Hi, I'm Amy from Amy Peters' Studio.
I've paged through the Where Women Create magazine and blog, peeking into other studios and companies with such awe. So I'm thrilled to share my designs and creative space with you today.
There isn't a time in my life when I wasn't in love with jewelry. I took my first formal jewelry class at the age of 8. After that fateful enameling class, I was hooked on creating metal art. The following years I took every jewelry class I could find. When I graduated with a degree in metal arts and jewelry design, I treated it more like a hobby than a job. Like many women, fear of rejection and failure held me back from sharing my designs with the world.
Finally in 1995 I had the courage to turn my passion into a career, thanks to the encouraging words from a fellow artist. I could never have imagined everywhere my stamped jewelry would take me. My jewelry designs have been seen in magazines, on television, in movies and on the necks and wrists of some of today's hollywood elite. While all of that has been fun. What I count as my biggest blessing is how my designs find their way into people's lives at the right time. I often receive messages from my customers about how the jewelry has touched them in meaningful ways. The letters, notes and emails are heartfelt, touching and at times sad. That connection with the customers has been the most precious thing to me.
In 1997 I created our first website for the stores that carried our work. I was positive that I needed it. I stressed about it before my first trade show, surely everyone would ask about my website. No one had websites back then, and no one cared that I did. For fun, check out our old website on the way back machine.
In 2005 I created my blog and over the years it has waxed and waned, grown and changed. The blog has been a special way to connect with customers in a more personal way. I write about my life, my family and my inspirations for my jewelry designs. I love reading comments from women about their hopes, dreams, passions and wishes and how my jewelry has helped along their journeys. My designs have helped them overcome obsticles, reach for goals, push them to grow or help them face a loss.
Now after fifteen years in business I often wonder what path I'll take. I have always been the type of artist where designs just pour out of me. My sketch book is overflowing with creations that I will never have enough time to create. One of the most difficult choices I have to make is between design asthetic and the ability to sell my creations. There are a few times I've design a piece I knew I couldn't sell on a large scale basis. That is OK. Some art is really just for my soul.
Thanks to Where Women Create for having me share a bit about my designs and company today. If this is your first introduction to my jewelry I'm pleased to meet you and I invite you to visit us online. The month of April I'm celebrating with a Month of Fun on our blog for my upcoming 45th birthday. There are discounts, gifts with purchase and giveaways specials every week day.

Oh great find today, my dd wants me to buy her a necklace w/the shutterbug on it she loves photography and will take it a step further next year!
Love the jewlery!!!
Very inspiring, great post!
I love Amy’s jewelry and really admire the amount of work that goes into designing each piece. She had a step-by-step blog about the process she uses and it is very labor intensive. I’ve won a chunky choker from her website a couple of years ago and have ordered necklaces for my mom and daughters. Ever since my mom passed away, I wear her charm along with my other one and it reminds me of her.

I found Amy’s website at a time in my life when I needed it most. One of my most prized pieces is the Expect Miracles necklaces. Unfortunately, it became tangled and my sweet husband tried to untangle it and broke the chain. I would use the gift certificate to replace it….and add a little more too!
Thanks Amy for inspiring and uplifting women.

Wow, Amy — what I wouldn’t give for your collection of stamping tools! :)
Really nice interview. So glad your friend pushed you to go into business with your designs. I have also enjoyed the connections with customers like I never imagined. Jewelry is so often tied to such special occasions (happy and bittersweet) that it really does connect us with the people we create it for, or who seem to stumble upon it at just the right time.
Congratulations on 15 years and cheers to all your future jewelry endeavors! :)

I so loved reading “your story” of how you began. Very inspiring! Your jewelry is fabulous!
Your work gives me warm fuzzies. It’s a smile. It’s a heart breaker in a good way. It’s an endorphin lifter. It’s pewter sunshine. It’s a big fat hug. It’s a skip down the street with your favorite gal pal. It’s a ride on a tire swing. It is all things good. <3 Marianne
