my children through the years! Each is precious to me.
Once I received a handmade lace scarf that was knit by a close friend. I am in awe of how much time and care it would have taken. Truly a special gift!
Well, I accidentally included this in yesterdays post too (lol) but – my favorite handmade gift I have received is a crocheted purple/red/white king sized afghan. A lovely woman I worked with gave it to me 18 years ago – it is one of my prized possessions. I adore it….
My mother wove a beautiful scarf for my sister and me. It’s soft and beautiful, and wonderful that it’s from her.
My husband made me a wood and glass case for my childhood doll. It is dark wood with crown molding, a glass front and it is three feet tall.
Last year my grandmother gave me a scrapbook that started with my mom being pregnant and followed me through school and college and up to my wedding. It was amazing and oh so special.
wow what wonderful Prizes, I would love to win any of them this week
My mother’s dearest friend made me a tree skirt for a wedding present. It’s totally not my style–very pink and Victorian–but I love it more than any of my other Christmas decorations because she made it especially for me. She passed away a few years back, but I think of her a lot during the holidays, especially every time I see the skirt.
Favorite homemade gift? I collect nutcrackers and my husband bought a wooden one and let my daughter paint it for me, she was so proud!
My birth mother, who died before I had the chance to meet her, made these amazing shadow box dioramas from basically “garbage”, recycling far ahead of the curve! When I met her mother , my grandmother, just before the Christmas I was twenty, she presented me with a Christmas scene my mother had made for her ten years earlier. It is in an old clock frame, with a tree and whole “living room” made of found objects. Best of all, she had written on the back of it the year she had made it for my grandmother, and my grandmother then signed it as she presented it to me.
My most favourite handmade gifts are from my kids! Last year my little girl Alexandra made me a beautiful ornament for our tree in her JK class! She had wrapped it up in tissue paper and made a tag! It was so sweet and beautiful and she was really proud of herself! I’m looking forward to what my kids are going to make for me this year already!
my sisters have given me some amazing handmade gifts…pillows…creative wall art….aprons…florals…and I cherish them all and I am in awe of their talents.
My fav. gift was a stained glass angel my Aunt made for me. It is gorgeous !!!
What a fabulous giveaway. They are all so scrumptious! My favorite handmade gift? Hmmm. Sometimes it is so hard to choose. But because I can see it from where I am sitting, I am going to choose a beautiful handmade crocheted afghan that my sister made for me one year. It is green and red and white, so perfect for the holiday season.
My favorite handmade gift was a knitting needle roll that my sister made for me. I use it all the time!
My favorite handmade gift I ever received was a crochet doll my granmother had made for me when I was younger. She was dressed in blue(my favorite color) and I took her everywhere.
My favorite handmade gift is a blanket made by my grandma, both my kids have used it and it is so special to me
My favorite handmade gift was made by one of my sons in 3rd grade, I believe. I still have it with me at work. It is a rock named “Specimen”. He came with a note that says: “Specimen is named Specimen because he looks like a specimen.” Specimen has pink button eyes, two yellow “antennae” and a yellow pom-pom tail. He’s sweet.
My son is now 21.
My favorite handmade gift I received would really be the knit baby blankets that my grandmother made for each of my children for his/her first Christmas
My Mother-in-Law has made me many wonderful gifts-she is a talented quilter and knitter! My favorite was a Christmas wall hanging with a quilted version of my dog – a sweet yellow lab- on it. I love it!
favorite handmade gift? anything my four girls have made ornament wise, and they’ve made quite a few. they’re the best.
great give-away. thanks for the chance.

My mom crochéted an afghan for me. I keep on a livingroom chair for chilly days.
a crochet baby blanket for my daughter, she sleeps with it every night.
My mother, who was a seamstress by avocation, made a fleece bathrobe for me for Christmas in about 1995 or so. She died in 1997, and I’m still wearing that bathrobe. It’s actually still warm (a testiment to polar fleece, I guess!) and I just can’t seem to let it go. It’s getting pretty ratty looking–I’ve even bought and cut a pattern for a new bathrobe…but I’c n’t do it yet. It’ll always remind me of my mom.
My dad carved me a moose walking through the marsh. It is absolutely life like and must have taken him months to complete.
I loved the Holly Hobby doll that my mother made for me when I was seven (in the ’70′s!). She had a cloth body that was stuffed, embroidered facial details, brown yarn hair and blue and white flowered dress. I wish I still had it, but I’ll never forget it.
It would be the pillows my Great Aunt Mini made. She would make the most beautiful decorative pillows ever in all sorts of shapes and sizes with trim galore! It was always my favorite thing to receive when I was little because not only were they so beautiful but I knew she had made them especially for me!
My sister mades polymer clay dog that are minauture size. She has made us many of our most beloved dogs.
My favorite handmade gift I’ve received is a patchwork drawstring bag from my art teacher back in middle school.
My family always has a Christmas-card making afternoon each year. I love getting the handmade cards from my mam and sister.
Ah, that would be the Christmas ornament that my son made with macaroni :)
My favorite handmade gift that I have received is a mariner’s compass bed quilt, with matching throw pillows and wall hanging, that my mother made for me. It is gorgeous and took a lot of work.
My daugther stiched a handmade pillow for me during one of her therapy sessions. It was the first item she actually hand stiched on her own. I really treasure the tiny navy and white pillow.
I have ordered the Henries Soad among may others love them…
The favorite handmade gift that I have received is the shelving that fits perfectly around my computer area. It’s huge and has lots of nooks and spots to put things. I also love the wood trim on it. It was made by my husband.
Favourite handmade gifts might be the dollhouse (with lights in each room) that my Dad made for me AND the barbie clothes and furniture lovingly made … with incredible detail … by my Mom. Both when I was a child, of course.
My favorite is a ceramic Christmas tree that my grandmother painted. She gave it to me when I was child. I used it as a night light and honestly didn’t appreciate then as much as I do now. By the way – each branch has holes it where you place the lights. For the holidays I have lights that look like old fashion Christmas light bulbs but for the rest of the year I have lights shaped like birds.
I love the pillow my aunt made me. It is a huge floor pillow with a paper pieced butterfly on it. I love the colours she used, the size and the fact that she remembered a passing comment about loving the pattern and went to such a huge effort to make it for me.
It is about 10 years old now and although it is starting to look a bit tired it is still as lovely as the day I got it.
My favorite handmade gift received came from my dad! I am an avid reader and had stacks of books throughout my house! He surprised me with a solid wood bookcase that goes from the floor to ceiling (he made it to fit the dimensions of his truck bed so he could transport it) and I love, love, LOVE it!!!!
My favorite handmade gift I received was a crocheted afaghan my MIL made me. I am the only one of her sons/daughter in laws that ever received one. It wasn’t pretty, but it was the thought that counted.
My sister made me some homemade bedside lamps by taking old books, antiquing them and turning them into lamps with a lamp kit.
For my 21st birthday, my mother crocheted me a beautiful afghan. It was a creamy white with yellow crosse stitched roses. It was the most beautiful afghan I had ever seen. That was over 30 years ago and I still use it and it’s still the most beautiful afghan ever!
I was gifted a bible on last Christmas by my dearest friend ….
thanks for the lovely giveaway
my favorite gift is a granny square blanket my Nana made for me. she has since made one for each of my kids, gifted to them on their 1st Christmas.
I have never received a hand made gift!
My favorite handmade gift is a silly, old felt doorknob cover that my niece made for me EONS ago. It has been moved a kazillion times, and is getting pretty ratty, but I will keep it forever. My niece was having a bad time in school that year and I was trying to stay connected with her (she was very young, maybe third grade, so I was in my late teens). She completely surprised me with the gift, even though I had talked to her nearly every day, asking about school and her life, but she had never mentioned making it. Even better than the actual thing, though, is the memory of her face when I opened it…the look of sheer joy and delight at my surprise and pleasure. To my mind, that is what giving is all about…taking the time to create or do something for someone else simply because you think they’ll like it. And you know? I think I gave her a gift that year too, by just appreciating something she had done.
The best homemade gift I received was a custom purse from one of my friends. She has her own etsy shop and is amazing!!
My favorite handmade gift I received is two fold and they are two quilts that my grandmother made for me when I was in high school. i still use them and just love getting cozy underneath them!
One of the most touching handmade gifts I’ve ever received was when I was waiting for back surgery. The members of the quilting group that I belonged to made me a quilt and they all signed it and had members of the community sign it too.
The quilting group has since disbanded so I really treasure this quilt that they made for me!
My favorite homemade gift ever…an afghan that my mother made. I felt like I had a real connection to her when I opened that gift from her.
When I was quite little, my grandma made a gorgeous set of knitted clothing for my baby doll. To be honest it was probably a few more years until I could appreciate the effort and skill that went into the gift, though I’d loved them all the same.
My friend made me a pillow with embroidered and painted spider plants.
My favorite handmade gift was a jewelry holder made by one of my best friends.
A large canvas that my extremely talented daughter made for me. It has large wooden letters that spell out “Inspire”. It is painted turquoise with a purple trim. It is beautiful! It hangs in my craft room and inspires me every time I look at it!
Wow! Now that is a tough question! I can’t choose just one! Every gift that is hand-made is so special — because a lot of love goes into everything home-made… :-) I love the special things that my daughters have made for me over the years— the felt cupcake pincushion, the crocheted scarf, the beautiful beaded jewelry, the crocheted doilies… and I couldn’t leave out the gorgeous hand quilted lap quilt that my Aunt gave me for my 50th birthday! The list could go on and on… every item is so special to me and has a very special place in my home! :-)
My favorite handmade gift is a silver necklace my friend stamped the names of my 3 children on. And it’s been missing!!! :(
My boyfriend wrote me a poem once that was a list of the 10 things that he loved most about me. It was on a piece of notebook paper, nothing super fancy, but that meant more to me than anything he ever bought me.
The amount of handmade projects that my 5 year daughter brings home from school can get overwhelming. I pick and choose which to keep, display, etc. But I have to say on my birthday she surprised me with a picture she drew (glued and sparkled) of the two of us.. it by far is the best handmade gift I’ve ever received! Of course it doesn’t hurt that she made us both fabulous princesses too. :)
My Dad made a wonderful doll house, complete with hand made furniture, bedding, rugs, curtains, etc. He was a wonderful carpenter. It had a stained glass window with our initials in it. totally fabulous. Sadly, we lost this treasure, and others, in our house fire. i miss it, and my Dad so much!
My favorite handmade gift was my nativity set that my SiL painted for us. Kim Lessig
My mother used practically every creative skill she had ever learned to create this most precious present for me. She made me a porcelain doll. She chose the mold, and had the body created. I watched her sand the shapes for hours (not knowing it would be mine). After sanding the porcelain to a fine finish, she began to pain a face on the doll, paint the body.
My mother made the wig for this doll, by finding human wigs from second hand stores. I knew because I had to stand as her shield as she pulled out her matches to confirm if the hair was real or fake. She pulled out the strands from the human wig, soaked them in solutions, and wrapped them around small tubes to create the curls, and waited for them to dry. After they dried, she released each curl from the tube and sewed it into a cap that was the base of the wig.
She then created the gown, looking for old laces and linens to sew with. She stained them in teas and coffees to get just the right grunge on it. She created patterns, and sewed an intricate dress with bloomers and slip. She used her skill with french hand sewing and needle lace to add the perfect touches.
This doll took months to create, and I watched it emerge, never realizing it would be mine. I couldn’t have been more surprised when my mother gave it to me as a gift. Its the most amazing handmade gift I have ever received. I know the effort and time that went into it, and the artistry is amazing. She was ahead of her time (this was back in the early 80′s).
The best handmade gift I received was a silver braclet my Mom made. My Mom took a silversmith class and my brother asked her to make him a wide band braclet. Mom bought the silver and shortly after my brother was killed on the job. Needless to say, this was a terrible time for my family. Mom felt terrible as she hadn’t made the braclet for him before he died. What she came up with is, she cut the silver in half lengthwise and made a braclet for my younger sister and myself. On my braclet my Mom put my Cherokee name along with my brother’s Cherokee name. On my sister’s, Mom did the same, only using of course her Cherokee name. My braclet means the world to me. I’ve had my braclet on since 1996 and it doesn’t come off now unless I struggle with it. Even going through the airport security I always end up in secondary screening. A small price to pay.
Thanks so much for another great day of giveaways and a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
my sister crotched me a throw a couple years ago. soft, cuddly and gorgeous!
Hard to choose, but what came to mind first was a sweater my Nanie Evans custom knitted for me at age 11, after taking me to yarn shop and allowing me to choose yarn (dark turquoise marled) and big irisdescent matching buttons. A close second is the 8th grade prom gown her daughter, my Aunt Irmie made for me. The amazing thing is these women weren’t blood relations, but they were my family!
When my husband and I got engaged his mother offered to make my wedding dress. It was a very wonderful and special gift.
You know, I don’t think I’ve ever received a homemade gift. I’ve always given them.
My favorite handmade gift is a beautiful walnut slab table that my son made for me in shop class in high school. I just love it.
When my youngest daughter was about 9 she wrote me this beautiful poem and then hand decorated the paper that the poem was written on with ribbon……I will treasure this ALWAYS!
I received an AMAZING handmade friendship book from my BFF – it is a beautiful chipboard book she decorated with all sorts of friendships sayings, notes, and quotes, bits of fabrics, beautiful papers, buttons, fabric yo-yos, ribbons, and trims – it is truly spectacular.
Most cherished handmade gift every received was a completely, authentic handsewn baby quilt presented by my Great Aunt Betty on the birth of my first child over 30 years ago. The top pieces were from her 50 year old collection of colorful floral quilt scraps. Our baby colors were shades of lavender and purple and she had lots of vintage quilt pieces that worked beautifully into the special quilt. I still have it today and cherish it very much. RIP Aunt Betty, I love you!
When I was about 8 years old my grandmother made me a stuffed dalmatian. I still have it some 45 years later.
My Mother-in-Law is a quilter. Years ago, she found several very old quilts that were beyond repair. She cut them up and made a jacket out of the quilts for me. I’m always amazed at how warm it is!
Since I already did my favorite, the second was more semi-homemade from my husband…he put together a collage of pictures of my daughter for me. I think it’s time to restart the tradition again, of one handmade gift from each other in the family.
A Christmas dress from my Mother for my daughter when she was a baby.
my favorite handmade gift has been a beautiful scrapbook layout of my family.
My favorite homemade gift was bittersweet. My grandmother wanted to do a large acrylic painting for me so she asked to me to pick out a design. I selected a Mary Englebreit greeting card with a beautiful blue border called “There’s No Place Like Home,” and she diligently got to work. A few weeks later we were shocked to hear that she had passed away. On her table was my finished painting, paint supplies, and her brushes still sitting in a jar of water. It must have been the last thing she did before sitting down on the couch for a rest.
My favorite handmade gift was a Christmas ornament made by my mother. The ornament was made out of glass beads that were part of a necklace that belonged to my great grandmother.
I make handmade gifts all the time, but it has been along while since I have received a handmade gift. My favorite handmade gift I have received was over 6 years ago, when my mother embellished a beautiful baby gown for my daughter. A close second is all the doll clothes my mom used to make me. ;-)
I love any handmade gift, but especially home baked food. My work partner made my wedding cake for me with such love and craftsmanship, that it comes to mind as one of my favorite handmade gifts.
My favorite handmade gift is a quilt my mom made me when I got engaged…it is made out of those small yoyo circles!
I have a friend who dabbles in watercolors & she painted & framed a beautiful vase of flowers in muted pastels for my kitchen wall – best gift ever! Great giveaway – thanks for the chance to win.
I love to receive handmade ornaments for my tree! :-)
My favorite handmade gift was a collage that my husband slyly put together. It included photos and magazine pictures and articles from Super Bowl XXIII which we attended together. I had no idea until I opened it–it was poster size!
My mom made me a quilt my first Christmas after leaving for college. More than the beautiful quilt, I knew she was thinking about me and praying for me the entire time she made it!
Um, I think I screwed up yesterday, must have had my glasses on top of my head. I misread yesterday’s question. So yeah, the best handmade gift I have received is a large stain glass piece that my neighbor made me about 30 years ago. It was such a special gift.
I’ve loved all the handmade gifts that I’ve received. Perhaps, my favorite was the quilt my MIL made for me before our wedding. Merry Christmas!
My favorite handmade gift cake and candles picture that my son made on his fifth birthday and brought to me at my office. He used pipe cleaners taped on for the candles. He was so proud!
My friend just gave me a beautiful necklace that has a photo of my daughter and I on it. She had it made somewhere on etsy and I just LOVE it!!
my mom made many things for me over the years, but the best gift was sharing her skills with me so I learned to sew, knit, and crochet.
A friend crocheted a beautiful snow white blanket for my first daughter.
A dear friend made an applique quilt for me a few yrs ago for Christmas. It is one of my most cherished gifts.
My favorite handmade gift has to be cross picture someone created for me. Lot of meaning behind it.
I think it would have to a a tiny memory book that one of my best friends gave me. It was like a miniature scrapbook with a few pictures and memories from the time we’ve known each other. :)
I still have and wear the last handknit mittens that my Mom made for me-the mittens are 30 years old but still perfect and warm and very special to me.
My favorite gift is a paperclip holder that my now 27 year old son made when he was about 5. I thought it was a pelican but he said a baby bird. It still sits on my art table today!
My favorite handmade gift is an ornament from an online friend of mine received about 12 years ago. I used to belong to an online club that played a game (wordyacht) and had a league and generally took up a great deal of time, but I met alot of fun people both online and in person. Anyway, one year we did an ornament exchange. I did get the obligatory coffee ornaments (because of my mocha name) but one woman made a santa ornament out of a shotgun shell. It cracked me up! It still hangs on my tree and it still cracks me up.
My most favorite handmade gift was a quilt that my oldest sister made me for my 30th birthday year. She did an awesome job and I think of her and all the time she put into in with her busy schedule and I appreciate it so much more.
Without a doubt it would be a handmade quilt my grandmother made for me. It is a quilt of the 50 state birds. She embroidered all of the state bird squares then hand quilted the squares and the border. It is beautiful. She finished my quilt just two months before she passed away un-expectedly. I was eight years old when she died and I don’t remember many things about her. When I run my hands over that quilt, I can feel the love she put into every single stitch just for me, her only granddaughter. It is, by far, my most treasured handmade gift!
My Mom gave me a doll that was dressed in a gown she had crocheted along with the hat and bag.
My favorite received homemade gift was a scarf from my sister!
My favorite handmade gift was a needle felted Santa made by a really good friend. It was the product of a special class she took and a true work of art. I felt so honored to receive such a labor of love!
My favorite handmade gift was an anniversary present… Bunches of hand-arranged
Flowers all around the house, hand-written notes and
Clues left all around the house and my dear beloved standing with his handmade
Card… Dreamy, perfect and beautiful.
My favorite handmade gift I was given would have to be the very first ornament my oldest son made when he was in preschool. It was just a simple dough ornament, but I cried when I opened it. I knew this would be the first of many little school craft project gifts I would recieve. He was so proud of the paper bag he colored to “wrap” the ornament.
The most treasured hand made gift would have to be the first Christmas card my son made for me before he started school. I was at home with him in the day and worked at night. He was always asking for paper so I went and got him a pack of colored paper. He went to his room and I heard him tearing paper so I just left him to do what he was doing, he would take a break and come out and play so I thought he had forgotten what he was doing so I went to work when my wife came home. I didn’t think any more about it. When I got home from work about midnight he came running from his room with a folded paper in his hand, he said I made this for you, there it was this card that was folded a little crazy but he had made a Santa out of torn paper. He couldn’t write Christmas so he just wrote daddy on the card. I still have it after 30 years. No one has topped that card. Thank you all for this wonderful giveaway and Happy Holiday to You and Yours.
my favorite recieved hand made gift is a set of custom aprons for my two little girls and myself. my friend made them for a gift exchange with our quilt group and they adorable blue with pears and apples on them, a contrasting green hem, and chocolate brown rick rack trim all over. I always have my girls (8 & 5) help when baking, and we always match! :)
That would be a piano key chain made out of perler beads.
My favorite handmade gift is also my favorite gift I’ve ever received. Several years back, my mother made me my first quilt ever for Christmas. It’s a patchwork quilt that is made out of Christmas fabric. I love, love, love it!
The best handmade christmas gift that I received was a quilt (Little Dutch Girl) hand quilted by my Grannie and my Mother. I treasured it until it completely disintegrated. BTW my grannie made quilts for her 4 granddaughters featuring our favorite colors that Christmas. She was VERY prolific and the consummate craftswoman who could do anything! She is still my idol.
My cousin is really creative at crocheting and she made me several beautiful snowflakes for my tree. I still have them after 15 years and always enjoy looking at them each year because I know she made them for me with love.
My loveliest of handmade gifts was a beautiful vintage bead necklace. A fabulous friend who makes beautiful jewelry crafted the most amazing piece – glowing green beads and the sweetest bronze star pendant. I wear it all the time! It was the necklace that got me excited about wearing jewelry again – a feat in and of itself for a busy mom! :)
a framed INK drawing of our home by my daughter. It’s beautiful.
When I was diagnosed with cancer my friend made me the cutest scarf/neckwarmer/wrap with a button. I loved it so much that I was afraid to wear it as I didn’t want to get it dirty or ruin any of the stitches(by pulling) one day I was so cold and had my treatment that day & for some reason I had stuck it in my bag-boy was I glad!
It also seemed like a little angel telling me to bring it. It’s nice and worn in and I get a lot of compliments on it every time I wear it:)
One year I received a table top quilt make by my mom for Christmas. I loved it. I actually love anything handmade, especially patchwork and embroidery. thanks, kathy
My favorite hand made gift was from my daughter. When I married her step-dad (when she was 17) she made us an anniversary card for the 1st 5 years of our marriage. Each card was so beautiful and precious. She deeply loves my husband and has always treated him as if he was her biological dad. So precious!
My favorite handmade gift became the gift my grandmother made for that Christmas. When I was young I would groan like a spoiled kid that it was homemade, but as I grew older I looked forward to her gifts. Now that she is gone, her many thread or liquid embroidered tea-towels, crocheted doilies or cute crafts are treasures. How she managed to make all 30 grandchildren and 11 children feel so special is still amazing to me. What a grand graceful woman.
My most favorite handmade gift came from my Mom. She hand crocheted 2 lace collars for me in the 80′s to wear over my sweatshirts. She has been gone for 14 years now and every time I look at them, I remember the love that must’ve gne into every stitch, just for me.
Definitely the first knitted scarf I received from a friend last Christmas.
i i love all handmade gifts i receive. Chequebook cover, camera strap cover, polka dot pajama pants and a Christmas ornament are a few!
I received a gorgeous table runner in the mail just today! It is definitely my current favourite handmade gift.
Hand made fudge made by mom ….. she made such great tasting fudge that nothing has compared since her death….
Wow, what gorgeous pieces!
Whoops forgot to answer the question: I would have to say my grandma’s fruitcake, homemade, every year.
It would have to be a hat that my friend knitted for me – keeps my head toasty warm!
My favorite handmade gift was a book, written and illustrated by my daughter when she was about 8 years old. Actually anything made from my children is cherished.
My favorite handmade gift was a cable sweater in ivory wool yarn knit by my sister – simply beautiful!
My grandmother made a beautiful crochet afghan.
Every year my cousin’s mom makes hand carved wooden santa’s …so beautiful!! I will cherish them forever!!!!
I have a little mouse paper ornament that my son made for me when he was 3, it is so special as it was his last Christmas on earth.
The favorite handmade gift I ever received was a velvet dress made for me by my mother. I wore it when I sang in the 5th grade Christmas concert, and felt so beautiful. So much work went into that dress, right at the holidays, when she was working full time as a nurse. So much expense out of the budget right when demand for discretionary income was high. And she did it with such a happy, generous heart. What a beautiful example for me now, as I see things from an adult perspective.
Difficult to pick a favourite because they all mean a lot, but perhaps the shawl that a friend knitted for me.
My favorite handmade gift? Has to be any thing that my son had made for me. :) Anything made with love and a giving heart is special.
My favorite handmade gift is a delicate sewn doily that has pin tucks and french seams that my mom made for me.
When I was young my sister made me a velveteen rabbit..he was horrid looking. But…she had spent so much time and love making him for me..I adored him! Loved the fuzz right off of him!
When I was 7 my grandpa made me a dollhouse. It’s still the best homemade gift I’ve received.
Funny, I have never thought about it but we make LOTS of our gifts yet I don’t receive very many hand made items myself. My mother in law does always knit me a sweater for my bday and the last 2 I have received are my favorite all time sweaters!
A Handmade card that my mamma stamped and left on my pillow for me. She had stamped a picture of a bunny and wrote “your sombunny special” on the card.
Two weeks before I turned 16, I began dating my husband. For my 16th birthday, he asked his mother to make me a lap quilt covered in hand appliqued hearts and she did! They must have known something I didn’t quite yet… She has been my mother in law now for 14 years and has loving taught me to make my own quilts and given us several more, but that very first one remains very special.
I would have to say anything my daughter made for me when she was younger. She is 15 now and doesn’t make anything for me anymore. :( I treasure what I have received from her when she did.

I still love the silver-and-gold-spray-painted-macaroni-Christmas-wreath-photo-frame ornaments filled with my children’s photos that they each made in school.

Best homemade gift I have received…… There was a time when I was having a large personal crisis going on. One of my girlfriends took me out for the day to get my mind off of it. Anther girlfriend stayed at my home with my kids. When I returned that day she had done my laundry, cleaned a little bit of my house and had dinner ready for my family. All while watching 5 kids who were 3 and under at the time. It screamed LOVE to me.
my favorite handmade gift is Fall wreaths my then 2 and 4 yr old nephew and niece made me last year. I loved putting them out again this year. I wish I got more handmade things but I am usually the one doing the hand making! thanks for the chance to win these sweet goodies

My favorite hand made gift was a quilt both of my grandmothers worked on.
A holly pillow
What lovely handmade gifts! The favourite gift I’ve ever received (although not actually a Christmas gift) was for my wedding. All the women who are special to us – family from both sides and friends, stitched a 10 inch block in blue tones, and a friend pieced it together into a quilt. All the guests at our wedding signed it. I love curling up under it and reading the messages and looking at all the love and work put into the quilting. So special!
Wow! Fabulous ladies as usual! My favorite handmade gift is my Christmas stocking. My aunt is a quilter and made all of my family one!!
A pair of handknit mittens. My friend came up with the design – they are MOOSE. I love moose!
My favorite gift is a picture my sister painted of my husband and I. It was such a great surprise and I had no idea she was even working on it. It is proudly sitting on a stand in my living room for all to see when they come into my home. I love it!
Many years ago I hosted a Chrismas party for new and old friends. One new friend tentatively placed her gift on the table where I was the lucky recipient during our drawing. She had painted a watercolor picture that is one of my treasures today. And to think she was felt it was somehow lacking. We lost touch but I hope she remembers how happy her gift made me. I felt like the luckiest person at the party!
My favorite handmade gift was a quilt made by my grandmother from scraps of fabric that were part of my childhood!!
I was given a handmade silver bracelet with agate stones made by my grandfather’s cousin 8 years ago. He rarely makes jewellery anymore so this was a very special gift.
it’s cliche… but the best homemade gift I ever got was the second year my son was in daycare. He made (with help) a reindeer with his foot and hand prints. It’s one of my prized possessions and always hangs in a place of prominence. :)

Years ago my mother-in-law gave me a handmade double wedding ring quilt that she pieced and quilted. I still love it. My husband’s grandmother knitted a new sweater every Christmas for our children when they were very small. They are treasures. One year she gave me a very small sweater to fit one of the bears I collected. It is still on that old bear!
I think my favorite handmade gifts would be the plaster of paris type of handprints that my kids made in kindergarten…..my oldest is now a senior in high school and our youngest is in kindergarten. She came home the other day and said her gift was a secret but it would be the 5th one to ‘complete’ my set!
Thanks for a great giveaway!
Julie
My favorite handmade gift is a pink checked dress with a white eyelet apron. My mama made it for me and I wore it for my kindergarten picture. Since then my 3 daughters have all worn it for their kindergarten pictures and now I am so proud and honored, that my granddaughter Ava wore it for hers this year. My mom would be beaming to know that something she made for me had been so cherished and handed down so lovingly.
When I was about eight I woke up on Thanksgiving morning to a darling little skirt and blouse my Mum had made for me…. and she made a matching one for my favorite doll too. I LOVED it and it’s still such a sweet memory.
All the things my children made for me….one that comes to mind are some rocks that Megan painted. I also treasure a quilt made by my grandmother. MY granddaughter uses it now!
My favorite one could be a toss up but I’ll say the hand made dolls my mother made us every year. My favorite of those was a Red Riding Hood/Grandmother reversible Wolf doll. On one face side was Red Riding Hood and the other was Grandmother. If you turned them upside down, the skirt would flip and the wolf was there hiding in Grandmothers clothes with the skirt going with his costume. Super cool and it must have taken forever.
My favorite handmade gift is a scrapbook made by my father. He filled it with old family photos of vacations, summer adventures, winter sledding, family celebrations, etc. It started with my birth and went all the up to include my two sons. It’s priceless!

had or make it at little cost. This basic concept has stuck with me my whole life .

For the past 4 years, I’ve hosted a 12 Days of Xams exchange with my artist friends. I began this exchange because so many of us are makers and yet we were ever on the receiving end of handmade gifts. It seemed sad, so I gathered my special friends together and we began exchanging with one another. EVERYTHING that I’ve receved from these talented artists have been my most favourite handmade gifts. The time, energy, love and artistry that went into each and every gift was incredible.
Here’s a link to the holiday goodness I am taking about:

My Mom was an accomplished knitter. Not a crocheter, but a knitter! Years ago she knit beautiful woolen Christmas gifts for my children…who are now in their late 20′s. My favorite was for my 4 year old Lindsay; a robins’s egg blue wool jumper with a kitty on the front worked in white angora yarn with red mittens ! One year old Marshall’s gift that year was a pair of knitted royal blue wool bibbed shorts. I have them both tucked away in the cedar chest…maybe some year they will be worn again!

My favorite handmade gift received is a needlepoint piece my grandmother made for me when I was 8 or 9. It’s one of my treasures and so fitting that it now hangs in my daughter’s room, since she is named for my grandmother!
I can almost count the handmade gifts I’ve received on one hand. People are usually too intimidated to give me anything handmade since I’m so “crafty” and am always giving handmade gifts. They’ve told me they worry that I will critique their gifts. What they don’t know, until I tell them, is that I am more than appreciative when someone takes the time to make something for me and I treasure it, always. One of the first things that I received that was handmade, and one of favorite, was a stained glass heart that was modeled after a log cabin quilt pattern. I still have it and I still love it!!
I don’t receive that many handmade gifts. I’d have to say my favorite is a recipe card holder my daughter made in grade school from a piece of tile and a clothespin. I still use it!
My favorite handmade was a quilt my Mom made for me when my son was born. It was so unexpected and after years of not sewing she was inspired to dust off her machine and make the most beautiful quilt….she’s been sewing every since!
thanks for an opportunity to enter!

Thanks for the giveaway! A friend made me a pillow and it is covered with buttons. There was a story behind it so that was what made it more special to me.

I collect Santas. My neighbor gives me Santas, I give her rocking horses. She made me a tablerunner filled with Santa pictures. It’s gorgeous.
My mom made me a replica stocking of one that she made me when I was a kid. She thinks that the original stocking was disgarded long ago so she recreated and made me one! Absolute favorite is the felted rainbow wall hanging that my 7 year old god daughter made for my 2 year old’s rainbow birthday party.
My favourite handmade item is the ornament my mom painted for each of us kids when we were little. We each got to pick out which ornament shape we wanted, and Mom hand-painted them, fired them in the kiln and presented them to us. We all have them and now hang them up on our family Christmas trees.

I received a quilt from my mother when I graduated college in 1997. The pattern is “Around the World” and my mother included a note saying how the world was there for my taking if I was brave enough to do so.
A quilt made by my mother.
My favorite handmade gift that I have received is a Christmas ornament from a special family friend. It is a crystal and beaded spider. Very different and very unique.

My 12 yo daughter used up all her savings ($50) to buy me an amazing beaded array of flowers–so Victorian in style. I treasure that she wanted to give me something so beautiful.

It is an apron that my great grandma wore. She had bought it in the 60′s at her church bazaar, handmade by her friend, and wore it all the time. When I remember my great gram, she always had on this apron. I have since made a mock up of the apron, as I was too scared I’d spill something on it if i wore it to cook on Christmas.
