The one with the knishes reminds me of my family tradition. When my parents first got married, my mom would put a penny in the black eyed peas on New Years Eve, and whoever got the penny had good luck for the year. However, after two years no one had ever found the penny. It was determined that my dad (who doesn’t chew his food) must be swallowing the penny. The next year she tried it with a nickel and once again it was never found. Thankfully, he always finds the quarters that she now puts in there.
I love reading about all the traditions and learning about the artists! It inspires me to get to work and to create! Merry Christmas!

Suz
Oh my gosh, the Knish filled with cotton made me laugh. LOL How funny that isn’t remembered each year.
The same Rudolph book each year reminds me of one relative that did pretty much the same thing each year but not a book, it was a bottle of perfume and neither my Mom nor I liked it at all. We never did figure out why it was thought we just loved that stuff. It was horrible smelling stuff.
Oooh Snack Dinner ~ we do that ourselves although we call it Snack Supper and it’s usually also on Christmas Eve. Then the kids wanted to expand and requested years ago this also be repeated again on New Years Eve and other nights in the year. I love that night because it’s all our favorite appetizers and snacks that I make and then those are a nice change in the days after Christmas and all the leftover turkey.
More reminders that Christmas is coming! I hope I win!

My grandmother,Eva, used to make cinnamon sugar doughnuts for 3 KINGS DAY. (Jan. 6th) She hid dimes wrapped in silver foil inside the doughnuts. So you were very careful eating so you didn’t swallow the prize!
I really enjoyed the story about Rudolph. My Grandma always ordered our Christmas gifts from the Sears catalog. I would look at the Sears Christmas catalog for hours and just dream about all the wonderful toys in the catalog. Those were the “good old days”.

Thanks for the chance!! Beautiful!
It’s always fun to learn about others special traditions at the holidays. Two years ago we started having The 4 weeks of Christmas. We get together once a week in December and eat or go to a concert or movie or play a game of monopoly and at each meeting exchange a gift each. This was my idea to get to see more of my kids after they left me with an empty nest. Of course, the gift at each meeting, was the bait for the kids and we have had so much fun doing this. Thanks so much for the giveaway. ms.cheryl
