 About A Sweethaven Summer:

Campbell Carter has come to Sweethaven in search of answers about her mother’s history. Just before losing a battle with cancer, Suzanne Carter wrote letters to childhood friends from her hometown of Sweethaven, Michigan. Suzanne’s three friends—Lila, Jane, and Meghan—haven’t spoken in years, yet each has pieces of a scrapbook they made together as girls. Suzanne’s letters have lured them all back to the idyllic lakeside town, where they meet Campbell and begin to remember what was so special about their long Sweethaven summers.

With the help of a handsome local man and her mother’s three friends, Campbell hopes to finally uncover her mother’s twenty-five-year old secret. In the process, she discovers a family she never knew and the home she’s always wanted.

As the women reconnect over the pages of the old scrapbook, wounds are mended, lives are changed, and friendships are restored—just as Suzanne intended.

    Miriam Prantner says:

I love to read because it takes me to other places, places I may never get to see, or times that I will never get to experience. I can experience emotions, and be someone else. It’s wonderful to be able to be absorbed into a whole different place, better than television, movies, etc. Books allow my mind to create the scene.

    Carolyn Williams says:

My mother loved to read and passed this same love on to me as well as giving me all her childhood books which I still have. I remember reading all the Zane Grey books the summer I was 12 and falling in love with cowboys, horses and the old west. Just recently I re-read many of them falling in love all over again. Books are magical and give me a chance to explore and learn about other people and things I would never know otherwise. A good book is like a good friend, meant to be enjoyed and kept close in your heart!

    Susan F. says:

I am an avid reader of an ecclectic assortment. Right now I’m reading a YA novel on my bedstand, a Jane Austin on my Kindle, and a historic non-fiction about 1776-era whenever I get the chance. The book you are offering sounds like a perfect spring vacation read! Would love to have it.

    Donna Engborg says:

Reading is just who I am. My world has never lacked of books. From first grade bookfairs to scholastic book club order forms; from the public library and school libraries to bookstores. As a Mom of two boys who read just as much as I do, I spend a lot of time at bookfairs again, and filling out scholastic book forms for them. Plus we go the the public library almost weekly and always make independent bookstores part of any vacation we are on. I’ve also organized a book club with my friends and have just added your book to the list!

  14. 14

    Maryellen Pallow says:

Thank you so much for the opportunity to win what sounds like a wonderful book, A SWEETHAVEN SUMMER. Why do I love to read? Literacy is independence. In books we’re free to be in any character we choose; we can be in any part of the world (this world or whatever world); and, at the end of the book, we know that we can simply choose the next book and start all over again. Reading is freedom. Thank you!

  30. 30
    SuZeQ says:

Oh indeed, I do love to read. I won’t allow it most of the time though because once I open the cover and read the first word, I’m hooked and do nothing else until I’ve read the last word. Reading takes me to places I otherwise would never visit. It opens the doors to delicious words, scary times, beautiful times and endless friends. This is a great giveaway and I certainly would ALLOW myself an afternoon with these new friends. Thank you!

  31. 31
    Marilyn Guidry says:

Seems like I have been reading forever. I get lost in the pages of books when my imagination clicks in and I am almost there in person. Sometimes if the book is really good I hate to see the ending coming because I want to know more about the people and what happens after the book ends. Even when I reread books the same things happen within my imagination. I am always looking for something to start up once a book does end.

  32. 32
    Beth T. says:

Reading is solace, good company, entertainment, adventure. A book is a passport, a photo album, a love letter, a postcard from an old friend. Reading has made my life bigger, richer, happier, deeper.

I can’t think of a better reason than those already offered. I read for enjoyment,
knowledge, escape, time filler (waiting at the doctor, etc), and just because.
I enjoying reading more than watching TV because I can “cast” my own
characters, etc. I love to read and always have since I read Black Beauty as a
child. Before that my mother read a chapter of Heidi to us every night at bedtime.
    LOVE books.

  36. 36

    Annie B... says:

I love to read for many reasons. For knowledge, for inspiration, for instruction and for enjoyment. I especially loves fiction series. . .because it’s almost like you build a relationship with the characters that lasts longer than one short book. . .and so often I learn about life and others and myself through the lives of these endearing characters.
I read the excerpt of A Sweethaven Summer. . .and of course, I want to read it now!!

This book sounds amazing! I have been an avid reader since I could and reading does SO much for me! All of my creative stuff is packed away so reading helps me feel creative and I love to learn new stuff. . .I just had major back surgery and I saved as many crafty books and magazines that I could (it was SO hard not to peek) so I can just immerse myself into the world of crafting & journal all the ideas that I am going to try (really, I am!) once I am better & can get to my stuff. Reading truly helps keep me sane… :)

  47. 47
    Sherri says:

I love to read for escape, to learn and to simply relax! I have a job that can be very stressful at time. So at night, maybe with a glass of wine, I relax by reading. I become a fly on the wall, an unseen character and I AM a part of the book!
